This washer/dryed worked perfect for the first two years but from then on it seems to break down every couple of months. First the drain hose ($40 for a hose) started leaking due to the poor restraint design. Then the drain pump stopped working as well as few months later (~$50). Now not barely a month after that the washer wont turn on so it is likely either the display board (~$80) or the main control board ($150)...I am a Mechanical Engineer so I can make the repairs myself, but if I wasnt able to then I would have had to shell more than the washer is worth on repairs already. Do yourself a favor and do not buy this!

Very quiet. We run it at night, and all we can hear is the chimes as it cycles. I do recommend buying the pedestal. It not only raises the washer to a comfortable level, but also makes draining the filter a no-chore operation. And you can never have too much storage.

I feel like all these people complaining have purchased this machine without understanding the trade-offs of a single washer-dryer machine, so to set the record straight:

1. re: mold; I have owned this machine for 3 years now and I have never had a problem. The trick is to keep the washing machine door and drawer OPEN when the machine is not in use. This way the inside of the machine dries completely. You also need to run the tub-clean feature once a month with a washing machine cleaner or just plain water/bleach. All of these are described in the user manual and if people just took time to read it then they wouldn't have a problem.

2. re: wrinkles and drying. This is simple, DO NOT OVERLOAD THE MACHINE. Again, this is stated in the manual. If your clothes are coming out damp, wrinkled, and taking too long to dry then you are overloading, plain and simple. If I am washing dress shirts and pants, I set the machine to perm-press and only load half of the capacity of the machine; for normal clothes I will put two-thirds full but that's it. I don't think this is a big deal; I don't wait for the weekend to do a big pile of laundry, I just do several small batches throughout the week. For bulky items like comforters, you may need to pause the machine mid-drying cycle and rearrange so that your comforter will dry evenly.

3. re: lint. The machine does not have a lint trap, so after each wash-dry cycle you need to take a damp paper towel and wipe the inside of the machine, particularly the rubber seal on the door. This is also why it is important to run the tub-clean cycle regularly. I have also needed to take a pair of tweezers and pull out lint from the soap dispenser (the orange thing where the soap comes out). I only needed to do this twice in the 3-year period that I have owned the machine, so again no big deal, you just need to observe your wash cycle if it looks like soap isn't coming out.

This machine has served me well and if I ever need to, I will happily buy another LG washer-dryer combo.

I wish I could not rate this product 1 star. I was hesitant to purchase a front loader washer, as I had heard multiple complaints about the issue with mold growth. Despite my better judgement and the persuasion of the salesman, we purchased these units in 2010 hoping the upgrades had resolved the problem. NO! Do not invest in this product or this company! I called customer support, as the units were only 4 years old and despite all my efforts and following their suggestions, mold still grew. The company did not want to help the consumer, simply offering a band-aid solution of sending a repairman to replace the part. It is inherent to the design that this machine, despite any repairs will grow mold. Their customer services is very poor. They manager simply responded she "understood, but she had to follow policies." I hope that she is not clothing her children in mildewed/bacteria infested laundry.

We are currently renting a house while trying to sell our other one and the house we are renting was built to be very efficient and had one of these LG washer/dryer combos in it to save space. It is literally the worst product I have ever come across and cannot wait to be in another house where I have my regular washer and dryer again.

As mentioned in several other reviews, the washing part is fine, it's the drying part that is a nightmare. We have a family of 4, 2 adults, an older child and a baby. I can never catch up on laundry because it takes ALL DAY to dry anything. Everything comes out damp, even if I dry it for 6-8 hours. I can only wash 4, maybe 5, towels and super small loads of laundry at a time because this thing refuses to dry. I take bedding and large items back to our old house to wash and dry because this thing just can't handle it. I will also take loads of laundry to our old house if I get too far behind because I can do 4 loads with our old washer in the same amount of time it takes to do 1 load with this thing, plus, they came out dry when I use our old washer and dryer.

Also, our clothes come out beyond wrinkled and stiff (after air drying because they never dry in there), jeans are a pain in the butt and look awful after coming out of the combo. Cleaning it is a tedious chore as well; I have to clean out the rim and door after every use and my husband has to clean out the house thing every 2-3 weeks because there is nothing to catch the lint and if you don't clean it out, everything gets clogged.

This combo may work alright if it's just one person, but it is totally not compatible for a family. I dreaded laundry before but now, I absolutely hate it. Cannot wait to get away from this awful piece of technology.

This machine sucks! We moved into a new apartment equipped with this combo machine nightmare and had we known it would take up to 6 hours to wash and dry 1 load of laundry, we never would have moved in. It takes hours and hours and hours to dry clothes. This means if you have a second load to wash, you'd have to wait until the first load is completely dried and removed. Also, say you have one damp item and you want to throw it the dryer for 15 minutes before running out to work, you'll be out of luck because this machine just doesn't have the ability to do that. Also, pants and jeans come out completely wrinkled unlike anything i've ever seen. The wrinkles are so heavy that it actually sucks the dye right out of your jeans leaving them creased and with white lines. This machine sucks. Not sure how other people are loving it??? HATE IT!

Do not buy this machine. We purchased it because we have 3 other LG products and they work great. LG has not worked out the kink's in this machine. The water pump continues to break. They have fixed it 5 times and it continues to break. Now they want us to start paying for it after only owning it two years. That's $350 every time it breaks. I don't find this acceptable now would I recommend anyone buy this machine. It is faulty, poor design and LG won't admit to it.

Have this combo in our apartment. Not only does it have a weird smell, my clothes do not come out smelling like my detergent or softener - they come out smelling like tide (maybe there's a buildup somewhere from the previous tenant?). The Dryer part is TERRIBLE. I have to run it through 3 dry cycles in order to get the clothes dry. We ended up having our building change this out with a stackable unit.
