I have listened to many types of music, but rarely have I found an album where every single song was so enjoyable. Great variety. The best way for me to describe this CD is: INTENSE- the music is absolutely beautiful, POWERFUL- the vocalists are spectacular, SEDUCTIVE & FULL OF RHYTHM- makes you want to dance no matter where you are. If you like the Gypsy Kings, European Music mixed with Middle Eastern music... you'll love this CD. A pure pleasure to listen to and dance to. It took my breath away.....

Whether you can understand the lyrics or not, this CD is outstanding. Sung in an uplifting blend of Arabic and Spanish, and accompanied by delightful instrumentalists, L'Essentiel is a perfect choice for the discerning music collector. Lead vocalist Ishtar has a rich, melodious voice to complement the warm, sweet strummings of her band, Los Ninos de Sara. Of particular interest are: the energetic "Salma Ya Salama," the moody, sensual "Eshebo (Chebba)" and the heartbreaking ballad "Linda." Also notable are two covers: "Lolole (Don't Let me be Misunderstood)" and the irresistible, thumping beat of "Vengan Vengan (Ya Habaybi, Ya Ghaybine)," originally sung by Farid El Attrache. Finally, Ishtar extends her vocal talents to a sexy French tune, "Comme Toi." Overflowing with 18 international hits, L'Essentiel is just as necessary to your CD collection! Enjoy!

This is one of the best CDs. Alabina's singing is fast paced and when you hear the songs, you just want to get up and dance. She's got a wonderful strong voice. This CD includes a few songs that were previously released and are included in one of her other CDs. The rhythm, the language, the sound...creates this mood elevating experience! This CD also includes her singing in Hebrew (track #10--Eshebo). I've heard this song a little differently, but her version is excellent too! #15 is new and it is all in Spanish. Anyway, its great, you'll probably enjoy it!

There are so many reasons why I love and adore this woman: Maybe it's because any CD of her, is an ultimate experience of "Fusion": She sings in English, French, Spanish and Arab, her music is a wonderful blend of Flamenco, Latin, House and Arab music. Los Niños de Sara, being three fabulous Spanish Flamenco guitarists and a very good singer, are intervowen perfectly to Alabina's singing which is mainly in Arabic. A lot of the times she again is accompanied by a fantastic sounding Arab orchestra, with wicked darabuka drums and beats. And yes, there's even another reason, why she's so damn good: Her music is the very best against bad moods and against the misery of a boring rainy Sunday afternoon. Put her on, loud, hear the Latin beats, the Guitars and her beautiful singing and you just get up and dance away your depressions! Honest!

Eti Zach ("Ishtar") and "Los Ni??os de Sara" perhaps are the best flamenco group at the moment, sustaining with the inclusion of the Middle East. To speak of "Alabina" is to speak the fantasy, forces and enchantment. Ishtar, their female vocalist, is a great israeli singer, able to sing wonderfully in many languages. Personally I fascinate myself when I hear "Eshebo (Chebba)", a very sensual song, and "Shir Hakeshet (Rainbow Song)", the hebrew version of the "Aranjuez Concert". Wonderful melodys like "Salma Ya Salama" of Dalida, and "Lolole (Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood)" (spanish and english) of Santa Esmeralda are excellent remixes of the clasical arabic and flamenco pop music. "Ya Mama Ya Mama" (complety in spanish), "Choukrane", "Vengan, Vengan" and the contagious "Baila Maria" put seal to in the hispanic/arabic style of Alabina. But if there are a song with I vibrate, that is "Alabina", THE SONG of this album, a perfect mixes between gypsy spanish with arabic.
Alabina is the new landmark that born in this century in the pop music, and they unite their name to Ofra Haza, Omar Faruk Tekbilek, Amr Diab, Hakim, Tarkan, Cheb Mami, Mustafa Al Amar, Natacha Atlas, Assi Al Hillani, Ibrahim Tatlises and many others, in the sky of world music divos.

This album should be in every music lover's collection. Ishtar's voice is incredible and Los Ninos De Sara spice it up. One would not ordinarily think that a mixture of Arabic and Spanish would work, but this album illustrates that music is the world's language and that great music is understood by all.

You'll love this CD. Originally I bought this for the track, Alabina, but the rest is amazing. It mixes Spanish, French, and Arabic all into one. There is great variety of music on this CD - from love songs to music you could dance to! A great CD...

If you are looking for some gypsyesque music that fuses Arabic influences with Spanish guitar and vocals than look no further. This disc features the gorgeous Ishtar and Los Ninos de Sara. The sound is simialar to the pop flamenco of the Gipsy Kings but the difference is the voice of Ishtar; believe me, she really makes a difference too. She sings in Arabic and Spanish. This disc is a greatest hits of sorts since it features many of the best recordings from their tenure together. Probably the most recognizable song is the recent international dance music anthem "LoLoLe," which is wonderful remake of Eric Burdon and The Animals song "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood. There is also a remix version of the song but it is not on this disc. Ishtar belts out some interesting vocals in her native Arabic language including that little shrill tongue thing women do. Not having the strongest of voices her sound is nonetheless appealing with her joyous infection. The hipnotic beat of pounding Arabic percussion , intertwined with the male voices and Spanish guitar of Los Ninos De Sara creates an energetic sound perfect for the dance floor. I first heard Ishtar while vacationing in Mexico and the people were really getting into the rousing Arabic-flamenco groove. Ishtar's appeal goes beyond her good looks(a cross between a young Debra Harry of Blondie and Shakira) as she infuses the Arabic vibe with tremendous sensuality via her voice which is downright sexy. The Spanish guitars of Los Ninos De Sara are very much in the style of the Gipsy Kings, as stated before. They offer nice pop flamenco riffs that gently sway, there is nothing bold or innovative but rather it is played safe within the pop context.Read more ›
