Easy to use and very versatile, with a few quibbles,

OK, this is going to be somewhat complicated, because the vacuum cleaner itself is somewhat complicated. It tries to be a combination of both an upright and a canister vacuum by use of a removable "wand," which forms the backbone of the vacuum.
UPRIGHT MODE: When you use it as an upright, it works pretty darn well. It removed an amazing amount of grit and other debris from my carpet that my last vacuum completely failed to remove. Now, the unit does have a safety feature, wherein the spinning brushes stop spinning if the top is too upright, and that is a little too sensitive for me. That is to say, sometimes I pull the unit back towards my foot, only to have it stop spinning. Nonetheless, that is a minor complaint - in general the vacuum worked wonders. CANISTER MODE: When you remove the "wand" you have an already attached (after your initial assembly) but removable pet hair turbine, which looks like a miniature upright, and you can extend the wand to get to the ceiling (for cobwebs) or the top of the drapes. The turbine doesn't bend easily for use on drapes, but that's OK, you can remove it and use a different attachment for those. My biggest problem with the wand is reattaching it to the base. Unless I am doing something wrong, I always find it just a little hard to get it in correctly on the first try, and if you don't get it in correctly you can't secure the wand and return to upright mode. It doesn't take more than a couple of seconds to reattach, but I do wish it was even easier. Nonetheless, I had no trouble using the wand in its various modes, and thought that it did a great job on my stairs (especially), ceilings and drapes. By the way, the hose on this vacuum stretches out quite nicely, meaning that you are not too tightly tethered to the base. EMPTYING: A very nice feature of this vacuum is that it is bagless. Now, I had a bagless vacuum once before, and I hated it because it never seemed to get completely clean. The tank on this unit removes quite easily, and empties with the push of a button, then you just click it back in. I checked all of the parts of the tank, and found that the unit does a very good job of keeping itself clean. I must say I was very pleased. CORD: Cords can be a problem. Fortunately, this vacuum has a 40 foot cord, which means that I can plug it in and then vacuum my front room, foyer, kitchen and mudroom without ever having to move the plug. I like that. If you have a small house, on the other hand, you might find the long cord a bit of a nuisance. Personally, I don't see why they can figure out a way to have a removable cord, like a computer has, so that you can go with a longer one or a shorter one. But, for me the 40 footer is quite nice, and I have no complaints about it. CONCLUSION: As for me, I found this to be a really great vacuum cleaner, easy to use, and very versatile. I was tempted to take away one star for the problem I have with reattaching the wand and the spinning issue, but in truth those are minor quibbles. The fact is that when I put my cursor over the fifth star, it says, "I love it." And, in point of fact I do. I think that this is a great vacuum and I am very glad that I got it. I highly recommend this unit.

Amazing bagless vacuum that lives up to the hype,
This review is from: LG Kompressor Upright Vacuum, Bagless, Blue, LuV300B (Kitchen)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
UPDATE: I've now had the vacuum for about seven months and wanted to check in with an update about a potential problem buyers should be aware of. A week ago the agitator belt began making a loud whining noise and gave off an awful stench of burning rubber, and then promptly snapped in half. The belt, of course, is not covered by the warranty as it's a "consumable part" that wears out over time. A replacement belt through LG is only $11, but then the shipping is another $11 on top of that. While I still love this vacuum, I'm less than thrilled to be shelling out more than $20 for a part that may or may not break again in another six months and am left without a working vacuum in the interim.
After watching the promotional video for the LG Kompressor bagless vacuum, you'd think it could cure world hunger and solve all of society's problems while doing your taxes for you. While the promotion is a little over the top, this is actually a really impressive vacuum. It does everything it should, and has almost no problems of any kind. When the vacuum is plugged in it makes a noise indicating its receiving power, and humorously enough it sounds like a video game effect when Link picks up the tri-force in Legend of Zelda. Prior to the LG Kompressor, I'd been using a Kenmore Magic Blue, which was far noisier than it had any right to be and had very little suction power. The LG picked up an absurd amount of dirt on the first pass through in my living room, and made the carpet noticeably cleaner than my last vacuum ever did. Maybe it's just because I wasn't used to how higher end vacuums operate, but it's actually rather interesting to watch all the brushes spinning and the dirt container rotate. As far as setup goes, the assembly process is simple and intuitive. Parts snap into place easily and there isn't too much labor involved. The design of the vacuum is one of its best features, as everything comes apart without any problems and the buttons are positioned conveniently. Emptying the collected dirt is more simple than with a vacuum that uses a bag. It's just a matter of pressing a button, pulling out the dirt container, and emptying in the garbage. The container snaps back into place just by pushing it against the side of the vacuum. For small spaces or areas that are harder to reach, there is smaller pet hair "wand" that pulls off the back side of the main unit (the "do not use on your pets" warning in the manual is a riot), as well as a long plastic attachment for vacuuming out tight areas in corners or inside couches. Pulling it out is a snap, and it uses the same power buttons as the main vacuum, so it's not complicated to use. The only minor flaw with the vacuum's design is that sometimes it takes a few tries to get the pet hair attachment to go back into its slot due to the positioning of the power cord, but it's honestly an issue of losing 10 seconds of time or less. For the higher tier of more expensive vacuums, this one is a real winner and it completely lives up to the hype of suction power, ease of use, and aesthetic design.

