This review is from: L'Epopee Du Rock (Audio CD)
At last, in 1961, France discovered R'n R and Vince Taylor took the country by storm. With his Play-Boys, he was coming from England where Cliff Richard was the strong number one. The idea of Eddie Barclay ( Barclay records) was to fight the french idol, Johnny Hallyday. Without success, because french teens wanted french singing rockers, and the violence of Vince's shows frightened parents and medias . In Paris, the Palais des Sports was distroyed by fans during a concert, and for Vince it was the beginning of the fall. A Meteoric career. But on stage,Vince Taylor was the greatest i ever saw, and i saw a lot ,from Chuck Berry to Rammstein. According to a legend, Vince was the model of Bowie's Ziggy Stardust. Vince was not Elvis, he had not a great voice, but sometimes...Listen "Twenty Flight Rock", and the fabulous drumming of Bobby Clarke, or "Shaking all Over"...This is Rock'n'roll! Vince is also the writer of "Brand new Cadillac",recorded by The Clash on London Calling. He's now rolling in a brand new Cadillac in the skies...
