LG env Touch VX11000 / env3 VX9200 USB Data / Charging Cable

I just received 3 of these cables, and tested them with my LG EnV Touch. The phone comes up and says: Do NOT use this cable with this phone. So, I researched USB cables online, and discovered that there are some differences. I then measured my original LG cable and this one, and found 2 major differences: This one is improperly made in one respect - in that there is NO electrical connection between the shields (little metal shell) of the standard and mini USB connectors. That means it possibly fails FCC testing (unshielded cables emit radio frequency noise), and violates their regulation. ALSO, possibly specific to the LG EnV Touch, this cable is MISSING an internal 180K resistor, which is supposed to connect pin X (between 4 and 5) of the Mini USB connector, to pin 5 (Ground) on the Mini USB connector (it DOES on the Genuine LG EnV Touch cable). So, the cable MIGHT work OK with other cell phones, but NOT the LG EnV Touch (I don't know if LG uses different resistor values inside other cables to make them different for other phones). So, in my opinion, this vendor should NOT claim that it is the proper cable - and maybe they should TEST one sample of the product for 30 seconds before they sell them. Interestingly - since it is only wires (and supposed to have a resistor) - the cable comes with a CD, but the original LG EnV Touch/USB Cable does not require a CD - either to use with Windows XP, or Ubuntu Linux.

Unfortunalty I did not see the previous review until it was too late. I bought this for my brand new LG Touch (less than 2 weeks old) and it fried my phone! My phone will not turn on anymore, hopefully my carrier will fix it or the seller Bargaincell. They should not be able to sell items like this unless they test them first! I only used this charger to charge my phone twice at work.

This product has worked great for me...it didn't cost a lot but does the same thing my original one did...thanks Amazon!

The LG env touch cover is a beautiful blue, lots of compliments on the color, only the color comes off on your fingers, hands, face, ear, etc. I soaked it a few times, and it bled substantially, and still, after using for one month, I still get color on my skin and clothes. I will be sending it back.....bummer :0(