Most Versatile Vacuum I've Ever Used,

This review is from: LG Kompressor Upright Vacuum, Bagless, Blue, LuV300B (Kitchen)
After our 6 year old Kenmore Progressive (was a Consumer Reports top rate model) died, I went on the search for what next that could deal with pet hair and a house full of kids. I was a little concerned about going from the veteran Kenmore to newcomer LG but I am a believer now. Here's why...
1) It was amazing and disgusting all at once to see what this thing got out of the last room we had used our Kenmore in just one week earlier. Not just the very visible pet hair I expected but an amazing amount of fine dirt was in the bin. 2) It is quiet by comparison to the old Kenmore Progressive, which itself was radically quieter than our prior short lived Hoover Wind Tunnel, which I assumed was named for it's noise level. 3) This is the easiest to use vacuum we have ever owned, period. The tool design is stellar and my wife and I had no issues pulling the wand with power head in and out. Go from carpet to couch to corners to stairs almost without stopping. Yes, you have to aim a little to get it in the right position when putting the wand back in place but I am not sure I understand some reviews that described this as difficult - it's not. All your tools are right there with you, they start and stop automatically as you detach them, and best yet, they work. I also want to mention that despite some reviews to the contrary the vacuum works with no / dead batteries, hence the backup power switch on the body of the vacuum. But, once you see how it easy it is to turn the vacuum on and off, adjust the power and start and stop the brushes from the wand / handle you will want the batteries.

