LG Window-Mounted Air Conditioner

The LG LW1812ERS 18,000 BTU 230-Volt Window-Mounted Air Conditioner is perfect for rooms up to 1000 square feet. You will cool a lot and save even more with this unit's energy saver function, 24-hour on/off timer and a 10.7 Energy Efficiency Ratio. With its full-function remote, you can get your cool on from across the room. Plus, LG's patented Gold Fin anti-corrosion coating provides a protective shield so the unit lasts longer. This unit requires a special 230V electrical outlet and will not operate with a standard 115V household electrical outlet.

Window-Mounted Air Conditioner

This 18,000 BTU Window-Mounted Air Conditioner requires a special 230V electrical outlet. This unit will not work with a standard 115V outlet. The 3 cooling speeds, 3 fan speeds and Auto Cool allows you to control the temperature of your room at your pace. Living isn't always easy in the summer. There are storms, high winds and extreme heat that can lead to power outages. Keep yourself covered with Auto Restart, which automatically turns the unit back on when power is restored.

Energy Efficient

This AC unit has an Energy Efficiency Ratio of 10.7 and is sure to provide you with savings, along with convenient, cool comfort. In Energy-saver mode the fan continues to run for approximately 3 minutes after the cooling stops. Then you can select high, med or low fan speed to adjust the room to your desired cooling temperature. Because the fan does not circulate the room air continuously, less energy is used.

Electronic Touch Controls

Electronic controls allow you to easily select your cooling options with the touch of a button. With the ability to cool an area up to 1000 square feet the 4-way air deflection directs cool air where you want it. By adjusting the deflection, air is directed up, down, left or right to move the air where it's needed most. Plus, with 3 cooling speeds, 3 fan speeds and a 24-hour on/off timer means you get cooling control exactly how you want it, on your schedule.

Remote Control

The convenient remote control allows you to set and maintain room temperature from across the room. You have the ability to change the fan speed, timer, and the temperature.

I was very limited on sizes for the thru the wall sleeve. I had a GE before, and barely anybody made a size that would fit. This one was a touch smaller and just packed around unit.
It came damaged with the radiator fins, and it was a lot of damage. Luckily it did not hit the coils inside the radiator, so the thing works fine. I am happy for how it cools, and it came the next day with free shipping.
It had to of been opened before because all of the packing inside was cracked and moved around, with front and back damage to both radiators.
I am still giving it 5 stars because it works very nice

We bought this because our old window unit that was the same size malfunctioned. The old one started freezing up when on anything but the warmest setting. The service man said not to bother repairing it, replace it ASAP. He said the cost of repair could run twice what a new 18000 BTU unit would cost. I ordered this one on a Tuesday afternoon, and it arrived early Wednesday morning. The Prime shipping was a lifesaver, other retailers wanted to charge $200 to ship it in 10 days since it is an oversize item.

The unit itself works well. It is very heavy, you will either need to have a couple of fairly strong men available, or hire someone to assist you to install it. Once installed, it worked fine. The energy saver is a plus. This is used in combination with a smaller 6500 BTU unit in the back of the house, an energy saver as well. We haven't reached up to the 114 mark again since we installed it, but I think it will do a much better job of cooling in extreme heat than the unit it replaced.

Temperature has stayed fairly constant, within about a three degree zone since installing this. There is also a "dry" mode you can run if your house gets a bit humid but you don't need to run the AC. It hasn't been cool enough to try that mode yet.

It works well in our very old home.

This air conditioner replaced a similar model whose fan-shaft bearings froze up from corrosion. The model that was replaced did not properly protect the bearings from exposure to weather, although it ran for about six years before finally seizing permanently. This newer model slides in and out of a permanently mounted window case and the shaft bearings seem to be better protected from the elements by the case, although neither model has any means to lubricate the bearings. Now that I know what fails, perhaps a few squirts of WD40 each year will extend the bearing life. Both air conditioners are based on the same "modular" refrigeration system to which the manufacturer just adds the solid-state controls and a case. Everything appears to originate in China and the quality is excellent.

It is a superb cooler with a three-speed fan motor and a useful energy saving feature that avoids continuous running of the compressor and fans in moderate weather. As usual, there is a three-speed fan-only operating mode that circulates air without cooling it.

There are two fans on a common shaft driven by a single three-speed, split-phase induction motor. The phase-shift capacitor failed after a few years using the previous model and it was impossible to find an exact-sized replacement. There was plenty of room to wire in a substitute with the same capacitance and voltage ratings, but this could be an expensive service call if you aren't comfortable doing that. One fan on the common shaft cools the condenser heat-exchanger and the other fan circulates air through the evaporator heat-exchanger and throughout the house.

My 40 year old Ford Philco air conditioner finally passed on.

During our recent heat wave. I ordered from Amazon, 3 days later it was here. I was able to install quickly and get cool.

So far works well.

We will see if it lives as long as the Ford Philco, but I doubt it.

The shipping was a little scary, and by that i mean when it arrived a single person was responsible for moving it from the truck to my door step. This unit is very heavy. From the condition of the packaging I could tell that it was mishandled for its entire trip to my door. I of course immediately open it to check for physical damage. All was well within the package.
I am keeping the 5 star review because the shipping portion is out of the hands of the seller, and this is a product review.
I was replacing a 15 year old AC unit that had apparently been declining in its efficiency for a long time before it had decided to go completely out. I had gotten used to that monster and its money grubbing non working ways for so long that I had not even noticed how bad it had become. Upon instillation of the LG LW1812ERS.... air....COLD GLORIOUS AIR!!!!! And it can keep up with the entire upstairs in the middle of a South Louisiana July!!!! My Fiancee and I were so ecstatic that we occasionally burst into song such as,"Do you want to build a snow man?", and ,"The Mr. Snow Miser Song"!!! In freaking JULY!!! If we owned a cat we would have to change his name to, "Mr. Bigglesworth", because it was freaking freezing!!! I actually had to turn the thermostat to the temperature that i wanted, not 10 degrees below that mark just to try to keep from sweating. Oh no, this model works like you would imagine that an AC should work, like the AC fairy came down and granted our wish!!
Well done LG.... well done.
