My only complaint is that the GH22NP20 did not come with installation instructions. My computer has two optical drives and when I first installed the LG, neither of the new pair of drives worked. I called LG customer support at 1-800-243-0000 and a customer service rep told me that one of the two drives needed to be the slave. This was done by moving a jumper on the back of one drive to the terminals marked "slave." That fixed the problem. There was no software installation needed. As "Stilettos" wrote, the drive is quiet.

Esaitech Inc. shipped the drive promptly and it came to my front door exactly on the expected arrival date. It was double-boxed, both boxes were stuffed with bubble wrap, and the drive was sealed in its plastic bag.

I was kinda hesitant when purchasing the product, but so happy that I did. It is super fast when burning and very quiet at the same time. I recommend buying this product. Easy installation and everything, and it was my first time installing anything physical into my computer...

Got this to replace the old burner on my 10 year old system

LG 22x burner was used to replace a worn out Sony 16x burner, but the LG proved extremely slow ... more than twice the burning time as the Sony. Tracked down and called LG phone support (800 # not provided), but the tech wasn't able to resolve. My assumption is I got a clunker since other reviews have been very positive. Recommendation: beware of LG quality control, which certainly wasn't up to specs in my case.

The price was great. I needed the device for an older computer.
It fit the bill perfectly. Processing and shipping was flawless.

This is a very nice burner for the money.Installation was pretty easy. the only problem I ran into was that I had to install this burner as my master drive and reinstall my factory dvd drive as the slave drive.Which was really no big deal!! All the software loaded right up!!! this is a very good preformer. I've had this for over a month and no problems what so ever!!

I am absolutely satisfied with this product. It arrived before scheduled, in new condition, easily installed, worked the first time and every time since. I highly recommend this product to anyone wishing to purchase a DVD/CD-RW drive with little cost. I am astonished at the quality and price. You cannot go wrong with this product.

My CD drive in my Dell 3100 XP died. I just wanted something cheap and easy. Ordered the LG drive - it was cheap, quick free shipping. Came in a box with bubble wrap and nothing else! But I plugged it in, fired it up, and it worked perfectly. Couldn't be easier!

Dec/30/2009 was the date when I bought my DVD RW drive and today I am writing my review about this product, todays date is May/07/2011, the thing still works like new (I use it mostly for burning movies, backing up my stuff, barely for playing music or watching my DVDs, so the use is moderate) I can not tell how it would perform on a heavy duty daily basis, but until now I never got a problem with this item, so you said you want it? well I say GET IT!!!!.

Very sturdy, the chipset are Japanese-Chinese, reads and writes very efficiently!!!, not much to say but I would get it again, I assembled my own PC, every part meticulously chosen, and this is a good alternative plus it is not expensive!!.

Piece of cake (if you know about this kind of stuff(I love it)) if not I will try to get help for free with a friend. no drivers needed (WinXP PRO SP3 Ver. 2002).

For burning its a fast alternative but, now days Having this is for cave men!! get a Blu-Ray Drive instead!!

Well I never got problems with it, so it is a good choice, I bought it on 12/30/2009 and today is 05/07/2011 so you decide.

You got money my friend get a blu-ray writer!! you want to save get this!! PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!

I purchased this drive from this company. It arrived without box, manual, cables, warranty and it had a manufacture date of 18 months ago. So, I assume it was used or scrap or something. This is very misleading. I purchased this two months ago, and this "company" is still advertising its wares. Deceiving.
