5.0 out of 5 stars Great Juicer Period
I spent months researching juicers and surfing veggie themed threads. That research paid off because after owning this juicer for a year, we're still as thrilled as the first day it arrived. I bought it from cooking.com because Amazon wasn't selling it at the time. The price seems to be about the same still.

3.0 out of 5 stars An ok juicer
We bought this juicer after our old Juiceman (purchased at a garage sale) finally pooped out. I think I'm a little sorry I didn't just get another Juiceman. The L'equip is just as noisy as our old juicer was, but it yields far less juice and jams quickly on hard veggies like carrots and beets. This juicer is ok, but it's definitely not for everyday use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Juicer Period, May 15, 2004

I spent months researching juicers and surfing veggie themed threads. That research paid off because after owning this juicer for a year, we're still as thrilled as the first day it arrived. I bought it from cooking.com because Amazon wasn't selling it at the time. The price seems to be about the same still.

My wife and I juice everyday and the juicer is sooo easy to clean. Just put a plastic bag in the pulp receptacle and you're good to go. One less item to wash. We use a toothbrush on the blade basket and a regular sponge on the bowl. The blade/basket and bowl are stainless steel. Those infomercial juicers use cheap plastic wherever possible. Trust me, you're only paying for advertising with those TV juicers. This is the real deal. It's quieter than our blender and one large apple, 3 carrots and two oranges yields us two massive glasses of juice. It also has a small foot print. I bought one for my mother and my wife is getting one for her sister.

If you have a large family you might want to skip the mini and go for the regular sized L'Equip but many online reviews say that the mini is actually better for some reason. All I can say is that it is more than enough for a family of four. After a year, the blades are still sharp although not as sharp as new but still going strong. If you're looking for THE BEST JUICER for less than 100 bucks this is it!!

My Jack LaLane infomercial juicer only lasted a year and a half. It had a plastic screw on the motor where it met a metal nut on the blade assembly. Needless to say, the plastic wore away, rendering the juicer unusable unless you own a machine shop. I am having electrolyte problems, so I need to juice daily. I found this one at the health food store, but went home, because it said "mini" on the box. I looked online at reviews and decided to take a chance on this one. I am very pleased with my choice!

The juicer is really small, but more powerful than the Jack La Lane. The feed shoot is smaller, but you will not need to chop the carrots in half. I love the stainless steel feed basket, because it will not stain orange over time. The only con is that the juice quantity is low compared to the Jack LaLane. I will try the tip about feeding more slowly to get more juice. There was no pulp in the juice. I always feed my lettuce leaves wrapped around my celery, but would still have some clogging with the Jack LaLane, no clogging with this one!

It also has a 6 year warranty on the whole juicer. The part of my prior juicer that went out only had a 90 day warranty. Also, they don't tell you on the infomercial that the one payment that they waive they will get back in the ridiculous cost they charge for shipping, so I would suggest you get one of the juicers like this one from a reputable source with a long warranty on the whole juicer.

I am very pleased with this juicer. I have used my sister's premium juicer a couple of times and this compares well.

It handles everything well that I have tried including delicate leaf, hard and soft vegetables, several fruits and melons with seeds and rinds. The yield is good as shown by the dry pulp. Yield does depend on produce type and quality as with all juicers. The speed that the produce is pushed into the blade also affects it. Its power invites vigorous processing so press slowly and at a steady rate, as recommended in the manual, if you want more juice. And process different items in order of increasing tendency to clog the strainer and declining juice content.

Cleanup is easy except for the pulp basket. The sharp corners of this bat wing shaped container are hard to get to when hand cleaning -- this is no problem in the dishwasher or if you line it with a plastic bag to collect pulp to throw out as most do. I sometimes save the pulp, add water to make a slurry, season it and then drink or spoon it to get the extra fiber. It's not always appetizing but neither is Metamucil.

One reviewer pointed out that the plastic ring on top of the metal juice bowl provides a place for food residue to hide. The ring seems to fit tight and any gap there is too small see. I haven't seen any particles there after processing but they would be small since this area is exposed only to juice after passing through the strainer. To be safe, I rinse it immediately after juicing and run a toothbrush around the edge to loosen any residue that might be unseen after brushing the straner basket.

The manual is very concise. It only gives assembly and cleaning instructions along with some cursory juicing tips, so you may need a separate book for recipes and more tips.

I really like the contrast of the gray (it's also available in traditional white) and amber plastic along with the polished stainless. The dark amber cover won't show stains like those from carrots on normal clear ones. The unit also seems to be well made -- maybe you've already guessed I'm an engineer. I am confident enough with its construction to order a replacement blade to have when this one gets dull.

4.0 out of 5 stars Juicing Revisited, January 5, 2005

My first thought was..this is a MINI machine???? Wow!

