I will start by saying that this monitor is quite an upgrade from what I had been using. Despite being 21.5", it is almost too big for where I need it. I will have no problem at all getting used to this.

The only issue I have is this. The package comes with two monitor cables, the VGA cable and a DVI-D Single Link cable.

My current video card is an NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT, which has two DVI-I Dual Link ports.

This monitor has both a VGA port and a DVI-D Dual Link port.

So, when I first tried connecting this monitor to my system, I used the digital DVI-D Single Link cable. This did not work. All I got while booting up was a small window on the screen momentarily containing the words "DVI-D POWER SAVING MODE".

I just happened to have a VGA to DVI-A adaptor lying around, and therefore I am up and running with the supplied VGA cable.

Does anybody have any suggestions on why I cannot go digital with this setup?

I will refrain from describing my experience with LG customer assistance "CONSUMER UNIT".

If you're the kind of person who doesn't want to pay a premium for style, then you might find this monitor a tad expensive. There are many others with the same features, resolution, and image quality for $100 less than what I paid ($269.99). That said, it truly is beautiful, powered on or off. Personally, I like style a lot, but even so, I find it a little expensive. But I got it and don't regret it. This thing is right out of a design school (and in fact it probably is).

I would like one feature that it doesn't have: the ability to raise/lower the screen in addition to tilt forward/back. But as it's at a fairly comfortable height on my desk, this fortunately isn't a problem.

One other very minor nit: the touch-sensitive on/off switch, located on the top right corner of the base, is a bit too easy to touch accidentally. I'll have to get in the habit of keeping my paws (and those of my cats - no kidding!) away from that spot.

Otherwise, this is a very nice monitor and a thing of beauty. It would be right at home in the most luxurious office.

Nice job, LG.

I would ordinarily take away a star for the high price and the minor complaints. But the price could change for another buyer, so I figure my review will just cover the product without regard to the price. If I run into any technical problems, I might come back and lower my rating. I do plan to calibrate it with a colorimeter for graphics work, and if that presents any problems, I'll come back and report on that.
-------------
Update:

I calibrated the display with a Spyder 3 Pro colorimeter, and it calibrated perfectly and really looks great.

I needed to replace an older 22" monitor that was getting old and dimming. Did some research and came across this on a Gold Box deal. I know LG makes great stuff, so I thought I would give it a try. It is very lightweight and thin and has a great picture. The only issue I have is that this 22" monitor, since it is a wider screen than my other, was actually smaller in size. The text is a little smaller using the same font sizes, but the clarity of the picture more than makes up for this. The picture was so much better on this monitor, that it really put my remaining, second monitor to same, so I bought another one. Now I have two and enjoy them every day. LG says it is an "outgoing" monitor, meaing it was last year's model, but also says that it is the best, most feature filled monitor that LG makes. The new price of $200, is almost half of what it was originally.
Well worth a look!!!

Sleek and clean beautiful styling. Bought to use as a TV in a small sitting area, perfect for this application. Connected to a receiver (monitor does not have internal speakers) and to cable for TV, it was just the solution needed. Excellent value too.

Yes, this monitor is VERY thin. Yes, it looks very cool on your desktop.

How is the picture? Excellent. How does it compare to the Apple Cinema display or a high end IPS monitor? Well, if those displays are a 10, this one is about an 8.

I'd say that's pretty good - considering this beauty of a monitor costs a third or even a fifth of the price of those high-end units.

I'm using it with a late-2011 Macbook Air 11" and it looks and works perfectly. I also tried it out with my Toshiba Portege work laptop and it looks great with that one too.

Overall, you get a lot of awesomeness for your $200.00.

Note: After fumbling around with the overpriced Apple cables, I settled on this cheap cable here (which gives a great picture):

I needed to replace a monitor which was owned by my employer and while my first choice would have been the LG E2770 they do not seem to exist for purchase. Everyone advertises them but no one had one for sale. I had been using a 40" LED Sharp TV for a few months but my wife wanted her TV installed so that left too. I had only seen pictures of the LG E2290 and liked what I saw. While it looks a little small on my desk (remember it replaced a 40" screen) it makes things look much more professional and very finished. Everyone mentions the thin screen right off the bat. The lack of wires going to the screen makes for a cleaner look. Even the base is beautiful and minimalist in design. The menu works very intuitively off four, lighted "dots" on the base and the power/standby switch integration is very clever.

The display is beautiful, clear and seems accurate for my purposes. My wife thinks the picture is (too) "soft" for her liking, but I like what I see. I love just using the HDMI hookup for no-fuss no-muss connections.

The only thing which would have made me happier would be if it had been a LG E2990, meaning a larger screen, but for a couple of hundred bucks I got a very high quality, very attractive looking reasonable size of computer monitor.
