With the fourth, the convection function did not work properly.
Robert K. Harvey
LG doesn't stand behind their product, they are not built to last, and I will never buy any of their products again.
Marylou Colver
I've seen some models where the one stars and five stars were equal.

It took 4 of these. With the first, the microwave didn't work. The second and third were damaged in shipment due to inadequate packaging. With the fourth, the convection function did not work properly.
So, I decided to have them fix it instead of ordering yet another. I called customer service and spoke with someone, probably in Korea who was poorly trained and spoke English poorly. I explained that the oven would not come up to temperature an that it kept displaying an error message. I had put a thermocouple inside; the maximum achievable temperature was 200 deg. F. She asked over and over if I was sure that I had enough electricity' She also kept telling me that I could not rely on my thermocouple to measure the temperature even after I told her that I tried to cook something for twice the prescribed time and it remained uncooked. She finally agreed after at least a half hour to send a technician who replaced the temperature sensor and its been working OK since then.

We have had our microwave for about 7 months now, and we think it is great. We got a 5 year extended warranty due to issues we have seem in reviews, but we have had no problems at all. Rotates, the venting is just average, but everything else is great. Plenty of power and cooks fast.

I have the model before this one - LGLMVh1750ST and it just failed after 6.5 years. The avg. microwave life is reported to be about seven years, so it didn't quite make the avg. However, our older and simpler models lasted more than a decade each and are still going in our guest rooms.

If you read the microwave reviews and regardless of brands - the number of early failure seems to be rapidly increasing. Look at the number of 1 star ratings as a percentage of the totals and compared to the five star ratings. I've seen some models where the one stars and five stars were equal. What a crap shoot.

I'm shopping for a new microwave since the old LG died and I can't find a model with ratings that have less than 20% 1 star ratings. Really would you buy a product with a 20% failure rate in the first year? Most 1 star rating are the direct result of a complete failure of the microwave with in a few days weeks or months at best. What the hell happened to dependable microwaves?