I gave up juicing in 1990 - cleaning the machine wasn't worth the effort. (A juice stand in Cairo, Egypt was delighted to have it. Can't think why.) So, I see some progress has been made in the "user friendly" department. And that's nice. The 110.5 fits the bill. Only a complete slob would find it difficult to clean. But there's still lots of bits & pieces to work on. It's very easy to use, and that's great for me as I have no patience with appliances. I haven't a whole lot to compare it to, but I don't think it will be donated to Goodwill or put in the basement anytime soon. You'll be happy with it. Just a pity there's no recipe book with it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good almost as much as expected, March 26, 2005

The unit is not very noisy, is easy to clean (with the help of a toothbrush on the basket), it is very solid and takes up little space. The yield is quite good, the feeding tube is not too small, and it comes with a 6-year warranty.

The design of the top chute is poor: clippings often collect in the chute rather than in the bin, which also lets escape some amount of clippings, due to the gap between the bin and the chute. Use a plastic bag inside the bin and roll it over the chute, to minimize the mess.
The juice nozzle lets too much air through, which results in some overspray. The nozzle should really be changed to point down, into the glass. Also, the feeding tube is quite short, and seeds sometimes may fly back out from it, at considerable speed.

In all, a very good choice for low volume juicing.

After doing some research, I had trouble deciding between this juicer and the Breville JE600. Both models have 600W power. However the Breville costs more, has a somewhat larger footprint, but also a much larger feed chute (and it did get a multitude of rave reviews). The L'Equip mini, on the other hand, was recommended on a juicing website as a great buy < $100. It was a toss-up, and I ended up buying the L'Equip just because it was the cheaper model, thinking that if it didn't work out, I could always return it and try the Breville. Well, I like the L'Equip so much that it's a keeper!

I did not buy this with juice in mind, rather I bought this to make dog food prep faster and easier, and it does exactly that. I went through 3 lbs of carrots in about 2 min, which is far faster than using the food processor, whose blade needed cleaning every 3 or 4 carrots. Still, I thought maybe $90 was too much money to spend just to process veggies for the dog once a week, and considered returning the juicer. But THEN out of curiosity I threw in a few pieces of fruit, just to see how it did...and I was hooked! I LOVE JUICING! I'd never juiced before because I love fruit, and would rather eat it than toss any part of it out. In fact, I eat several pieces of fruit a day. Well now, I eat several pieces a day, and drink several more! I can't get enough of all the delicious combinations: apricots, peaches, apples, carrots, grapes, whatever's cheap today, whatever's in season. I made the best bloody mary mix ever out of fresh tomatoes and celery! I make several glasses of juice per day and don't mind the cleanup.

We don't have a dishwasher, so cleanup has to be easy for me to use this several times a day. I do line the pulp bin (which is oddly shaped like a batwing) with a plastic bag, as many have recommended with other juicers, to avoid washing that piece. The juicer cover and juice bowl are a cinch to wash. The mesh screen/blade requires more effort. I've found using a toothbrush I can get it clean in less than 5 min. This would almost be too much effort for a lazy slob like me, but I like the juice so much it's worth it. I've found one exception: for some reason, tomato pulp really likes to stick to the screen, and cleaning it up is no picnic, requiring much brushing. This just means bloody marys less often, which isn't a bad thing. I suppose.

As for pulp, generally the harder fruits and veggies (i.e. apples, carrots, beets and the like) give a pretty dry pulp. Juicier fruits like peaches and nectarines deliver a mushier pulp, of course, but I don't seem to be losing any juice. Nor have I experienced any juice leaking or pulp escaping from the unit. One con: smaller feed chute means food prep: ya gotta cut the apples and other larger fruits/veggies. Also, I haven't tried juicing any leafy greens so I can't vouch for that function. I did read that centrifugal juicers aren't really meant to juice leafy greens, so I probably won't be trying it out.

For my first juicer I'm extremely pleased with the L'Equip mini, and hope it lasts a long time.

I have had many juicers in the past, and they were all just so-so. Too noisey; too big; too underpowered; too hard to clean. The 'L Equip 110.5 Mini Pulp Ejector Juicer is by far, THE best juicer I have had! It has as good size motor (600) and yet doesn't blow you clear out of the kitchen. It can handle just about anything I place in it- without too much cutting up of product. And, it's a snap to clean! Another bonus, is its price. You just can't go wrong! I highly recommend this juicer!

4.0 out of 5 stars easy to clean / great warranty, April 19, 2005
By
I purchased this juicer on clearance at Sams club a couple years ago for less than $25. For the price I paid you can not go wrong with this unit. I am not sure if I would pay $100 for it, so I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5.

I do not use the juicer as often as I'd like, but I have had no problems with it. The case & all is very sturdy. I was surprised when I lifted the box at just how heavy the unit is. It is built to last. It also has a 7 year warranty which can't be beat.

The juicer is also easy to clean. Yes, it is more difficult than throwing out an empty coke can, but very easy for a juicer.

This is a great juicer for the novice. It's very easy to disassemble and clean and the juice extraction is excellent. There are certainly other juicers out there that promise more, but this Mini Pulp Juicer does a fab job at a fraction of the cost. I use mine at least 4 times a week for fresh orange, grapefruit and carrot juices.

This is a good value for the dollar.
