Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Style, simplicity, and just the right touch of technology. That's what makes the VX3200 from LG a fabulous choice for entry level phone users. It's the perfect companion to the Verizon Wireless service.

Design
The phone features a traditional clamshell design with a 128 x 128 TFT color display with 65,000 colors. Most of the phone's features and on-screen menus are controlled by a five-way center button on the handset's blue backlit control pad.

Take a closer look at the VX3200's functions.
The top right side of the unit houses an antenna, and the USB-capable data and charging port is housed on the unit's bottom edge. There's a standard jack to accept universal hands-free headsets on the left side of the handset.

Calling Features
The VX3200's built-in address book can store up to 300 contacts for quick and easy management of phone numbers and e-mail addresses. The phone comes with 36 built-in polyphonic ringtones plus a vibrating alert. Voice-activated dialing makes calling your friends, family, and associates as easy as saying their names. The speed-dialing feature allows you to dial up to 99 numbers virtually instantaneously. A built-in speakerphone makes it easy to talk without having the phone to your ear, and the VX3200's GPS location technology pinpoints your exact location when you dial 911. Perhaps most importantly for users in rural areas, the VX3200 is a tri-mode phone, meaning it can operate on Verizon's digital networks, as well as on the analog networks that serve many outlying areas.

Messaging, Internet, and Tools
The VX3200 covers the messaging basics with support for sending and receiving text and graphics messages. T9 text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built in to the unit--a plus for mobile e-mail and text messaging users.

Getting on the Internet anywhere is easy with the VX3200, as well. Verizon's optional Mobile Web package allows you to read and send e-mails, exchange instant messages, and view your favorite Web content on your phone. You can check your e-mail, trade stocks online, compare prices while shopping, access flight information, get movie listings, and find directions to the theater.

The VX3200 ships with a calendar and scheduler, a voice memo application with up to four minutes of record time, and a notepad. An alarm clock, calculator, and world clock are also included, as is the very handy restaurant tip calculator. Never dine without it!

Imaging and Entertainment
The VX3200 features customizable theme colors and screen backgrounds so you can make your phone reflect your personality.

Vital Statistics
The LG VX3200 weighs 3.53 ounces and measures 3.35 x 1.81 x .92 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 200 minutes of digital talk time and up to 180 hours of digital standby time. It runs on the AMPS 800/CDMA 800/CDMA 1900 frequencies. The phone comes with a one-year limited warranty.

What's in the Box
LG VX3200 handset, AC battery charger, lithium-ion battery, user manual, welcome CD-ROM, quick reference guide.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Phone/Low Cost, November 9, 2004

Yaar (MD United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: LG VX3200 Phone (Verizon Wireless) (Wireless Phone)
I purchased this phone through a Radio Shack when I signed up for my Verizon service. It was 20 with a 2 year contract. I love it so far. I've dropped it on hard cement 4 or 5 times and it's still working perfectly and barely has any noticeable surface scratches. The durability of this phone shocks me considering how small and light the phone is and how extremely clumsy I am.

The volume is loud, with a speaker option for people who might have difficulty hearing.

The keys are bright, the phone is very easy to use and the colors and ringtones included on the phone are fun.

The size of the phone is perfect. It's small and lightweight, but everything is still a useable size. Nothing is hard to read and the buttons aren't too close together or too small.

If you leave the phone on standby, the battery EASILY lasts up to 4 days.

It has some extra features that are included with most LG phones: tip calculator(BEST feature ever), customizable alarms, notepad, reminders, schedule, regular calculator, and a world clock.

The reason I gave this phone 4 stars is because it isn't customizable as far as ringtones and wallpapers go, which many people take for granted these days. While that wasn't a selling point for me, I think it's something that the phone lacks. It also only holds about 80 or so text messages in the inbox/outbox before asking you to delete messages. For someone who has to save a lot of important text message info, that might be problematic.