Almost bought a Hoover Platinum,
This review is from: LG Kompressor Upright Vacuum, Bagless, Blue, LuV300B (Kitchen)
So I was reading the 500+ Amazon reviews of the Hoover Platinum Lightweight Upright with the separate canister and blahbity blah and I was convinced it was the vac for our new house. Averaging 4.5 stars, the reviewers had me believing that I was totally wrong about all my preconceptions regarding bags and weight and attachments and all that. I was ready to push the button but, being the intrepid consumer I am, I hesitated. One more day of due diligence.
Coincidentally, I was also shopping for a cordless trimmer/edger and was at the local Sears store that very night with my wife when I saw the vacuum section! Wow, there they were, all the ones I had been reading about including the Hooooover! And it was on sale for the same price listed on Amazon - $199! Two birds with one stone and no waiting, I was ready to take it home. But wait, here we were among all these vacs in person, why not compare? Which is what we proceeded to do and I have to tell you I was amazed that I had forgotten how much better real shopping is than virtual. Reviews are great data but I'm now convinced that sometimes people writing the reviews just want to believe they've chosen the best product when, in fact, they have nothing to compare or just the memories of the previous one that broke or sucked (or in this case didn't). So there we are checking out all the other machines, particularly the ones branded for being great for pet owners, when a young sales guy walks up. "You have pets? Yes? Let me show you something real quick", he says. He takes us around the corner and points to the LG, "I have this one myself and it's got the best suction of any of these and it's great on pet hair - and it's on sale for $179". I had to admit it looked cooler than the Hoover, but this was a sales guy on commission pushing whatever they wanted to move that day. I had the heartfelt backing of over 500 Amazon reviewers telling me not to believe it. Then he lays it out, "Pick whichever one you want and we'll plug 'em up and take 'em to 'the rug'". It was on. I ran to my Hoover prepared to show the kid the power of the internet in meat space. He threw down a bunch of dirt on a black carpet and allowed me to go first. I Hooved and Hooved but a disappointing gray haze remained on the rug. I also noticed that the thing wasn't exactly what I'd call quiet as the reviewers would have me believe. It had trouble picking up a coin too. LG's turn. To be fair he let me do the honors. I immediately noticed that it was much quieter. It was also quite a bit heavier, but that was actually a good thing, it made it feel more solid and the beater assisted the action. Going over the same area the gray haze disappeared with each single stroke. The dime came right off the floor and plopped in the canister - no bag, so I got it back, bonus! I was beside myself. I had all the intel but I was wrong. So, long story but I feel like I had to make the point. Don't believe everything you read when shopping online. I'm not saying people lie, even though I'm sure some of that goes on too, I'm just saying people want to believe and that can skew perception. I admit that I didn't compare every vacuum that day, but when I got home I did all the floors and picked up a huge load of dog hair, all nicely compressed into a lump which I easily ejected out the bottom of the can - just like in the video. I wanted results and that's what I got. But I wonder what I would have said about the Hoover without anything to compare it to? And with a bag you never know exactly what you're picking up. I imagine I would have loved it and given it a 5 star review on Amazon. So I'm only giving it 4 stars (4.5 if possible) because it doesn't have a light, the wand dealy has to be attached to the hose and secured in place or the machine won't run, and I've only had it a week. I'll update if I find anything that changes my mind, but so far I'm feeling pretty lucky I went old school and talked to a sales guy - never thought I'd say that.

This is a great vacuum - don't buy into the Dyson hype,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: LG Kompressor Upright Vacuum, Bagless, Blue, LuV300B (Kitchen)
I have always been skeptical of the Dyson hype - I think most people love to talk about how good their Dyson is so they feel better about buying something that is four times overpriced and mediocre quality. I think the bottom line about vacuums is this:
1) Ambient air pressure is mostly constant and what matters most is not how much of a pressure differential it can produce, but the volume of air it can move and where the inlets are located. Don't be fooled into thinking that one vacuum is capable of generating more "suction" than another because it has a more efficient proprietary top secret impeller design - volume of air is what matters, not pressure differential and Dyson certainly doesn't have the exclusive on impeller design. Unfortunately you'll never see manufacturers rate their vacuums in CFM. This vacuum moves an impressive amount of air and on hard surfaces will pull dog hair into the beater bar from 5+ inches away - this is because it is moving a LOT of air. It also diffuses the exhaust very well, so the vacuum doesn't blow dirt around before it has a chance to suck it up. This was something my old bagless Eureka wouldn't do - and keep in mind I didn't replace it because it was performing poorly, I replaced it because I was tired of having to empty it 5 times to vacuum my house. 2) Efficiency in separating dirt from air is key - if you don't remove dust from the exhaust, the dust will just circulate through the air and settle again. This vacuum does a great job - it doesn't smell like a dirty vacuum, and in bright sunlight you don't see dust particles blowing around. Additionally the Kompressor functionality is amazing and lets you spend time vacuuming, not trying to find creative ways to not spill dirt everywhere when you empty the dirt chamber. 3) This vacuum has a Gates Micro-V belt, which is the same technology used in the accessory belt on your car - it contains V channels for increased grip and cooler operation. It also uses kevlar cords which are used to transmit the power, while the rubber is only expected to provide traction on the pulley - this means the belt will NEVER stretch like the belts on other vacuums, including the Dysons. Nobody can argue with longer belt life and better performance, can they? Then again, maybe the accountants at LG didn't realize they could sell you a crappy belt 50 cent belt for $14 after 12 months of use. 4) Nobody has really had a great way to store all of the attachments until this vacuum. I am really impressed with how well the attachment features store and operate. 5) Washable filters are key - this vacuum includes a spare, so you're not forced to spend time hunting down consumable items when you need them the most. 6) Noise. This thing is pretty quiet - in fact the quietest vacuum I've seen. Part of that is the strategy of moving a higher volume of air at a lower pressure. Since this vacuum meets all of these criteria, it's a great buy. My only complaint is that the kickdown lever doesn't offer much traction regardless of footwear.

