All of the sudden one day I had no water pressure to my ice maker or water dispenser.

Slight different build to it but since the old one leaked that might be a good thing.

Our 4 year old LG french door refrigerator (2009) had a leak, water pooling in the front. Good - caught the leak, bad - some water damage to wood. Pulled the refrigerator out from the wall, cleaned all the dust to accurately track the leak which was the valve (part number was on the valve). Not able to purchase a new valve in our area (found out they wanted $80 for one) so shut off water and ordered part. Very easy to install (see youtube video) - unplug appliance, secure water, clean area/vacuum coils, unscrew old valve, remove wire lead, remove water inlet tube, remove water outlet tube (by first removing retaining clip); reverse order installation. Run about 2 gallons of water through system to check workings and check for any leaks. Perfect part and fit! Saved $40 on the part and about $200 on a repairman service call. Dissatisfied that a $2000 LG refrigerator would use a critical water valve that broke and leaked in 4 years. Water damage could have been serious if gone unnoticed.

I haven't received the part yet, but I am giving this 5 stars because of the fact that I can actually order this part. In Canada, LG forces you to go through one of their "Authorized Technicians" who will not order the part unless you use them to do the repair work.
How crazy is that?
Oh, and what's even crazier - it's out of warranty and LG Canada will still not allow users to order the part without using their Authorized Technicians.

This unit made my fridge water dispense like never before! Full force, great tasting AND my husband replaced the old one, which the applicance tech wanted 180$ plus 70$ for the part! Can you believe that one? Will be back and will always refer to Amazon for appliance parts! Thank you so much.

The water dispenser and ice maker had very little pressure and didn't know what went wrong. Called couple of repairmen and they really didn't know what was wrong. Told me it could cost around 300.00 to fix. I wasn't going to pay that much especially when didn't know what was wrong. It was going on 2 years and one day there was water leaking all over the floor and coming from under frig. Took back apart and found that this part was leaking into drip pan and it got full so started leaking on floor. Once replaced this piece, the water pressure was back to normal. I was sooo excited!!

I HAVE NOT purchased this vale. It is the valve on my 09 LG refrigerator. I assume I will be ordering it. When I try to fill a cup with water, I hear the buzz of the two solenoids (the inlet at the rear and the one in the fridge door). The ice bin is also not refilling. I narrowed it down to this inlet valve. I disassembled it and found that the rubber stopper on the end of the metal actuator tube was disintegrating. It would be neat if I could buy just that little rubber tip/stopper - and maybe have it made of something that doesn't deteriorate in city water. Oh well.

Really just wanted to vent some steam on this LG fridge. I've never had more buyer's remorse than with this. It hasn't required a single service call, but, there is nothing that works like you'd expect it to. Water/ice dispensing stops if you open ANY door. Ice cubes don't break apart (when they fall the 2" from the tray to the bin) and therefor get stuck in the shoot - I have to punch the bin hard to get them to break apart. Ice cubes come out so slow you may as well pull up a chair - and anyone who needs something from the fridge needs to wait in line as opening the door will stop the dispenser (and result in fridge-rage). The double freezer doors are a mistake - the hardware needed for two doors takes up about half of the usable space of a single door. There is no practical way to arrange the shelving to allow for taller items (i.e. 2-liter bottles, or gallon milk jugs, etc). The doors don't close on their own - you have to forcefully swing them shut, slamming them, or they stay 1/2 open.

Ok, I know that had nothing to do with the this valve. So I'm not dinging this listing. But anyone considering LG, test drive it thoroughly and get lots of reviews. Wish I had. It was pretty, but I regret the purchase every time I see the thing (even in my peripheral view).

I have found all experiences posted here the same as mine - Ruined hardwood, cracked tile all because just after 4 years, LG's plastic valve was cracked and leaking with no water sensor. To top it off, LG would not sell me this part (even though it is off warranty) and only offered through their service tech companies at a large charge -- thankfully found it here. Shame on you LG!

The fact it is available to bypass the "it is our policy sir" approach is fantastic.

Obviously this has been my saviour -- (I think this is the best positive yet negative posting I have ever made!)

Our LG Refrigerator water dispenser had very little water pressure and we thought the line was possibly clogged. I found a pin hole in the water line so I proceeded to replace the water line for $1.19. The line had previous been replaced under warranty and I found the technician had jerry rigged the line going into the water valve. I decided to replace the water valve through Amazon for a total cost of $40.00 (included shipping). The water valve arrived in a timely manner and within minutes I had full water pressure and it is working great.
