Product Description

Platform: Playstation 4

From the makers of the immensely popular LEGO The Lord of the Rings, comes LEGO The Hobbit, inspired by the first two films in The Hobbit Trilogy: The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and the upcoming The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug, productions of New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures (MGM) as well as the collection of LEGO The Hobbit constructions sets. The interactive game of LEGO The Hobbit allows gamers to play along their favorite scenes from the films and follows the Hobbit Bilbo Baggins as he is recruited by the Wizard Gandalf to aid Thorin Oakenshield and his Company of Dwarves. Bilbo leaves the comforts of the Shire on a journey through Middle-earth to help the Dwarves reclaim their lost Kingdom of Erebor within the Lonely Mountain. Along the way, he is introduced to ravenous Trolls, dangerous Orcs and, of course, Gollum and his precious Ring. Players will utilize and combine the Dwarves' unique abilities - often with hilarious results - to solve the most diverse Quests of any LEGO videogame to date.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Good Lego Game April 10, 2014
Platform for Display:Playstation 4|Verified Purchase
The Lego teams just keep getting better.

Eye Candy is stepped up alittle for the Next Gen (PS4)
Controls are just like they have always been with the lego games not completely 100% on execution of the movements but not enough to keep you from complete enjoyment.
Soundtrack is 100% Middle Earth (Hobbit/LOTR)
10gb is what it will take up on your PS4 hard drive.

Adventure, Puzzles and lots of legos. What else could you ask for?

If you seen the first two movies you know what to expect story wise.
If you haven't seen the first 2 Hobbit movies you may want to watch as may contain some spoilers for your movie enjoyment.

Enjoyment for the whole household. 5 and Up.

I see the Media is giving this average and less than average scores.
This Game you can spend hours just exploring.
It has its moments with camera angles. but what game dont?
Items you pick up can be used for the section you use them at for building Bridges and other items.
Great learning tool for the building part for the young ones as they can look at the shape and match it by selecting the next piece.

Hours of enjoyment with or without the kids.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun but buggy April 18, 2014
Platform for Display:Playstation 4|Verified Purchase
Today we reached 100% completion on the game and 82% on the trophies. The game play is as fun as we've come to expect from playing just about every lego game since Star Wars. Smash everything you can can and interact with anything that glows and you're good to go. This is the first lego game we were able to get through everything with only checking on walkthroughs a few times. Loved the red brick for Middle Earth Carnival so had that turned on just about constantly after unlocking it. The addition of mining and fighting for loot and building structures in the hub and levels was also fun and interesting. We enjoyed it more than Lego Lord of the Rings even though we like the movies this game is based on less. I also want to mention that the last several Lego games caused me some motion sickness when first starting and this was no exception.

There are similar weird bugs in every lego game so we're used to some issues but this one seemed to have a few more than we were expecting. Things we didn't like:
* You can no longer change characters in the hub until after you've completed story mode on all the levels. We like taking breaks from levels to open up hub items and we couldn't do that this time unless we happened to get the character(s) we needed when exiting a level.
* The yellow trail studs leading you around the map weren't always complete from where you were to where you needed to go. There was a lot of hopping to different eagle points and jumping off of trails in the hopes of the studs appearing to finish getting you someplace. This is where we had to use walkthroughs to find some of the quest or character locations. Not sure if a bug or bad programming
* Several times while in co-op when one person would travel by eagle the whole game would slow down.

5.0 out of 5 stars Deeper Than The Mines of Moria! April 10, 2014
By Mike P

Like Lego Marvel Superheros Lego Hobbit has a surprising open world to explore in addition to the story based missions that follow the events of the movies. This open world is where the real depth of the game is showcased. I have to continually remind myself to focus when heading to the next story mission because I easily get sidetracked by the numerous side quests that are available in the open world.

While not finished with the game thus far I have found the game covers very accurately covers the movies with a little bit of the child-level humor Lego games are known for. The voice work is all pulled from the movie so you're hearing the actual actors deliver their lines rather than a voice over guy trying to imitate Sir Ian McKellen. It really ads to the experience.

New to the Lego series with The Hobbit is the system of crafting and looting. This is what really sets the game apart from its predecessors and it promises hours of additional gameplay after you've finished the main story. With every item you smash for studs you can also get materials. You use those materials to fulfill side quests or create unique items via blacksmithing. The unique items require blueprints though so you have to find those in missions and in the open world. It promises to keep me busy for quite some time!

Overall I enjoy the gameplay, the story, and am pleasantly surprised with how much there is to do in the game. It is my new favorite entry in the Lego series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth it June 29, 2014

The story is great, the graphics are great, and crafting is a hoot. The campaign (for such an epic adventure) is far too short. Ran through it in a couple days. Being able to run around the sandbox doing anything you want after the story with basically no main objective is fun a novel for a while. At some point you realized you've created a beast of an account but with nothing to use the mounds of loot and unlocks toward. Still, its an absolute riot.