Move over Dyson, the LG is here,
This review is from: LG Kompressor Upright Vacuum, Bagless, Blue, LuV300B (Kitchen)
I saw this vacuum in July at HD. We were looking for a replacement for our Dyson DC17 animal which was working fine, but I was getting tired of pulling hair and string out of the roller brush. When we saw the LuV300B on sale, we bought one.
Assembly was straightforward. Right out of the box I knew it was a winner. It had more suction than my Dyson, adjustable brush height, 3 motor speeds, and a handy switch to turn off the roller brush. It was also quieter and more easily reached areas under tables and chairs. I had given up using the turbo wand on my Dyson, but this one is actually usable. Pros: Suction Can do the whole house with out emptying (vs. 3 times for the Dyson) Handy switch to turn off the brush Quiet Useful turbo brush. 5 Year warranty Cons: No retractable cord. Somewhat heavy. LG seems like they will stand behind this product, given the warranty. I've dropped my Dyson down a flight of stairs and it didn't hurt it. I hope the LG is that durable.

Second thought. After few months canister broke, customer service didn't fix product under warrant,
By Stela Pen "Stela" (CO, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: LG Kompressor Upright Vacuum, Bagless, Blue, LuV300B (Kitchen)
I had a Dyson and I was looking for a better vacuum. This fulfill all my needs. Attachment that comes with the hose is great! Suction power is better than dyson. Bin is big and the compression technology helps to minimize number of times you empty. To have an idea, with dyson I had to empty the bin twice and with this vacuum I empty only once and there was still space for more.
Another test I did: I vacuum the carpet with Dyson and later with LG. I was surprised with the dust that was still on the carpet that LG picked up! I won't complain about the dyson it works ok, but this LG has more suction power (I saw specification at the LG site), it's silent (more than dyson), power cord is long (40ft) and this is very nice! no more stop to vacuum to look for a closer outlet! The vacuum has a bigger bin and the compress technology compress the dusty leaving more space in the bin. So no more stop to vacuum to empty bin! Another thing about the bin, dyson has something in the middle of the bin, so if you have pets, sometimes the dirt get stuck inside the canister and you have to use your hands to take the dirty out. With LG you don't need to worry about that. There is nothing inside the bin that would make the dirt and dog hair stuck inside the bin. The vacuum seems heavy but compared to the dyson model it is lighter. Of course you don't want to compare the weight of the LG with a oreck. All controls either are on the handle (diginal) or on the bottom and it's controlled by the feet. It pick up pet hair great (things that my Dyson didn't, with Dyson I had to pass over twice or three times to catch the hair). I was between the Platinum Hoover and this vacuum which was more expensive and I don't regret at all on buying this LG. That was the best vacuum I bought after the dyson. Let's see after few months how the suction power will be. I'll back to write more about. ****** Few months after: The vacuum lost suction power after I start to use carpet cleaning powder (note: there is no instructions from LG on restricting using cleaning and scenting powder that you can find on any shelf at the grocery store). Besides, one day when I removed the canister the bottom just opened and spread all dirt/dusty/powder over the machine and floor (it was a huge mess!!!!). I called the customer representative, I was surprised how fast they were on sending me the package and label to my house so I could send the unit for repair. They returned the vacuum in 1 week. My disappointment is that looking at the vacuum it seemed that nothing was changed. The biggest disappointment when I received my vacuum back was: 1. there was scratches in the unit I never had before (believe, I'm very careful with all my appliances and furniture); 2. suction power seemed a little bit better but not the same when it was a new brand product; 3. Canister: when I removed the canister, the bottom just opened and spread everything. I had to carry the canister to the trash holding the bottom and emptied it. I looked close and I noticed that the lock that holds the bottom of the canister were broken. So conclusion: the vacuum I had sent to repair was sent back to me worst than it was. No solution at all. I sent an email to LG complaining about that. So I'm waiting for them to let me know what they will do with my case before I return this unit to the store and back to my old dyson. I know LG has nice and good features but I don't want to stuck with a scratched and broken vacuum forever. At least my dyson never had broken during all the years I have (about 3 years). For now, I'll leave 1 star for this product and if they really fix this issue I'll back to report my feedback and also pictures and video of the broken and scratched unit if this is not solved. **** New update and last: Well after called customer service I realized they are not willing to fix the scratches and seems that they are avoiding to receive the unit for maintenance. They now are requesting the receipt of the purchase (they hadn't asked me the first time I sent the unit for maintenance) and without the receipt they don't say they won't fix they just keep repeating "we need the receipt in order to receive the unit". I had asked for the supervisor and no help at all. Lucky I bought the unit at the local store that is more flexible than LG, so I'll just return the unit and buy a dyson. Too bad because I liked the LG vacuum but without a decent service and breaking few months after use, forget about. If I could I would give ZEROOOOOOOO star.

