4.0 out of 5 stars I'm happy with it
I've had this product for two years. It cleans my dishes great and I've had no problems with it like the other people.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money.
It has some great ideas - large tub, upper rack that moves, steam is recycled and not blown into kitchen, energy saving upper / lower rack washes - but does not do the job. It does not wash my dishes well even if rinced, even on the strongest setting. Disappointing. Also, the main board and the display board had to be replaced within the first four months. Not worth...

1.0 out of 5 stars Breaks better than it cleans, January 8, 2007

I've had this dishwasher for a little over a year. I've had to call the company twice to send me replacement rollers for the racks, and one of the plastic holders for the movable racks broke. It's very frustrating to not be able to use the functionality of changing rack position or pulling out the racks to unload. I get better results for cleaning difficult food when using the powerscrub and strong spray settings (with Electrosol tabs). However, I still need to take some dishes out and wash them by hand.

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't Buy This Dishwasher, March 2, 2007

I've had this dishwasher for 2 months now.
* It does not clean dishes very well, even on strong spray setting. I have to rewash many from each cycle. Nothing ever comes out feeling very clean, even with a rinse agent added.
* The rinse/dry cycle consistently emits a smell of scorching plastic. I placed a service call and am having to wait THREE WEEKS for service.
* The placement of the tines in both upper and lower racks makes it very difficult to load anything except cups and plates. When you push the upper rack in without a full load, the glasses tip over and break.
* The lower rack jams when I push it in, so I have to physicallhy lift it up and jiggle it back and forth before pushing it in.
* The machine has a loud chime when the load is finished washing that you cannot turn off. Because we can hear the chime from our bedroom, we can't wash a load of dishes at night without the ending chime waking us up.
* Calls to LG for help result in long, long wait times with obnoxious musak.

We hate this dishwasher and I am in the process of trying to get Home Depot to take it back. Our old Maytag did a far better job for half the price.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected, February 27, 2007

I have had this dishwasher for about a month, and it does not clean as well as I had expected. I had better results with my apartment Hotpoint than I do with this $700 one. I do like the features (moveable rack for large plates on top, adjustable tines),it looks pretty, and it is quiet, however, I have to rewash at least two items with every load. My flatware is also getting nicked up pretty badly. I plan to excahnge it for another brand, although I hate to since it took 4 delivery attempts to actuallly get this one in my house!

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor quality item, poor customer service. I think poorly of LG now., February 14, 2008
This review is from: LG Electronics LDS5811ST 24-in. Under Counter Dishwasher, Stainless Steel Finish
I wish I had done my homework better on this. If I had, I would have known before I bought it that:

- LG just means "Looks Good". The $500 dollar GE unit it replaced lasted 5 years before it broke. This $800 LG LDS5811ST lasted 13 months. Yes, that's right... one month after the full manufacturer's warranty expired.

- This unit does not clean well on noraml settings for regular dish loads. Food residue was left on everything, glasses and plates mostly. You have to set it to Power Scrub to get just normally soiled items clean. The good news is that Power Scrub did clean as well as the normal cycle on the old dishwasher did.

- It does have a food disposal feature in the bottom of the unit. Apparently for the food that didn't wind up re-deposited on the dishes.

- The cutlery basket has a grid cover. The intention is that you insert the handles into the grid, separating the flatware for better cleaning. If you have thicker than normal handles, this may be a useless feature to you, and you'll have to remove the cover.

- Some of the tines are adjustable, but too close together to be truly useful for bowls. If you adjust them for bowls, it's difficult to use the adjacent fixed tines for regular plates, effectively rendering the adjustable feature as useless.

- When it fails, it fails with error codes not listed in the owner's manual. For the record folks, "LE" means communication between the motor and ESB is lost. The motor, ESB circuit board or some connecting cable in between is fried or loose.

- Customer support was shoddy. The first person I spoke to kindly extended the full warranty to cover this repair, however the service technician never turned up. Called the maintenance company and they said they had no record of this service ticket. Called LG back and the next representative attempted to deny that the warranty had been extended. When called on it, he put me on hold for several minutes and conceded that the prior rep had extended the warranty, but then added a demand to fax the original receipt to LG before any service would be given at all.

I don't really appreciate being made to jump through hoops for LG to fix a poorly made $800 dishwasher.

This experience has had a negative effect on my view of LG products in general and the company itself. I will not be buying another LG appliance.

EDIT: After TWO MONTHS of this appliance being broken, and four service calls (for which I had to take time off work) this dishwasher was fixed. It is now back to not cleaning well on the Normal setting. I still have to set it to the scrub mode to get normal loads clean.

1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY LG, September 4, 2008
By

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! It is the worst dishwasher made by the worst company. Not only does it not wash the dishes well, the top rack breaks your glasses and the dishwasher has a known defect that the salesperson usually forgets to let you know. The material used in the door to isolate the noise actually glues with the cords inside the door and breaks them. The dishwasher has a LE error code that means your motor is broken. Mine happened only 5 months after buying it. I have read about people who even had it happened several times. I don't know how long it will take to get it fixed as many people had to wait weeks, if not months to get the parts to fix it (usually temporarily before it breaks again, once your warranty has expired and the cost is at your charge). LG has the worst customer service. The company knows about the problem when they have to tell the repair man what to do to fix it, but they won't admit to it to the consumer. They will let you know that it is an old model and the store where you bought it kept it in their storage room. They will agree to fix it, even though it is going to break again, but won't replace it.
The product is now discontinued, but some stores still sell it. SHAME ON THEM TOO!!!
