Little Red Phone--hinge breaks,
By
This review is from: LG VX8350 Phone, Red (Verizon Wireless) (Wireless Phone)
This is the first *new* cell phone I have owned. All my previous phones were *new to me*. So, I love this phone.
Pros Makes calls reliably Few dropped calls Camera Looks good Holds charge very well Red Bluetooth Cons I get charged for data even though I don't think I'm getting any data. (.20-2.00/month) Too much junk that is trying to sell me ring tones and optional features No free games The most useful functions are not the most easily accessible. Doesn't come with the cable to download photos Free ringtones and photos are nothing special...sound tinny Edit: 2/2010-- I've gone from 5 stars to 3. The first time the hinge broke was about 10 months in, so I got it replaced at Verizon. Now it is the second time. My contract is up, but I'm waiting for the 4g model of iPhone, hopefully on Verizon. I just bought the grey model on eBay as a replacement until I make up my mind on a new phone and carrier. Also, I asked Verizon about the mystery data charges and was assured that it was text messages. I get junk texts from time to time and every few months send or recieve one.

Not too bad...just one major complaint!,

This review is from: LG VX8350 Phone, Red (Verizon Wireless) (Wireless Phone)
I like my plain jane phones...nothing fancy and this certainly fits the bill. It does have a camera, which comes in handy, doesn't take any spectacular pictures though. It's tough..I work around horses, and this phone has been stepped on a few times and still works fine.
My main complaint? The stupid buttons on the front! I am always hitting them. If I put it in my pocket...beepbeep, and low and behold, I'm downloading something! Put it in a holster that hangs off my pocket..same thing, albeit, not as frequently. Purse? Same thing. They are a major PITA. It also has crappy ringtones to choose from. But ah well, not a biggie. For a reliable, tough phone? It does the job. But it does have an annoying factor!

junky plastic housing,
This review is from: LG VX8350 Phone, Red (Verizon Wireless) (Wireless Phone)
Phone was all right, but I was disappointed given general good reviews. Buttons on side were always being hit by accident (I have lots of video recordings of the inside of my purse) and the plastic housing near the hinge cracked after only two months. I wouldn't order another.

Plastic hinge has broken 3x,

This phone is a real annoyance, and I can't wait until my contract is up so I can ditch it for a phone that doesn't break or start beeping whenever I put it in my pocket due to the raised buttons on the front of it. The plastic hinge has broken 3x on me, and when I complained to Verizon, they pretty much said "Tough luck". I won't make the same mistake twice. From now on, I'm only buying things after reading reviews on them.

Average Phone,

i have owned this LG phone for a little over a year. it has the typical features you would find in most others in its price range. My complaint is that the casing is not very sturdy as the hinge broke after about a year of use.

My least favorite phone ever owned,

This review is from: LG VX8350 Phone, Red (Verizon Wireless) (Wireless Phone)
I purchased this phone as it was a never version of my old phone and I liked the red color. However, the 3 buttons on the front of the phone are slightly raised and overly sensitive. As a result I'm not able to leave the phone turned on when it is in my purse, briefcase, luggage, a pocket, etc. because the buttons are easily activated when bumped and before you know it, I'll have photos or videos of the inside of your pocket, briefcase, or bag. I'm constantly worried that I'm going to find a huge fee on my bill for accessing the internet or downloading something inadvertently when buttons are bumped by accident. If I could go back in time, I would've kept my old analog phone (VX 8300, I believe) or opted for the plain, no camera, phone model below this one. I cannot wait until my plan is expired and I can get rid of this phone, but unfortunately I have another 1.5 years to deal with it. My relatives and friends are always upset that I never keep my phone on, but the buttons are the only reason why I have to keep it off. Very frustrating.

Stay away,
This review is from: LG VX8350 Phone, Red (Verizon Wireless) (Wireless Phone)
My wife I both got the same phone a little over a year ago and shortly after getting it, the wiring on the inside must have gone bad, because I could no longer hear anyone through the ear piece and no one could hear me. I changed it out in December and got a refurbished model of the same phone. Today (another few months later) it started doing the same thing and now I have to go get another one (can't upgrade and get a new model till February). My wife is also having issues with hers, but hers are more superficial (her screen on the outside started to crack and she doesn't recall dropping it). I love Verizon and I am a LG fan, but I am going to tell everyone I see with this phone to be prepared for troubles. If you are shopping for a new phone, stay away from this model. I searched for the model on VerizonWireless.com and it doesn't look like they are selling these anymore and that's good for everyone else.

Everything I want in a phone, sort of...,

I have owned four of these phones so far. The first one worked well for six months, and then the LCD screen randomly went wild mid-text and wouldn't display anything other than random colors. Verizon replaced this one for me, and the new phone lasted three months, at which point the right hinge cracked, and later came apart completely. Again, Verizon replaced it for free. The third phone was ruined due to my own carelessness after 3 days of use, so I replaced it myself. I've had this final, fourth one for less than three months, and now its right hinge also broke.
I'm extremely disappointed in the LG VX8350's durability. I love all of its features, especially the ability to read texts from the front screen, but I won't be purchasing another one due to its tendency to break. Buyers beware.

Dependable, good reception, BEST I've ever owned,

Even though the listing says this phone is no longer available, I'm still using mine 2-1/2 years after purchase. It holds a battery charge 4 to 7 days with constant use. Gets reception in places no phone I've ever owned does. Lasted through being dropped from a rooftop, out of a car, played with and drooled on by a baby. The only thing I did was purchase the padded cover for it. That takes away from the nice red color but the padding has saved its life. I've been told it's working on obsolete technology, but the phone still works and I'm not looking forward to replacing it.

Camera broke,
This review is from: LG VX8350 Phone, Red (Verizon Wireless) (Wireless Phone)
I am a HUGE fan of LG. However I was not pleased with this phone. I had it for 2 weeks and the video camera wouldn't work. We got a new one. 2 weeks later it was having the same problems. They sent me yet another one. Again same problems. My husband went to a verizon store to take it back. They told him they could only give him the same phone again. Since this was our 3rd phone that was not happening. He did not leave the store until they gave him a different phone. I now have the VX 8700 and I love it
