Had to send it back.
Overall, I'm very pleased with the quality of the image and this product.
Be a long time before I can trust an Epson product again.

I have been using projectors for several years now. Picture Quality has come a long way. My use is a little different then most buying this projector. I use mainly for home theater and little use on computer. I have a light controlled dedicated theater room so this review is biased toward home theater use. Recently purchased this unit from Fry's for $499. I have been waiting for a LED based projector with enough lums for 110 inch screen, my price point and this one did a very nice job. Being it mainly built for business use inputs are few and far between but with a HDMI switcher you can get by. Never having to replace the lamp huge bonus!

I had an Epson 6500UB which is one of the best home theater projectors available. I have no complaints on picture quality of this unit only reliability and Epson. Knowing they had an issue only fixing it enough to get through warranty period. Cost new $2500 warranty 2 years after that you might as well throw it out for it will cost you more to keep it then buy a new one. The new Epson's have been redesigned and hopefully more reliable but I just can't take another $2500 chance with bulbs running $200 plus and lucky to get over 1000 hours. Be a long time before I can trust an Epson product again. Love the picture just can't afford the consequences.

Back to this unit. Colors are fantastic. This is basically a 720P instead of 1080P so detail not as good as the Epson but very very good. Instant on and off no warm up or cool down needed. Much quieter then the Epson. I was worried about the 720P being able to see pixels or (Screen Door Effect)not an issue on a 110 inch picture seating about 11 feet from screen. I was also very worried about RBE rainbow effect that all single chip DLP's suffer from and I am extremely sensitive to them.

1. Very light weight, but that doesn't matter if it will be stationery from the ceiling.
2. Very quiet; even in when set to the high image quality setting. It is actually quieter than my current projector that is always on low.
3. Instantly turns off and turns back on within about 3 seconds.
4. Gets warm but not hot.
5. Image quality is very good once you have made the proper adjustments and found the sweet spot with the manual focus dial on the side.
6. Speaker sounds great.

1. No ZOOM, so you have to pick your mounting spot and place it there. That is a major design flaw.
2. No auto focus or auto zoom.
3. Configuring this projector took some time due to the odd settings design screens.
4. Most of all, the manual focus did not work correctly. I had to set this over and over again until I finally got it right. Once you start adjusting the dial, the middle of the screen becomes blurry. If you go back the other way, the corners become blurry. So, there is one spot to shoot for. If you miss that, have fun adjusting it all over again.

I am a professional home theater install as well as an Information Technology Consultant. I have enjoyed more than 25 years within the technology world. It doesn't take much to impress me, but I am all for quality, especially when I pay $650 for a projector. My last projector was $500. I have since gone back to it. It is an Epson EX51 for home theater and use my LG as a computer monitor.

The LG PA70G a big step up in picture quality comparing it to the old sharp xr-10x projector that we had for watching movies. We decided to renovate our home theater setup. Every piece of equipment was outdated, and the worst part, no HDMI on our AVR or projector.

After spending countless hours reading various forums and reviews we decided on the Optoma ML500. Ordered it direct from Amazon and received it a few days later. What a disappointment. The picture focus was uneven, and the RBG colors seemed to pop out more than what they should. I read several comments that the picture quality would improve. Well after a week we didn't notice any improvement and decided to return it.

After doing some more research I was torn between the Epson 3010 and the LG PA70G. Please keep in mind that the Epson will be far superior in picture quality than the LG, but I wanted to take the plunge into the LED projector scene since the idea of not having to worry about the bulbs burning out is a big plus. So I went ahead and ordered the PA70G, and wow what a sweet surprise. We have this paired with a Elite Screens 125" screen, and the picture quality is awesome. The color balance looks so much more natural than on the Optoma. Image brightness is excellent, we are using it on the medium energy saving mode with low ambient light in the room and the picture is not washed out or faded. Just as a reference, this LG projector seems just as bright as our old sharp projector rated at 2000 lumens with a newish lamp.

I have also used this projector for playing games with a PS3, there is no lag at all, and the image is also excellent. The setup that we have is a Denon 1913 AVR & Definitive Technology speakers. This setup didn't break the bank and was worth every penny.

This projector is just what I wanted. Light, portable, and should last a long time. Setup is easy, easier than I thought; auto keystone correction works pretty good. Some people have complained about the quality of the text. As long as the output resolution is set to the native projector resolution it looks pretty decent. It's not the best, but I feel that it's still good for a projector quality image. It's easy to have part of the text slightly out of focus, but if you make sure that the projector is projecting squarely on the wall that seemed to fix it. Don't buy for the 3D compatability. It's a pain to get it to work and the quality isn't that good (FYI, Not compatible with NVIDIA 3D vision, only with DLP-Link), but for a 2D 720P projector it works great. Oh, the picture quality from the RCA inputs is MUCH better than I was expecting. I don't know if it upconverts or not, but I used it in a hotel room to show my kids a movie b/c the TV in the room was dead and it looked good. It has exceeded my expectations.