Good combo of upright & canister,

This review is from: LG Kompressor Upright Vacuum, Bagless, Blue, LuV300B (Kitchen)
I bought this to replace my canister vacuum. I wanted something easier to maneuver and bagless. We were looking into Dysons, but saw this display at the store and after some research we went with this one. The LG Kompressor is a great combination of an upright & canister vacuum. It has all the things I love about a cansiter (detachable wand, dusting brush, upholstry/stair attachment) but it is bagless and a lot easier to manuever. It does a great job of picking up dust and sucking things up from the sides of the vacuum, which is good for going around baseboards. I love the extra long cord! I can vacuum my whole house without unplugging it!
The attachments are great, but they take a lot more fooling around with than a canister. Not anything difficult, just a few extra steps that I'm not used to. But the length of the wand & hose is great! When I put it together and tried to use it for the first time, my dusting brush was not snapping into place on the wand-the spring was broken. I tried to contact customer service online, but couldn't get a response. I ended up calling the hotline and they shipped a new part out to me (free of cost, of course). I have a few remarks that are not complaints or criticisms, just things F.Y.I. that are good to know: 1. The exhaust fan is at the front of the vacuum & blows around curtains & papers. 2. To attach the crevice tool to the wand you have to remove the wand, take off the upholstry attachment, and attach the crevice tool (to put the wand back up you have to remove the crevice tool & reattach the upholstry tool) 3. The dusting brush can be attached to the end of the wand for extra length, but you have to remove the dusting brush from the wand & handle, attach the handle to the wand, remove the upholstry attachment, and attach the dusting brush, (and then reverse the process to put it away) Very happy with this purchase :)

