5.0 out of 5 stars Works great, easy starting and no gasoline/oil exhaust smell !
This is a very nice blower, I filled the oil reservoir and about 5 pulls later I was using the blower. After the blower was warmed up it started with one pull. The size of this blower is just slightly bigger than my old gas Homelite blower due to the bottom handle and larger rectangular body, this blower also weighs about a pound and a half more than the old one, which...

3.0 out of 5 stars Lehr Propane Blower
Recieved blower in just a few days. Right out of box the blower's propane canister clamp would not work properly. Called Lehr and they sent out a replacement (it took 10 days). After using it the second time the black exhaust tube developed a break. Called Lehr again and they said they would send one out (it has been 2 weeks and still not here). Lehr's customer service...

This is a very nice blower, I filled the oil reservoir and about 5 pulls later I was using the blower. After the blower was warmed up it started with one pull. The size of this blower is just slightly bigger than my old gas Homelite blower due to the bottom handle and larger rectangular body, this blower also weighs about a pound and a half more than the old one, which is not really a big deal. The best thing about this blower is that after using it I dont have that gasoline/oil exhaust smell on my clothing, also I dont have to store gasoline or mess with filling the tank with the gas/oil mixture. Screwing the propane cylinder on and off is easy and mess free. Other than that it is pretty much the same as the old gas blower, the engine runs smoothly and it blows comparable to the gas model. I would highly recommend this blower over a gas, electric or battery powered blower.

Lehr's customer service seems very helpful and cooperative, just seems to take a long time to get warranty replacement parts. A few comments... engine starts after 4 or 5 pulls, as expected, and runs smoothly. Air intake is dangerously close to your body for right handers. You have to keep and eye on any of your clothes that may be hanging around the intake. I had a string from my shorts that was sucked in and chopped off. In conclusion, blower is cheaply made for $200. It is built on par with a low end gas blower that sells for half the money. I am still willing to give this blower a chance because of my dislike of gas engines. If it starts year after years with no troubles I can live with it's cheap construction. Only time will tell.

4.0 out of 5 stars Propane Powered Blower/Vac, May 6, 2010

The first model I received was defective. It initially started but quit on the second use. The return process went well and received a replacement in short order. It would have been nice to know the weight of the unit. It is somewhat cumbersome for a woman to handle. Perhaps a future design would incoporate a lift handle on the back of the machine rather than the front. Otherwise, the unit performs nicely and enjoy not having to store gasoline and oil mixture. The power is not as powerful as a gasoline model of similar cost but considering the environmental benefits, this is a better choice.

2.0 out of 5 stars poor service from Lehr?, July 23, 2010

I bought this blower over one month ago thinking that it would be nice to use a green (less polluting) product like this. Upon opening the box, I found the air intake guard called "cage" was broken. This is perhaps due to poor manufacture's packaging design. I could use it with the broken cage but it may be dangerous to do so. In the box, I also found a sheet of paper saying that I should call the manufacturer for any problems rather than sending it back to the retailer. I contacted Lehr by internet and got an immediate (with in one hour or so) reply from the service department promising a replacement part and asking for the serial number. It was nice to get such a quick action. I sent the number within a day but got no further communication from Lehr. In a week or so, I wrote e-mail asking for the status and got a simple answer again immediately saying that he (my service rep) will take care of..... I waited for two more weeks (total 3 weeks) and decided to return the unit to Amazon. My thought was that it maybe a problem if I can not get a repair part in case something goes wrong. Besides, the air speed is not as fast as I want. I have used 5 different blowers including a very cheap ($60) gas blower but have never seen anything this slow. I do not mean it is not adequate but simply saying that the speed is not as fast as those gas blowers I have experienced with.
Returning the blower to Amazon was very easy. I got a return authorization by internet instantaneously and UPS showed up at the door to pick it up on the following day. In a few days after that, I got a mail message from Amazon that they received the returned blower and would give me the full purchase price refund. Since I am a primer member, I did not pay any shipping. On the same day, I went to Sears and bought a gas blower for about one half of what I paid for this Lehr blower. My previous blower from Sears last 10 years from weekly heavy use and was still running at the time I got rid of. The new Sears blower I bought is very similar to this Lehr blower in design and functions but its air speed is said to be 40% faster and I can feel it. I tried to be green and willing to pay more. But I want to have something better than this in terms of product design and especially service.

Got this about a month ago. It was bought to replace a Black & Decker battery powered blower. I've used this a few times now. Usually starts before the 5th pull. It works well. A lot better then the Black & Decker. I even tried the attachment to suck up the leaves and chop them. That worked ok, not great, but ok. Overall the product works great though.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great product, December 5, 2010

Bought this item because I did not want to store gasoline, so propane fuel fit the ticket. It works very well. Powerful stream of air. I only gave it 4 stars as it is very cheaply made. Quality does not compare with any other blowers on the market, and I own quite a few. I suspect something will break at some point , we shall see if parts are available. Also, the item is very pricey. It should be much cheaper based on the materials it is made of. But, over all it is a good solution for not dealing with gasoline and I would rate it 5 stars for the environmental impact. Overall satisfied!

So easy to use right out of the box. Fill with oil....screw on propane tank...three light pulls and the blower was running. Way more power than I expected....just as much as a gas powered, and quieter than my old messy 2-stroke. I'm told that since it burns so clean that the "life span" of this machine should be 2-3 times that of a 2 stroke gas/oil, with none of the maintenance. No more issues with old oil/gas mix laying around, and I love making a contribution to a cleaner environment!!

1.0 out of 5 stars LEHR Propane Blower/VAC, May 2, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: LEHR BV025HH 25cc 4-Stroke Propane Powered 150 mph Eco Blower/Vac (Lawn & Patio)
This was my worse purchase. I bought this for my husband; I knew he would appreciate going green and using propane over gas. I was impressed by the video. Out of the box this unit would not turn on. My husband tried 3 new propane canisters to ensure it wasn't a propane issue. He made his arm sore from pulling the cord so many times trying to start the unit. Not once did it kick over. I called the toll free number twice and left messages - no reply. My husband called 3 times - he only left 1 message call back or we will return product-still no return call. Also noted it seemed like the toll free phone number went to a individual not a business even though the man stated he was LEHR service. We returned unit. Absolutely no tech support. They evidently don't need customers.

I really like the propane engine. Easily starts with one hand, one pull. Only problem I have had is with the leaf bag. I have used it once and had to repair 2 busted seams in the bag

4.0 out of 5 stars Needs Adjusting, September 27, 2010

It was easy to set up and start right out of the box, but failed to idle or acheive full run speed. After an intial 30 minute run time, it would not start at all. A call to the service center (10A-7PM EST) helped me disassemble the cover and the carburetor. It required significant adjustments of the throttle cable and slide to run and idle properly. This procedure would not be easy for a non-DIY-er. I have only used it briefly since then, but it has started easily and seems to run well now. It is heavier then my gas/oil blower and is not as powerful, but not prohibitively so. Like all blowers I've ever owned, the air intake is unfortunately on the left hand side. Being right handed, it is aligned in such a way, there is no way to avoid it sucking my pant leg. I have fabricated an aluminum cover for the intake and zip-tied it so that should eliminate this problem. Leaf Blower designers could take a lesson on this. I use the propane cannisters for my camp stove so had purchased a connector to refill them from a 20lb tank. I can get the 20lb tank filled for $18 so I am looking forward to saving money and the enviroment!
