I then called LG and they were unable to fix it.

I thought all was well again until 4 months later when the subwoofer stopped working.

I purchased this system in May of 2010. When it worked, it worked great and I really enjoyed the quality of the blu-ray player and sound.

About a week ago the wireless subwoofer stopped working. It has power but will not link up with the wireless receiver. I tried everything I could possibly do and couldn't get it to "remate" (connect) again. I then called LG and they were unable to fix it.

LG offered to repair the system but they wants me to spend $70.00 for them to look at it and this does not include shipping. From what the customer service representative told me, the 1 year warranty means that regardless of the cost to repair, my cost is capped at $70.00. I'm not sure how that qualifies as a warranty but according to LG it does.

What is troubling about this issue is that this problem does not appear to be an isolated incident. I searched the internet for reviews from people who owned the system. There are a number of people who are having this exact same problem after using the system for about 6 months. Mine started in just 5 months. It's starting to look like this product has a defect.

I own an LG cell phone, washer and dryer, and this blu-ray theater system. I've never had a problem with any LG product before. I'm surprised that LG would put out a product that seems to have a systematic defect. I'm even more surprised that the LG customer service would be so bad and not customer friendly. This experience has really questioned my brand loyalty towards LG. At this point, they must know this product has a problem.

Worked for 120 days, which is 30 days past the Labor warranty. Even though I got a great deal from Amazon, LG's service sucks!! I called them when I started having an issue with the wireless portion of this device. I am an IT guy, and I know electronics. On top of that, I read the manual and did research online before calling Tech Support for LG. Either way, I tried "remating" the wireless subwoofer and rear speakers two dozen times personally, and then another half dozen while Tech Support was on the line. After spending 15 mins on the phone with Tech Support, he proceeds to tell me that I will need to send the unit in for service, at the cost of $69.99!! To me, this is ridiculous! I just spent quite a bit of money on a product for it to last a little under 4 months. I am contacting Executive Service for LG tomorrow during "Normal Business Hours" to see if they will help me out with this issue. If they do not, this will be the last product I EVER purchase from LG!

Buyers beware! I would look elsewhere for your HTIB needs to avoid the headache that I am going through.

We got this system yesterday after waiting about six weeks. We had found it when searching the LG site, and while it was "released", the LG rep I emailed said that it was just taking time for the distributors to get it to retailers. LG service was prompt and VERY helpful!

When it was finally available on Amazon, my wife and I jumped on it and had it over nighted. (BTW: Amazon Prime rocks!).

This system was everything we wanted. It was easy to put together, and the NetFlix, You Tube, and the Pandora radio were simple to get going.

The picture and sound quality were excellent and we were thrilled with every feature except one.

The rear speakers are NOT exactly wireless.

We had envisioned that three front three (right, left, and center) would plug into the blu ray receiver, and the subwoofer and rear speakers would be completely wireless.

What we found was that the system comes with a box (about the size and weight of a Wii) called the "Wireless Speaker Router". This box can be placed anywhere in a room, as long as it has access to an electrical outlet. The box DOES wirelessly connect to the receiver AND wirelessly connect to the subwoofer.

HOWEVER, the two rear speakers have to be connected via speaker wire to this device.

We have put the wireless router in the back of our living room, thus significantly reducing the amount of wire needed for each rear speaker. If we has had to wire these rear speakers directly to the blu ray receiver, it would have taken a lot more wire. But make no mistake, the rear speakers are wired. You will have figure out how to hide the wires along open walls and across doorways. We had hoped for complete wireless.

My original title for this article was: "Not quite perfect, but Really, really good!" and I gave the product 4 stars. As you can tell from the new title of the review, "Please save yourself the headache", my feelings have changed drastically on this system (LG LHB975). The original review appears in its entirety below. I feel very badly if my initial positive review led anyone to purchase this system.

So... what went wrong? After a short time: everything. Blu-ray disks would not play correctly, even with the latest Software / Firmware upgrades. The connections to the wireless rear speakers and the wireless subwoofer began to go in and out, and then eventually quit completely. Fortunately I had the foresight to purchase an extended SquareTrade warranty with the product. After the first product failure, SquareTrade basically replaced the whole system. Believe it or not, the replacement system eventually failed too. So I had two total failures in a course of a year and a half. After the second total meltdown, SquareTrade cut me a check for the initial purchase value of the product. They wanted nothing more to do with the LG LHB975 and neither did I. Counting the original system that I received from Amazon, that ended up as three failed systems (in a year and a half). Here's a few things I learned from this process:
- Wait until the Home-Theater-In-a-Box (HTIB) is out for at least a few months before you decide to buy it. That way you can read some more informed reviews.
- If the product is expensive, don't be afraid to buy an extended warranty (like SquareTrade)! Sometimes a little extra money can save you a whole lot!

Original Review:

I really wish I could have given this system 5 stars.