This review is from: LG Kompressor Upright Vacuum, Bagless, Blue, LuV300B (Kitchen)
I have only had this vacuum for a few weeks, and will update this review in a few months. So far, it is WONDERFUL. I have two large golden retrievers and four children, so we have quite a lot of tracked around dirt & pet hair. I was looking for a well built cleaner that did a good job on both carpet and hardwood/tile, which has been a real issue in the past. This vacuum handles pet hair and hard floor dust/dirt extremely well, and I feel like I have finally found the right vacuum for me. Be aware that this model is not available in any of several stores I have checked, except by special order. I ordered on a Friday night and it was at my door on Tuesday morning. Lovely!
Things I love about it: 1. It is FANTASTIC on pet hair on both hard and carpeted areas. My floors have never been cleaner, and the pet hair doesn't get stuck in the dust bin or cause clogged hoses. The attachment works great on sofas and dog beds. 2. THE HANDLE CONTROLS. They allow you to switch between the hard floor and carpet settings, and control suction with a touch. Even though it requires batteries, the convenience is something I really appreciate as I have lots hard floors with throw rugs, as well as low and extremely high pile carpet. The vacuum does not suck up my small throw rugs, nor does it pull out the binding yarn, which makes it rate very high in my book! 3. THE DETACHABLE WAND. This design is so well thought out and time saving. You press a release button, and the small brush attachment and extension tubing comes on automatically. Because it is already attached, you don't have to fool around with 'on board' attachments, with the exception of the crevice tool. The wand extends just by pulling it out, and there are no extra parts to deal with or assemble. The unit is very easy to carry by way of a large handle so you can move about as if using a canister style vacuum while using the wand attachment. The hose and extension are plenty long so you don't have to haul the base every second to reach, and it will reach up about 10 stairs easily. When you are finished, the wand snaps back into place quickly, turns itself off, and regular suction continues from the base. 4. THE DUST BIN. This really does compact the dirt, and it releases/empties very easily. The dust bin is not tapered, and does not have an area that traps extra 'fuzzies' etc. so you don't have to reach inside to pull any loose bits out. Also, it doesn't have to be emptied nearly as often as other bagless units I have used. The wiper inside does a great job keeping the bin clean, allowing you to see clearly when it needs to be emptied. When you remove the dust bin there is NO trace of dust where it connects to the base. :) Bravo! 5. THE QUALITY OF MATERIALS. This unit is made to last. The plastic is very heavy and does not feel cheaply made in any way. Compared to Dyson models I have tried, the LG model is far and above the Dyson in quality of materials and overall design. Things that could be improved: 1. The unit is bulky through the middle, making it difficult to handle in smaller spaces and stairs. You really need to use the hose attachment under beds/furniture and on most stairs. 2. It is a bit heavy, which has not been an issue for me, but I can see where it might be hindering to those with back issues. I am 5'10" and the handle height is perfect for me, but perhaps might be a bit high and inconvenient for shorter people. 3. Bulkiness through the middle makes maneuvering under beds/furniture difficult. The wand works well, but I would still like to be able to run the regular vacuum a bit further under furniture. In all, this was a very good purchase. The price is much more reasonable than some units, and in my opinion functions much better than some of the more popular brands. I would certainly buy this again. I use the vacuum every day, and will update in a few months after it is really broken in :)

LG Kompressor Upright Vacuum, Bagless, Blue, LuV300B
This is a wonderful vacuum. It's quiet, powerful, and versatile. It looks good. I have owned several other bag less "cyclone" type vacuums, including the old Fantom Fury. This new model from LG is an improvement over all of the others. The vacuum is easy to maneuver over high pile carpeting, bare floors, and area rugs. When going from carpet to bare floor you can switch off the brush with just a tap of the switch on the handle. The speed of the vacuum can be changed directly from the handle, a plus when you are using the wand. Vacuuming drapery and furniture is not a problem with the wand. The long reach of the telescoping wand gets the cobwebs up in high places. The included pet hair turbine tool is actually another rotating brush attachment. This works like a breeze to remove the hair my two Labs leave on furniture. The turbine tool can also be uses to get under beds and furniture without having to move them. Even though the vacuum weighs in at over 20 pounds, the large wheels allow for easy movement. The extra-long cord allows me to plug it in once and vacuum the whole house (1 level). LG includes a 21 page owner's manual in English, Spanish and French that's easy to understand. With all of these features and a 5 year warranty this vacuum is my new found household helper. Pros: * Dual suction ports * Bag less * Long cord - 40 feet * Attached hose and handle * Self-Storing Hose * Telescoping wand * Less emptying - Kompressor technology * Washable HEPA filter * Easy to maneuver * Brush with cover * Pet Hair Turbine Tool * Crevice Tool * 4 Pile heights * Quiet * Excellent suction even on high pile carpet * 5 Year Warranty * Controls on handle: On / Off; 3 Speeds; Carpet / Floor switches between agitator brush on / off Cons: * No headlight * Screwdriver needed to remove cover for clogs in the agitator brush area |
