Awesome HDTV!, February 4, 2008
This review is from: LG 37LC7D 37-Inch 720p LCD HDTV (Electronics)
I don't know what everyone's deal is with busting on LG, but everything my friends have had from LG has stood up to some serious abuse! This TV is great. With the high contrast ratio, and probably the fatest refresh rate I've seen, it's too good to pass up. The price doesn't hurt either. I got lucky and got this as an open box item at Best Buy, for the price of the 32" version.
Image - 10
Sound - 8, not bad at all, but not outrageously good or anything
Fast-moving images - 10! It works great when I play Halo 3
Normal TV isn't too bad, especially with the normal size aspect ratio. I can't wait to have HDTV on this thing. Highly recommended thus far. I will update if anything goes bad.

A Great Buy, March 6, 2008
This review is from: LG 37LC7D 37-Inch 720p LCD HDTV (Electronics)
I purchased this TV at Future Shop (Canada's answer to Best Buy) and have no regrets. It was my first foray into HD TVs and I did quite a bit of research before settling on it. I purchased an open box version and got quite a good deal on it. We use it with a Toshiba HDDVD + upscaling DVD along with a Playstation 2, a Wii and HD Cable. It performs very well in any of these applications. The picture is bright and sharp even though the TV faces a very large window. The blacks are black and the color is brilliant. Immediately after we purchased it we used it to watch the second half of the Planet Earth DVDs (we had watched the first half on our Sony CRT) and the difference was like night and day.
The only downside we've found is with the close captioning using the HD cable. If you Google it you'll find the solution, but it's not too easy getting the captioning working and is a pain to turn on and off. But that's really our only concern with it.
I have no trouble recommending this one. We love it.

TV IS BAD; LG WILL NOT RESPOND TO PROBLEM, July 6, 2009
This review is from: LG 37LC7D 37-Inch 720p LCD HDTV (Electronics)
This TV was a gift for us in May of 2007, purchased from Magnolia Home Theater and the extended warranty was not purchased. The first problem it had required a factory modification 3 months after we received it. It stopped responding to the remote and the menus on the TV were impossible to use via the side buttons. The second problem showed up in early 2009, well beyond the 1-year warranty. It turned itself off unexpectedly. Repeatedly. The repair service was called and we spent almost $500.00 on repairs. The power supply was replaced in April, 2009. In June, 2009, it turned itself off again, unexpectedly. Of course the repair service would not back up their work. And LG refused to do anything. I am very disappointed in a company that will not replace a unit that is clearly defective in some way, warranty or not. That's bad business and bad customer relations. I will not purchase an LG product again. Purchasing an extended warranty on a new product is ludicrous, has always been ludicrous. It only adds to the up-front cost and is merely a way for the seller to add to their profit, betting that MOST of the units they sell will not have problems. I believe it is a deceptive practice. Did I have a choice and could I have purchased an extended warranty? Yes, from the seller, but not from LG. It seems that's the way companies do business these days: "just get it out the door, don't worry about customer satisfaction when something goes wrong, especially if it's only a low percentage of customers; the majority of people will never know that our products are duds and we won't do anything to fix them."
