The LG Blu-ray Disc/ DVD model BP125 is a plain and simple Blu-ray player. No gadgets no wifi just Blu-ray which is exactly what I wanted with this device. It is easy to setup and use but it does not come with an HDMI cord so keep that in mind. But overall this player is as simple and reliable as it'll get. Batman Dark Night Rises looks amazing on this by the way. Perfect simplicity.

This entry level Blu-Ray player from LG is a no frills player without network or Internet access.

I own this unit and it works great for DVDs, Blu-Ray disc and CDs. The SimpLink function of the player and this included remote control will allow you to operate some functions of your LG TV (look for the Simplink logo on your TV's remote control.) This is handy for controlling playback, pause, fast forward, etc.

The front USB input is great for playing files of music, audio (MP3, WAV worked great!), and looking at pictures or video files. As long as your drive is formatted as FAT32 you are good to go.

If your TV is already "smart" and has Internet connection with apps like Netflix, Pandora, etc., then this is a unit you won't regret because you saved some bucks by not having, or needing, it networked.

I too like many others bought this at Walmart Grey Thursday for #38.00. I have been using it just about every day since & am very pleased with it's performance. I have made a few discoveries that my be of some help to others deciding whether or not to buy this machine. I have found that it will play most video formats including MKV, XVID, MP4, FLV, MPEG2, but it will not play DIVX. Even the manual (not included...you have to download it from LG website) does NOT list DIVX. The first thing I did was download the update from the website and installed it with a thumbdrive in the USB port. It will play videos from an external hard drive. I have a 500GB drive that is connected to it and it plays without any problems, it will play either FAT32 or NTFS. Someone stated that it had to be FAT32 but mine is NTFS and it plays without a hitch. I do not know if it will play from a larger external hard drive. As far as not playing some BluRays I have not had that experience. I only have a few that I've gotten since I got this machine, but it has played all of them. Maybe the update helped. As stated by others the only outputs are HDMI and digital audio. No composit outputs at all so it will have to be connected to TV with HDMI inputs, but incase you don't know, HDMI passes both video & audio to the TV in HiDef. BluRay picture and audio quality has been outstanding.
But... I would question the price as stated here. I don't think $80.00 is a good price for this bare bones machine. LG has a Model LG BD325 that has all the same features, plus WiFi & composite outputs that you can find for just about the same price & I've seen the 125 at lower prices elseware, so shop around. If you can get it for less than 50 bucks it may very well be worth it.

My wife and I bought this for our bedroom tv and we couldnt be happier. Some things to mention are 1)There is no AV cable input, only HDMI. 2) No wifi. 3)No ethernet input, so no apps or automatic updates.

But if you can overlook all that, and just want something to play blu-rays, your in luck cause this is inexpensive and does a great job. Id buy this again in an instant. Just make sure you dont overpay. This is a budget model and you shouldnt pay more then $50.

I liked this at first. I played three Blu Ray DVD’s, and it was wonderful! Then 1 regular DVD ( it is supposed to play BR DVD’s, reg DVD’s , CD’s etc.) Which was also great. Then, the next day, I tried 8 regular DVD’s, and it ejected them all with the error : "CHECK REGIONAL CODE” ????!!!!????
What? I have always played these just fine on ALL my other DVD players.
I am FURIOUS!!!
This is NOT hooked up to my computer. I don’t trust hookups like that, I believe they track you ( recent online article said as much with LG TVs, even when that setting was ‘disabled’... NOT that I do anything illegal, I just don’t want anyone ‘checking up on me’
I read some older posts about this problem, which evidently has been around since at least 2008, and they said it is a hardware error and fixes can be made getting updates, but I have no idea how to do this. I am seriously thinking about returning this.
IT SHOULD WORK AS DESCRIBED WITHOUT ME HAVING TO DO ANYTHING!!!!!

DO NOT BUY THIS. I just got mine yesterday, hooked it up and tried to play DVDs. Each time I tried I got the error message "Error Check Region Code." There is no info as far as an owners manual or anything with this, just a start up guide. So I did searches on line & tried several fixes, but nothing worked. I finally called LG Tech support and after "troubleshooting" I was told, the unit must be defective. I'm returning it and buying a different brand.

As others have said,a no frills blue ray player. Just what I wanted. Very compact unit, plays well. easy to set up and use. Great value if all you need is a player.

I recently bought one of these through Wal-Mart during their Black Friday $38 special, which I suspected then and continue to suspect was an attempt to offload a soon-to-be or already out of production model. The unit is, as stated above, bare-bones, but that was exactly what I was looking for. The one downside may have been that firmware updates couldn't be handled directly through the internet but instead require you to download it onto a separate computer and move the files onto a DVD/CD/USB. I opted for the USB route, but when installing, the system shut down and never turned back on until manually prompted; now the system is locked and won't go to the main menu past the LG loading screen, nor will it play anything. After consulting with LG via email, they recommended I send it in for service. I will be returning it instead since I bought this in the last few weeks and don't want to deal with them further.

Furthermore, the reason for needing the firmware update may mean that the player, if not updated, could be useful to most people. However, the blu-ray copies of Brave and (as I read on their site) Total Recall do not play normally because of an exit-program glitch that could only be fixed with the firmware installation. I being one of the people who recently bought Brave on blu-ray, specifically wanting to watch it on this player, am incredibly disappointed by this ridiculous flaw that, in attempting to fix, seems to have permanently locked down my system.
