LG E50 Series monitors are backlit by LED lights. This gives colors a greater contrast and more vibrancy, and creates deeper blacks. It also allows the monitor to be slimmer and more energy efficient.
By supporting Full HD resolution and 1920 x 1080 pixels, the ideal conditions for media produced in a 16:9 format, monitors in the E50 Series can reproduce myriads of images—from the minute movements of insects to thrilling videos games—in rich colors and elaborate details.

The E50 Series features a slim design, takes up less space on your desk, and can even be mounted on a wall. It’s so sleek it will quickly become part of your décor.
The E50 Series has a 5,000,000,000 to 1 contrast ratio, allowing the monitors to recognize subtle color differences, as well as pitch blacks. You’ll experience more accurate colors, especially when you’re viewing videos or graphic-intensive applications with a dramatic contrast between light and dark.
The Auto Bright function on the E50 Series has a Bright Sensor that measures the amount of light in the area surrounding the monitor. After analyzing the brightness of ambient light and the data source, the monitor signals the backlight to create an optimized brightness that reproduces a clear image while reducing eyestrain.

When you find yourself using more than one window at a time, the Dual Web feature can help. It optimizes your screen size and automatically divides the space to accommodate multiple windows at once. You could surf the web while you work, watch a live game while you read the news or more.

Video clips uploaded on web pages are in low resolution, causing the pixels to be distorted when the clips are viewed at full screen. On the other hand, watching the clips in their original size would expose you to various distractions, such as banners and text. Just like a movie theatre, Cinema Mode creates an ideal environment for viewing online video clips by dimming the areas excluded in your mouse drag and helping you focus on what you’re watching.
Energy Star is the U.S. government's international program that encourages the use of energy-saving consumer products. The LG E50 Series reduces energy consumption by approximately 36%. It also doesn’t use any hazardous materials such as mercury or halogen.
LG E50 Series monitors come with a two-way, convertible, detachable, ergonomic stand. You’ll have multiple viewing options and be able to angle your monitor for your optimal experience. It also makes the monitor easier to connect to a laptop.

I armed myself with the top rated models from various sites, including Amazon, before heading out to buy one. This LG model didn't show up in the top search, but I wanted to check it out as it was highly recommended by a family member. In the store, this one beat out all others in terms of the crispness of the display. I came home, set it up, and it worked beautifully except for two things. One, the recommended resolution is 1600x900 but I couldn't find how to change the maximum in Windows 7 (64-bit). Finally figured out that if you right click and go to 'Graphics Options', select 'Output To' then 'Extended Desktop' and 'Monitor + Notebook,' voilà problem solved. Just fyi in case others encounter similar challenges. The other is the 'Easy Set Package', which allows you to get dual web and cinema mode, but no matter how many times I tried to install it, it just doesn't seem to work. They seem like cool extra features, so I'll try again later, but the lack doesn't detract from the main function, which is crystal-clear display. Highly recommend LED vs. LCD, and this LG model does the job for me.

I purchased this monitor in October 2010. So far it works good except for the fact that the blue power light quit working around December 2010. Also, the 4 little blue menu lights quit working at the same time. If I press on the plastic at the bottom of the screen the lights come on but go off again as soon as I take my finger away. It must be some kind of short or something.I just wonder what will quit working next. I just may buy another monitor eventualy. Probably a different brand.
