Thought about an LED LCD? Think again....,
This review is from: LG 47LD650 47-Inch 1080p 240Hz LCD HDTV, Black (Electronics)
Looked at TVs for 3 months before making a decision after my 42" Panasonic Plasma died with a maximum of $1500 to spend. My first idea was to buy a Plasma again but I think it died due to how hot my room would get because of it, then I moved on to the LED TVs and wasnt impressed with the picture quality when I compared it to these 3 TVs.
I dont want to write a few thousand words so I am basically going to put this in a real simple explanation. If your considering buying an LED LCD please go look at this TV or Samsungs LN650 or Sony HX701 I guarantee it will make you think twice about purchasing an LED TV based on the picture quality. So why did I purchase this over Samsungs LN650 and Sony HX701? Well it has a higher contrast ratio (Same as Sony), the response time is 2ms (Samsungs LCD & LEDS are 4ms couldnt find Sonys), it has a 240hz refresh rate (Sony has 240hz, Samsung 120hz) THE MAIN PROBLEM WHICH I READ ABOUT IS THE AUDIO/VISUAL LAG via HDMI connection in both the Sony and Samsung TV. I have had NO PROBLEMS AT ALL and YES I DO RUN THE TV THROUGH A RECEIVER! (ONKYO HTR557) Ive watched HD, SD, DVD, and played Xbox360 with no audio/visual lag! I did notice this problem on the Samsung in 1 store. Also the Sony Model is a Canadian Model which you will only find at Costco in the US. CONCLUSION: One thing that bothered me was that I couldnt find much information about this TV online but usually people will be quick to speak up when something is wrong with a product. The main thing I can say is the picture quality on all 3 TVs are great in this order 1)LG 2)Sony 3) Samsung. I cant comment on the sound because I use a surround sound. I have no had any problems with uneven back lighting, clouding, or audio/ visual lag. The only pain about this TV is mounting it because LG expects you to purchase a VESA wall mount. In other words the screws that usually screwed into the back of a TV to mount it to a wall are not included. I did find out that it is an M6 screw in the manual but it doesnt say the length. I recommend a 1/2inch M6 screw just to be on the safe side. Hope this review helped! 08/16/10 A little update....so far the TV have been worth every penny spent. Been watching a lot of DVD's and HD & SD content, playing Xbox360 and watching netflix. Unfortunately I havent experimented with the netflix on the actual TV because my router has no more ports for the TV :( but I do play netflix through my Xbox and it does look great 98% of the time. Im having a hard time getting a good picture watching sports though but I figure it needs some adjustments to get it just how I want it *might just me being to picky* Everything else looks great. The Picture Wizard adjuster is pretty good and will give you the results you want...its not a professional calibration but it does what its supposed to do. The intelligent sensor option tends to always make the picture very dark so thats a downer but who really cares for something thats going to consistently adjust your picture due to how lit the room is. So other then what I wrote before about the manual not including or mentioning what kind of screws to use to mount this TV to the wall mount...I would say get a full motion wall mount because the viewing angles can be a little tough to get used too coming from watching a plasma TV. 09/28/10 Well nothing new. This TV works like a charm in every aspect. I recently re-modeled my house and had to take everything down except my TV but I did have to take down the surround sound so I had to use the TV's speakers...I gotta say the speakers in this TV can get very loud and stay completely distortion free. I bought the LG Wifi Dongle to access the widgets but it seemed that after the update it wont even load it...im sure its some sure its an easy fix but I havent gotten around to it as its not that big of a deal to me. 10/15/2010 Another little update.....I got the widgets working, all I had to do was unplug the TV and hold the power button for 45seconds. When I turned it on they worked perfectly fine.

LG 47ld650 is one amazing tv,
This review is from: LG 47LD650 47-Inch 1080p 240Hz LCD HDTV, Black (Electronics)
The only 2 tv companies u should consider is Sony OR LG, they put mattie screens on most of there sets.
I have been repairing sets for the last 5yrs and the only sets that r worth the money r Sony or LG ,because of the mattie screens (which r the best out there ) Was considering the Sony 46ex500 and was just about to purchase it, when I seen this LG on sale for 999.00 and this set had 200,000-1 contrast and 240 hz and the sony had 150000-1 and 120 hz. So for the same price and picture looking very sharp, no brainer. Picture- the HD picture is amazing almost like 3d, but in 2d , 3d is over rated just good for certain movies, no need to pay for that extra affect, this set will give u great unbeleiveable picture. Digital Picture - is good plus LG gives u the ability to expand the picture and still stay clear. SD Picture - is fair, but all the flat panel sets R the same. Sound - the sound with clear 2 voice sys is good, not great but for tv sound sys pretty good. Do not waste your time on plasma or LED sets which r over price , this set is just as good. Would buy again, save your moeny and buy this top of the line LG SET.

