Service-wise, this one's a champ. It gets service practically everywhere! The battery life is also phenomenal. I send 20 or so texts a day and usually make one or two short phone calls, and I can go for 2 or 3 days without charging.
Here are my only complaints:
--I've experienced a few instances of the phone randomly shutting off without me telling it to. This could be due to the fact that I'm still getting used to owning a phone with keys exposed even when it's shut (though the key lock is generally effective), or it could be that I have a lemon phone.
--No games! I guess this is a general fault of CDMA phones, but it's a huge bummer. I now browse Facebook when I used to be able to play Space Invaders, but this takes up minutes!
--I switched from a GSM (570g Motorola) to this phone (a CDMA), and it was a PAIN! Be warned!
Overall, good phone for someone who talks and texts, doesn't want to be embarrassed around their iPhone/Blackberry-toting friends, but doesn't want a huge bill every month.
For what I paid for this phone it is very well made, high quality, well functioning, and I just love it. You can not beat the price of $14.95 plus S&H. Also, as long as you have the phone (at least when I bought it anyway) every time you add minutes to it Tracfone will double that for you for FREE! You just can't beat this deal.
This phone will access the internet, text, etc. If you bought this phone you would be very happy with it! I plan to use this phone for years to come!
Activated it, added minutes on line with Tracfone, no problems.
This is my second Tracfone.First was a very simple, outdated LG (no bluetooth, no camera).
The LG290c Bluetooth works like a charm in my vehicle (an 08 Rav4). Linked, no problems,
Received sound quality is as good as any phone I'v had (a few Verizon phones- before I
got smart and dropped them and got a tracfone.) The calls I make are clear and crisp according
to those I'v called.
Battery life is also better than most. A week on standby, many hours of talk (I don't talk that
much but battery holds up just fine. I don't get caught with a dead battery just when the phone is
My only negative comment is the camera. The phone does not take the usual micro sd cards to store
photos. The photos cannot be downloaded to a computer. I guess you could send them to yourself but
I have not tried that. So camera not as practical as it should be, but hey, the price for the
phone was right.
To sum up- If you need a phone to (guess what) make phone calls this thing is great. There are much
better phones to text with, much better phones with built in cameras for still pix and video.
