Ideal for occasional day hikers, LEKI's Trail Blue Enzian Poles provide support and stability out on the trail. They feature three-section, 7075 Series heat-treated aluminum shafts which adjust from 67 to 145 centimeters. The standard expander locking system allows the pole length to be adjusted quickly and easily for a secure hold. LEKI's Triple Spring System can be adjusted to three different levels of cushioning for extra comfort and reduced pole plant impact while descending trails. Automatic straps adjust without the use of a buckle for added convenience and comfort. Shaft sections carry a lifetime warranty against breakage.

About LEKI

LEKI, the world’s leading manufacturer of ski, hiking and trekking poles, had its start in Kircheim, Germany as a hobby of its founder, Karl Lenhart, an airframe mechanic and avid skier. Lenhart believed aluminum would make a superior ski pole compared to the heavy steel models available in the late 1940’s. After successfully creating lightweight poles for his friends, in 1954, the hobby became a full time business. LEKI originated the use of nylon webbing for straps and created plastic molded grips and baskets in place of metal and leather. In 1984, Klaus Lenhart, Karl’s son, assumed leadership and shortly there after developed the first dual-component grip. He is also responsible for improving adjustable pole-locking technology and grip innovations such as the Trigger Click-In system and COR-TEC, a material made of real cork and latex. As the ski market continued to flourish, LEKI began manufacturing hiking poles primarily for European mountain guides. The concept of using two poles as means of relieving stress on knee joints and the lower back appealed to climbers who also saw benefits in performance and safety. LEKI poles eventually caught on with the general hiking and trekking population that recognized and appreciated the preventive health benefits as well as the climbing support and stabilizing effects. In 1990, LEKI USA was incorporated. The North American market has embraced the company’s line of alpine, Nordic, back country, mountaineering, Nordic walking, and trekking poles. While some product descriptions (not Amazon's) give the impression that these poles, like others by Leki, include a shock absorbing system, they actually do not. In this price range, I would expect that they would have them. They also do not come with the rubber walking tips for use on pavement or hard surfaces. These must be bought separately.

I wish they had rubber tips included or an option, I had to find a place to buy them. Otherwise they're great.

I took these hiking poles on a 7 day hiking trip on the West Coast Trail in BC, Canada. This trail is extremely rugged (huge boulders, mud, rivers, beach sands) and the poles helped to provide extra support and balance. By accident this pole was thrown from a small rock shelf about 10 meters high and they survived. Poles were light enough and the retracting feature came in handy when they needed to be stowed.
