Nice basic technic. My son (age 7) is thoroughly enjoying this one. It is a good introduction to how gears work on a toy he then has fun playing with.

The articulation of the bucket arm is really cool. Instead of three controls, the arm just has two: One raises and lowers the entire arm at its base. The other control simultaneously retracts the upper arm and the bucket, making a really cool digging motion. The way the kit accomplishes this with minimal parts is really cool and mechanically inspiring!

Not as good as the other Technics products that I've bought. Shortly after construction, we broke some of the track pieces. Lego sent us some replacements free of charge (which was nice), but the overall quality and build of this model is sub-par. Try the V4 nitro buggy. It's awesome!

I had some little ones visiting over the holidays and had to make the supreme sacrifice and do some Lego building. After the kids left, I picked up some Technic sets to play with on my own. I hadn't touched a new Technic set in nearly 20 years--some things have changed with Lego Technic--but this is one of the best sets I picked up, and a super value for $25. The excavator swings and the shovel opens and closes--there's plenty of technical action here for the price and kit complexity.Highly recommended. |
