Ideal for any season, LEKI's popular and versatile Ultralite Ti Ergometric Poles offer performance, a light weight, and durability. The poles feature high-grade aluminum technology, which provides a smaller diameter, thinner wall tubing, and a proprietary heat-treating (tempering) process. The poles have an adjustment range of 62-130 centimeters while LEKI's Super Lock System allows the pole length to be adjusted with the least amount of torque (hand strength) and offers a very secure hold on any terrain and surface. Automatic comfort straps adjust without the use of a buckle for convenience and comfort. Like all LEKI trekking poles, the carbide flextips are replaceable. Shaft sections carry a lifetime warranty against breakage.

About LEKI

LEKI, the world’s leading manufacturer of ski, hiking and trekking poles, had its start in Kircheim, Germany as a hobby of its founder, Karl Lenhart, an airframe mechanic and avid skier. Lenhart believed aluminum would make a superior ski pole compared to the heavy steel models available in the late 1940’s. After successfully creating lightweight poles for his friends, in 1954, the hobby became a full time business. LEKI originated the use of nylon webbing for straps and created plastic molded grips and baskets in place of metal and leather. As the ski market continued to flourish, LEKI began manufacturing hiking poles primarily for European mountain guides. LEKI poles eventually caught on with the general hiking and trekking population that recognized and appreciated the preventive health benefits as well as the climbing support and stabilizing effects. I bought these poles to take on a long hiking/backpacking trip through South America. I choose this particular model because 1) they are highly rated on backpacking/hiking gear web sites 2) they are ultralight and I didn't want a lot of weight in my pack when I'm not using them, 3) they are mid-range in terms of price. Never having used poles seriously I didn't want anything too cheap, nor did I want to pay twice the price for high-end poles that I might not like using.

This was an excellent purchase. The poles are really light (they add minimal weight to my pack when they are not in use), they appear to be very strong (I'm the wrong side of 200lbs) and the grips are very comfortable. With time and more experience I might consider more expensive poles, but I doubt it. Paying twice the price brings minimal reductions in weight - I'm not competing in anything, I don't think I'd notice the difference.

Highly recommend these as a first set of hiking poles, or if you are looking to upgrade from heavy, entry level poles.

I own three different models of Leki poles. All are excellent for their purpose. I bought the Leki Ti Ultralite for travel. They collapse to a size that will fit into my travel bag. Unfortunately, I do have to check the bag as these poles are not allowed as carry on. Leki poles make excellent self defense weapons if the need should arise to rid yourself of an attacking dog or other critter.
I found them good performers on a 3 mile test trek. Granted the more expensive poles like Super Makalu by Leki have the built in shock absorber and are more substantial. But, they have to be taken apart for travel. And, they extend too far beyond my backpack. These Leki Ti poles are great for carrying on backpack when not in use on trail. Lifetime warranty is also attractive. These no longer show up on Leki's web site, so who knows if they will be available again.

I have to agree that for the price, these poles are excellent. I have taken them on several hikes/trips and they save the knees. I highly encourage even novice hikers to invest in any pole that fits there budget. Your knees will thank you.