Cons: Speaker volume doesn't go nearly high enough. Intelligent Sensor and TruMotion are horrible, but they can be turned off. Time display is military style only.
Pros: Everything else! Clear Voice is awesome. Screen is as matte as they get -- minimal reflection compared to ultra-shiny Samsung etc. Vudu movies are easy and cheap -- 1080i works great via my slow-speed cable internet; 1080p 5.1 if you have super-high-speed internet.

I spent entirely too much time researching televisions. Finally settled on this one. At first, I wasn't crazy about it; the picture didn't seem stellar compared to some other people's sets I've seen (Samsung sets). After a little bit of tweaking with the video features, I am very happy. I think a BIG part of my initial dissatisfaction was that I discovered my ATT Uverse HD signal is not the best. Everyone else I know that has satellite or Comcast seems to have better quality. Sucks too, since Uverse user interface and features win hands down. Oh well. BUT, blu rays look spectacular and many HD shows from major high-end networks look fantastic too.
Only thing stopping me from rating this 5 stars is longetivity, as I've only had for about a month. Amazon's service was excellent too; ordered on a Friday afternoon, received the following Thursday.

This was my first LED LCD. I shopped around a lot and found this one to be less expensive than most models, but still has all the great features that the high end models have. I've only had it for a week now and I just ordered the network cable, so I haven't had the full HD effect yet. I am amazed how great all the older shows look on it! It brings new life to old westerns lol. I haven't found anything I don't like about it yet.

My family and I love this Tv. The picture is crystal clear, which is the most important thing to us. The other thing would be reliability and longevity which is yet to be determined.

INTERNET TV DOES NOT WORK,

This TV was purchased for its internet feature. It does not work. The software continually fails. It shows "downloading updates," but eventually stops and you can never access any of the internet apps.
Called LG customer service, they sent out a non-performing electronics service company, who said they had the part to install, provided by LG. When they came out for service they had no part and wanted to take the TV in the reps. tiny beat up pickup, with no way to protect the TV for a 1 hour transport (the TV is afterall 47"). We said no. When we spoke to LG's authorized customer service at Coast To Coast electronics in Fresno, CA the rep was screaming at us. Their service was to say the least VERY unprofessional. Creating drama all over a TV repair! Called LG immediately last week for another authorized service center. They said they would locate one, but we never heard from them. I am on hold again with LG, after burning up another week waiting to hear from them (it's been two weeks since we originally reported the failed TV to LG). Apparently it the main internet part in the TV that is not working. We will be sending this back to Amazon? Stay tuned. After being on hold for 10 minutes today the LG rep said they did call us with a new authorized service company, but we never received that call. LG didn't immediately have the info of WHO the new authorized service center would be, so the rep said she would have to check and call back, again. I have two more weeks before I have to send the TV back to amazon for a refund. I wonder how this will turn out? Internet TV or not? Your guess is as good as mine. In talking to amazon on the return, because of the holiday, they gave us until January 31 to return it. This is why I aways purchase goods through amazon, great customer service if you have a problem. ***Another week has gone by and I didn't hear from LG. Called them today, again, and they did indicate they were snowed out of their building. I told the supervisor that they either have to repair the TV or I have to send it back to Amazon. I would like to get it fixed, but I am under a return deadline. This is so frustrating!

This is my second LG LCD TV purchase with in a year. This 240Hz model really stands out, I have TW cable HD with HBO package hooked up, and this thing make a total difference on picture quality, in some channels it is truly amazing, the sound quality is again superb as recognized by many LG users. Remote control has a major improvement, I just cannot get enuff off the "Q.MENU" button. Picture Wizard feature allows user more freedom to custom setting, plenty of HDMI ports, A/V ports, USB ports, everyone in the family enjoys it. Considering the current LED-backlight, 3D LED-backlight higher-cost models from LG, this one is a steal. My next 55" will be another LG, yeah, S-IPS panel, 178 degree viewing angle, loving it!

Our first HD TV - I spent tooooo much time looking at all the features and models out there. This had all the features we were looking for - 240 Hz, 1080p, and Internet ready. It was delivered to our door and the delivery guy was very nice and helpful. Picture is awesome - best with the few HD channels we can get but still good with our digitial cable. No complaints!!! FANTASTIC picture with HD movies from VUDU!!! The neighbors across the street have called to compliment us on the picture too:)
