5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect as both walking stick & cane - perfectly engineered
After spraining my ankle on the Island of Staffa in Scotland, I bought my Leki more for a cane than a walking stick. The Antishock makes it very easy on the hand. However, for the past few years I have used it primarily as a walking stick. And I love it. It is easy to use, easy on the hands, easy to adjust, strong, light-weight, sturdy and durable. When compressed it fits...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great product for the right person
As always this Leki makes a great product but you have to match the type with the person. I needed the stick to be able to stretch out another 7 inches. If the height suits you it is a great product. I love the handle and wish I could find more types of walking stick with this handle. I have an old one that I will just have to stick ( not very funny pun) with.

When compressed it fits diagonally in a large suitcase so I can take it when heading to birding locations. When extended, it works wonderfully as a walking staff. Honestly, it is one of the favorite things I own because it is so perfect at what it does. Brilliant.

5.0 out of 5 stars LEKI walking stick, January 5, 2009

I agree entirely with the previous review. I have had mine for several years and cannot get along without it. For me, the biggest advantage is the adjustability for length. Most canes advertised on the Internet are 36 inches long. This is barely long enough for a six-footer and way too short for a taller man.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not just for hikers, March 15, 2010

I bought this for a friend who has terrible arthritis in her knees. She has tried different types of walking sticks and nothing works like the Leki. The cork handle along with the telescoping pole relieves the pressure on her hands. She literally uses it all day, every day. I only wish they made a version that was a bit more elegant and stylish rather than simply functional.

I love this cane. I've never had a better handle on a cane, and I have quite a few. You won't regret getting this.

This review is from: LEKI Wanderfreund Antishock Trekking Pole - 1 Pole (Apparel)
I have used the Antishock Trekking Pole as a cane everyday for over a year and I love it. I am a stroke survivor and found regular canes clumsy and hard for me to manage.

What I love about it:
1. It is very light weight and easy to carry and use.
2. I can adjust the height to accommodate different shoe height and different terrain. It is always the perfect length for what I need.
3. The cord on the handle is great. I keep it around my wrist and I never drop my cane anymore. Also I can let go of the cane to get into my purse or reach for something and it stays around my wrist and is there when I start walking.
4. The carbide tip is great for icy conditions, if you have to go out in bad weather.
5. Antishock and the ability to adjust it to the perfect height has really cut down on the stress to my wrist.
6. Ok, I admit it, it looks sportier than a cane from physical therapy!

What you need to know:
1. The rubber tip does get slick if it gets wet or in restaurants with greasy floors. Just be careful in those situations.
2. Check your cane to make sure that the adjustable sections are tight. I have never had a problem, but I do check them often.

I have recommended this pole to many people. I hope you find it as great as I have.

Love it--best trekking pole made. Light as a feather and very strong. The anti-shock feature really improves the feel over regular poles.
