LEM 5 lb. vert. stuffer - Definitely the best bang for your buck,
By

"Great product" really says it all. Hands down the best value out there when comparing apples to apples.
What I like: A couple of features I would consider to be mandatory for a stuffer in this category: all stainless steel construction and all metal gears (the latter being an absolute must if you're processing lots of meat). Looks and feels like quality - it's built like a tank. The piston and o-ring assembly fit very tight in the cylinder so you don't have meat squishing back up above the piston. It DOES have a pressure relief valve on top of the piston, a feature NOT listed in the product description on the site where I purchased mine (another mandatory feature). It's fast and smooth, taking only about 2 minutes to stuff 5 lbs. of bratwurst into a 35mm hog casing. What I dislike: Nothing really but to be really nitpicky it could've come with stainless steel stuffing tubes. What I would change: Nothing. Like I said above - hands down the best bang for your sausage stuffing buck.

This sausage stuffer is perfect for home use. Sturdy construction with all metal gears, it will last a lifetime. Easy to use and very easy clean up. The Amazon price is amazing given that this is all stainless steel and very well built. Best value for money that I have seen in a long time.

After trying to stuff with my meat grinder which essential disintegrates the meat as it goes back through the worm again I purchased this and could not be happier. I questioned one of LEM's customer service reps before placing my order and she was very helpful.
It's excellent for those small batches and even when you are doing more weight it's a quick refill or hot and sweet sopressata the can is easily cleaned and ready to go for the next batch. I agreed with another post I think S/S tubes would have been nice or maybe even longer ones. I find it difficult to fit the hog hank lengths I get from the butcher and have to cut them down but that's really digging for a negative. The only thing I would recommend as an additional purchase to this product is a food grade lubricant. I noticed after a few washes the silicone gasket that presses through the tube gets a bit dry and this is one spot that was lubricated out of the box so I keep up with it. Excellent product. Very satisfied.

This stuffer had the one thing I wanted when buying a reasonably priced stuffer.........metal gears. I have heard horror stories about the plastic/nylon gears stripping out. So, this was the idea stuffer for me. I used it about 3 weeks ago to stuff 50 pounds of soppressatta, and it worked flawlessly from beginning to end. I would buy this stuffer over and over again.

I have owned by LEM stuffer for over a year. I tried a couple other non vertical stuffers and had real problems with them. The LEM was and is so much better than anything I have tried. My wife runs the handle, I do the stuffing horn management and we crank out the meat sticks and sausages quickly. One person can do it just fine, but two is really quick. This stuffer is well worth the money. Buy it.

The pros is this is fantastic product. I went through 15 lbs of fresh sausage in less than half hour. The price is right, the machine is very solid and very easy to use. The con is I felt so sorry for all the time I wasted over the years doing it with a grinder and attachment which used to take hours, a stool to get taller so I can push down on the meat, and arm pain. If you are serious about sausages, this is the machine. Frankly, I don't see the need for the larger models, it takes extra three minutes every time you load a 5 lb patch.

I used the LEM 5lb Vertical Stuffer for the first time this weekend. One of the best purchases I made involving food products. I used to use the sausage stuffer attachment to meat grinder of my kitchen aid mixer. After working with the kitchen aid for about six months and realizing that my family could not eat store bought sausage anymore (as the sausage we make is leaner and more favorable with some spices) I had to decrease my production time as the mixer attachment was more then half the time to get the casings stuffed. Now stuffing the casings only took 10 minutes for 3 1/2 lbs of meat. And the majority of that time was getting the casings on the tube.
The only negative is that the stuffer does not come with a 3/8" tube attachment. We only like making skinny sausage and it took a while of stretching the casing over the 1/2" tube. The stuffer is a very well built appliance especially with the metal gears. I am glad I spent the additional money.

and at roughly half the price of the comparable stainless steel Sausage-Maker machine. The LEM is easy to set up, use, and clean. The clamping system made it stable and is just right for our kitchen where we don't want it permanently in place, although you can permanently fix it to a base. The instructions are clear and straightforward. Best value for money and highly recommended for home sausage making.

I bought this product over a couple others that were slightly cheaper because this one had metal gears. The others had plastic gears and some buyers complained of cracking the gear teeth. I have made over 50 pounds of sausage now and feel that I can now express an informed opinion. The product works great and I am happy with my choice!!

If you're interested in making your own homemade sausages, this is one tool you can't afford to be without. I've tried the 'horn' type stuffer, and the Kitchenaid FG stuffer attachment, and neither one is worth the carboard box they come in.
This stuffer is altogether different. First, the ONLY plastic components are the plunger disc, the tube retainer and the handle, and by handle, I mean the part you hold on to... not the crank itself. This past weekend, I put up around 20 pounds of sausage, and this thing will indeed crank out about 5 pounds in 2-3 minutes. The only problems I had was with the casings, and that's another issue. With the exception of about 1/3 of a link's worth that's left in the feed tube, you get all 5 pounds of the sausage out of the can. Cleanup is really easy, as the plunger disc is food grade plastic, and unscrews from the central worm gear. Another nice feature is an air relief valve in the plunger disc. Simple design, but very effective in releasing the air trapped in the can. The ONLY thing I had problems with, and it's not the product, but rather my kitchen, is that the stuffer tends to want to tip over when you're cranking the plunger down. Ideally, you would drill 4 holes in your work surface, and fasten it with bolts/wing nuts. Wife wouldn't let me drill 4 holes in the countertop, so I'm going to look for some suction cups, and see if that will work. This may seem a bit expensive, but it's certainly an investment in your kitchen arsenal. |