Overall, it's a great low-frills phone for a really low price. If the tiny flaws won't bother you, I highly recommend this phone.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great little flip phone, January 14, 2005
By
This review is from: LG VX3200 Phone (Verizon Wireless) (Wireless Phone)
I've had my Motorola V60 for a couple of years now and wanted to move up to a better plan and better phone. I was with T-Mobile all of this time and wanted to see if they had a good deal for a loyal customer like me. "Sure", they said. "You can *buy* a new phone for about $120". "But I've been a customer for so long, don't you have any specials for us?" "No," they said. "Sorry." I said adios amigos and started my search.

I wallked the malls for three hours doing comparative shopping for phones and plans and decided upon Verizon for the service and the LG VX3200 for my phone. The phone is really high tech looking and stylish with a gray/blue cover. The buttons are well laid out and big to make calling and punching in information a breeze. The striking thing about this unit is the very bright colorful lighted keys. They are all in a brilliant bright blue with one in red and one in green. You won't have any problems seeing this in lighted areas. One of the best things about this phone is the easy menu system. You will be able to navigate to all the various features in this phone without much difficulty, unlike other phone models. The LCD screen is quite bright and you can select different 'wallpaper' for it. The ring tones are varied which gives you a good selection to choose from. The scheduler program is very easy to use and I now leave my Palm Pilot behind now. I can do much of the things I want to on the LG instead. You can jot notes on the LG, set alarms, set reminders, log telephone numbers, and customize just about anything you want. On my old V60, I used the voice recognition feature to call numbers, but it was inaccurate and I soon dropped using this feature. On the LG, the voice activated feature is astoundingly accurate. I find this feature really useful when I have to make a phone call and can't punch the numbers in manually.

The LG VX32000, paired with Verizon wireless service, is a sure winner. As soon as the phone was activated, I was getting much superior signal strength compared to my old T-mobile plan and Motorola V60. I found myself mimicking the Verizon commercial my friend "Can you hear me now?" The commercials are true. You really can get reception in places you couldn't before. I was very pleased with this. The customer service is excellent. The speaker phone and ear speaker volume are excellent and very loud. You'll find yourself actually turning down the volume in stead of trying to max it out as with other phones. One minor complaint is the sound quality of the ear speaker. It is clear, and it is sharp, but just a bit on the tinny side of tone quality. I'm probably a little picky on this but it bothers me just a tad.

Operating this phone is quite easy and intuitive. I spent about fifteen minutes with the phone and was able to familarize myself with most of the basic functions without looking at the manual. The manual is quite intimidating as there are charts and schematics galore, but the actual operation of the phone is much easier than the printed instructions. I use it more as a reference rather than an instuction manual. The manual, while colorful, is incomplete and somewhat hard to find the info you need. There is an index, but it is incomplete. Good thing that the phone is so easy to use, otherwise, the manual wouldn't be much of a help.

The LG is well made, easy to use, light, good styling, and has good battery life. I am very pleased with this phone. It has everything that I need and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. If you are looking for a good color flip phone, I would say the LG is one to consider. Also, if you are looking for a new wireless phone service, I would also recommmend Verizon very highly. They have great plans and their customer service is very professional and friendly. Reception signal is two to three times stronger with Verizon than when I was with T-mobile. Amazing. I would give the LG a rating of 4 1/2 stars and Verizon a solid 5.

5.0 out of 5 stars best phone I have ever owned - and I've had dozens!, March 1, 2005
This review is from: LG VX3200 Phone (Verizon Wireless) (Wireless Phone)
Quite simply, this is the best phone I have ever owned. My most recent phone before this was a Sony Ericsson T610, before that a Motorola V.66 and V.60. I've also had a few Nokia phones.

LG doesn't have the same reputation as Sony Ericsson or Nokia, but their user interface is at least as good. This phone is marketed as a "kid phone", but I am a 40 year old techno-geek and I love it. If you are over camera phones and just want a small, light, well-designed phone with an amazing battery life and speakerphone, this is it.

The only thing missing here is Bluetooth, but I can still synch with my Macintosh using Susteen's DataPilot software and cable. The speakerphone more than makes up for it, and is excellent. This is a three-band phone and even works on analog, so you get the widest coverage possible.
