The first good Genesis sim,

This review is from: LHX Attack Chopper (Video Game)
This is the first simulation video game I ever owned on platform or PC, so my opinion my be tainted...I remember playing the old "Falcon" PC game at a friends house in the late 80's and when I bought a genesis, I couldn't wait for a flying sim. F22 came first, but I could never find it anywhere (only saw it advertised). Then one day LHX appeared on the local shelves so I just bought it. I played this game daily for almost a year. The flight physics were no where near the games of today, but it was just plane fun. The missions took place in N. Africa (Lybia), SE Asia (Vietnam), and Europe (Poland and other former Soviet states). All of your opponents had Soviet made weapons, mostly anti aircraft, which were very hazardous to fly around in the more difficult game settings. The missions varied but could be considered as old standards; protecting your base,S&D, downed pilot rescue, POW rescue and even a little leadership assanation. You could fly the venerable AH64 (still in service today) or the secret LHX Attack Copter (which is really the Comanche). The LHX was fast, agile but had limited weapon stores (no matter how stealthy the manuel said the LHX was, you still had to deal with a huge number of lock-ons, which meant a lot of evasive flying). The Apache on the other hand was slower, less agile but had seriously huge weapon stores. The standard hide and peek only worked part of the time because the enemy AI was very good (for the time) and they actually would come around hills to target you. If your an old school fan of military flight sims, dust off that old Genesis and slide this one in for a ride.
