I was a STi user and dropped them like a Rock!,

This review is from: LG 225 Prepaid Phone (STi Mobile) (Wireless Phone)
There was a time when STi was one of the best Pay as u go services until they added their every day fees. There is no way to look at your account usage which should be added now that they charge a fee. When you have to roam get ready to pull out your credit card cause it's extra in most areas. Do a search for cellguru.net and find out about the better offers available. But not STi. I liked when there was not a everyday fee and put up with the roam where I just would drive where there was no roam. The minutes I paid for went 85% towards there daily fees. The phone was just a regular flip phone nothing special.

I agree with Chandu's comments. This used to be a great deal, prior to the daily fees which started just months after I got my phone, and still isn't bad but its not the best either. I too fell victim to the web browsing problem. I had read the fine print and knew they would do it so I emailed asking them to cancel it. Assuming they would and using my phone only once a month or less, I was surprised to find my balance near 0 about 6 months later. After emailing again and determining the cause I forwarded my previous email asking to cancel. They claimed they never received it although they admitted the send to address was correct. They offered to cancel it now but said that since "they had no record of my previous email there was nothing they could do about those funds."
I've recently fallen victim to another problem which resulted in even greater loss as I added time/money to my account not long ago. One of the terms taken directly from their terms and conditions is "If you do not maintain a positive balance for 14 consecutive days, or if you do not use your phone for 60 consecutive days, your account will be deactivated and your phone number and voicemail account will be lost." Since I use the phone so infrequently I keep track of this and sometimes have to make a call just to keep it active. What I didn't realize is that text messages don't count as "use." I had received a text message that was a wrong number. Since someone dialed my number, was connected to my phone, and I was charged, I figured it was use. Apparently it wasn't. Of course I didn't learn this until I went to use my phone and it didn't work. I lost the balance in my account and my phone number. I'm looking elsewhere now.

STI is the worst service carrier ever.,

STI is the worst service carrier ever. I called twice to make sure they can transfer the promotional air minutes to another existing account. But after I activated my cell phone, they ate their words.
At the same time, I found whenever I made a phone call, they charge me once the phone call is connected, even though no one answers the phone. This is one of their hidden charges. My experience is so bad, I will never use their service again.

STI Plans are wonderful - if you are an occasional Cell Phone User.,

For 3 years I have subscribed to STI MOBILE. So Affordable, I have 2 cell phones and 2 cell phone plans.
One Phone I keep inside my automobile for emergencies and to phone home about groceries, or that I will be late, etc. The other phone I keep at home in my pocket or jacket as I work around the house or yard; Also would be handy if my regular phone service ever went down.. Each costs only a one time fee of about $5.00 to activate each phone Then only $3.00 a month to keep each alive - and my minutes do not expire! I can purchase $25 or $50 cards - and pay only 8.9 cents per minute, whenever I need to use one of the phones. However, if my minutes go to zero I have about 10 days or so to buy more minutes to keep the phone number. Otherwise, I will lose my number(it happened to me once when I misplaced my phone and then found it after all the minutes had expired.) But, I only had to pay $4.95 to activate it again. Only problem was I had to get a new number. Another choice of plans lets you choose Unlimited Nights and Weekends for $29.99 if you like to use the phone to chat a lot during those times. I have never had any problems getting through with tech support. I have rarely needed to use tech support. I don't know much bout this particular phone; I use the Sanyo 200 flip phone from STI and works well, even after I dropped it a few times. I am very pleased about this low cost way to keep a cell phone around for occasional use. Great for the older person who wants an emergency phone around. You can buy the refill minutes cards a lot of different places, like cheapphonecards dot com at a 3% discount. To add the minutes, simply dial *555 on the cell phone and follow instructions to enter the new phone card PIN. You can also get other options: WEB BROWSING, TEXTING., Press & Talk. Just google at STI MOBILE website. I am going to buy one for my brother for Christmas. He rarely talks on the phone, but there are times when he is on the road that he needs to pull over and find a phone to call his wife. So, this is perfect for his occasiional use.

This review is from: LG 225 Prepaid Phone (STi Mobile) (Wireless Phone)
I make tons of calls to Europe, Hong Kong, China, Canada, and France.
I pay only $50 a month go figure. Yes there service can be bad at times. If I added up all the calls I have made this month alone it would have been 1,860.20 I did the math. I make all these calls for FREE yes I did say FREE for the $50 a month charge. Hats off to you STI for saving me thousands

If you live around a metro area so you don't need roaming, then STI Mobile will give you great phone service at 10 cents per day (that's only $3 a month!) plus 10 cents a minute most anywhere. And your service does not automatically expire after some 30 or 90 days like other phones. Is there any other phone like it? Their service was quick and curtious, and you can get your messages and balance for free using a land line.

Awesome Phone - Great Service!,

I recently switched from a contract cellular plan to a prepaid plan because I was tired of paying high bills, outrageous telecom taxes, etc. After I did a lot of research with various prepaid cell phone companies I selected STi Mobile and could not be happier. They have the lowest rates; no hidden fees; and their minutes don't expire. Who could ask for more?
STi mobile offers the lowest rates whether I am making local, long distance or international calls and the coverage is awesome because they are using Sprint's network. The other thing that I liked about STi Mobile was their phone selection. A lot of the prepaid companies use old outdated phones. This LG 225 camera phone is amazing. It not only looks hot but it also has a ton of cool features like speaker phone, voice dialing, digital camera, internal antenna, etc. I noticed today while surfing Amazon that STi now has an Unlimited Nights & Weekends plan. They did not have this when I signed up but you can be sure I will be switching my plan today to take advantage of the offer. |
