Unmatched Design Features
For starters, there's little question that the Flatron L1981Q will turn heads once you set it up on your desk. With a graceful profile, a near-impossible 1.5-inch depth, blue LED, and shiny, silvery, ring-shaped stand, this monitor is something to behold. The black-and-silver bezel, which is less than one inch, is smooth on all sides, and the monitor features a unique double-hinged arm that allows it to fold to just over two inches in height, rotate from landscape to portrait view, and bend 180 degrees backwards. This means that if you want to share the screen with a person sitting across from you, they won't have to move. And thanks to LG's AutoPivot (landscape to portrait) and Auto Mirror software, the image automatically adjusts to accommodate the position of the screen. The onscreen menu buttons are tucked discreetly but conveniently under the bottom edge of the screen, while only the power button is visible on the front bezel.

While its stunning looks put the monitor in a class of its own, it's the array of features that truly sets it apart. For starters, the Flatron L1981Q features a lightning fast eight-millisecond response time, making it ideal for gamers and multimedia enthusiasts of all stripes. DVDs appear brilliantly on the screen, and whether your computer is a PC or Macintosh, this monitor will handle them both equally as well.

The L1981Q comes with analog and DVI inputs along with a viewing angle of 160/160. The monitor also features touch-sensitive buttons and cable ports located on the back of the base to allow for easy connectivity. In addition, it comes with standard mounting brackets for easy wall mounting. As with all LG LCD panels, the entire Ultra Slim series exceeds ISO 9000 standards and comes with an industry-leading three-year, QuickSwap Replacement warranty.

With all these outstanding design and performance features, it's no wonder that the Flatron L1981Q was honored by PC World with a 2005 World Class Award for the 19-inch LCD category. But when you're twice as thin as your competitors, and you offer performance that they can only dream of, then it's only a matter of time before the kudos starts streaming in.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great price for a great monitor, February 1, 2006

ASSMAN (Los Angeles, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: LG Flatron L1981Q Ultra-Slim 19-inch LCD Monitor (Electronics)
I was in the market for a 19 inch monitor due to my entire legal library being on the internet and/or on CD. My 17 incher (an LG model as well) was very reliable, but it was not giving me the size that I need. I tried comparable models from Sony, Viewsonic, NEC, etc., and I really was not happy with any of them (price being the main factor). This LG display is great in that the text is rich, clear, and very comfortable to read. The response time, although impressive for gamers, was not much of an issue for me, but it showed so nicely when scrolling the text. The only downside to this monitor was the tilting software, but I really don't need it anyway. I mean who cares if the monitor can twist and turn?!?! The display is so much more important! For the price, there is no better monitor. The colors are vibrant, and it is so easy on the eyes (especially after 5 hours of continuous use - for work, not games). I strongly recommend this monitor to anyone who needs a quality 19 inch display for an affordable price. Plus, the $150 rebate ain't so bad either.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fine for the price, November 23, 2006
This review is from: LG Flatron L1981Q Ultra-Slim 19-inch LCD Monitor (Electronics)
Very good at the price. Rotation a little stiff and unwieldy. First try caused plastic cover on arm to pop off, but it was easily put back on.

Note for Mac users-will not automatically rotate image (no mac driver) but you can use OS X "Display" preference panel "Rotate" pop up button.

I needed a new monitor for my new Sony Vaio. I checked out a few at places like Best Buy, Circuit City, Staples etc. I thought I wanted the Samsung until I saw it side by side with the LG. No comparison! Great moniter, Great price, easy setup.
