Air Lift's 1000 Series Rear Air Spring kit is the easy, inexpensive solution to vehicle "bottom out" events, sway and body roll and rough rides that are often the result of inadequate or uneven rear suspension. Consisting of two durable, easy to install and use pressurized cylinders, this kit provides up to 1,000 pounds of load leveling power on each rear wheel, ensuing a safe, smooth and level ride when you need it.

Air Lift 1000 Series Air Springs are pressurized air cylinders designed to provide up to 1,000 pounds of additional leveling capacity to heavily loaded vehicles. Designed to work in tandem, the two air springs included in Air Lift's 000 Series Rear Air Spring kit share the duty of supporting your vehicle's rear suspension. Installed within your vehicle's standard coil springs when deflated and malleable, these cylinders can be inflated to up to 50-psi (minimum of 5-psi to avoid chafing and coil pinch) via a series of included air line tubing located by the user at the most convenient spot along the vehicle chassis. Air lines may also be arranged in a dual routing configuration, allowing the the two air springs to be inflated to different pressures if necessary, at different spots selected along the car's chassis. Inflation can be done with any air compression tool capable of delivering the pressure, ranging from a dedicated onboard air compression system, to portable air compression tools built into jump-start tools or even a hand pump. The cylinders are constructed of rugged, durable materials and feature high burst strength.

Whether you are experiencing "bottoming out" during which your vehicle nearly scrapes the road and headlight aim is askew, vehicle swaying and rolling due to uneven suspension or a rough ride, the simple answer to the problem could be rear-end suspension adjustment. You can achieve this easily and inexpensively with Air Lift's 1000 Series Rear Air Spring kit.

Features

  • Fully adjustable rear air springs level your vehicle when towing or hauling a heavy load for a safe comfortable ride
  • Easily installs inside your vehicle's standard rear coil springs to eliminate sag and bottoming out
  • Rugged durable materials used ensure that air springs and all hardware will last indefinitely under proper conditions
  • Inflatable up to absolute max of 50-psi, with a minimum of 5-psi and provides up to 1,000 pounds of leveling capacity
  • Both air springs can be inflated to the same pressure via a single air line, or can be inflated to differing pressure when needed via a dual air line configuration

I have a 2012 RAM 1500 and tow 2 ATVs across the country to go riding with my son and my Dad. Most of the time, I have to put one ATV in the bed while I tow our kit and the second ATV. Us RAM owners know that this means -- my truck sags quite badly because of the coil rear springs. They're great for driving around town with an empty truck, but sag terribly when anything more than a pillow is put into the bed of the truck.

The Airlift 1000 air spring kit seemed to be a simple solution. However, I was nervous because there are numerous write ups on line that state you have to take off your springs to install the unit. That is simply not true any more. I called Airlift and they have changed their design so that the top 'puck' now fits between the coils.

Installation of this unit was very, very simple and incredibly fast. In fact, it took me longer to lower my spare tire to make room to work under the truck than to get the bags into the coils.

a) Removed my spare tire
b) Jacked up my truck so that my wheels were 6" off the ground.
c) Inserted 2 Jack stands under the frame as far to the rear as possible (just in front of the two link arm mounts)
d) Released pressure on the scissors jack
e) Let the axle "hang" (the tires will now be about 3" off the ground)
f) Put 2 Jack stands under the axle FOR SAFETY!
g) Took off my rear tires
h) Folded the two bags into 'hot dog buns'. Take the cap off the brass fitting, kneel on it, fold, kneel on it some more and replace cap (see Airlift's on line video)
i) Slid them into the coil springs. Expected a fight, but it was amazingly simple. Went in by hand with no need for tools.

Fantastic product and price!! Does exactly what I wanted it to do. It takes the slight squat out of back of the truck when the trailer is properly hitched, it levels up the trailer and stabilizes the ride, especially on rough roads.

2012 RAM 1500, Quad Cab, 2 wheel drive

I did the install differently from the instructions. I threaded the entire length of air line through the lower spring coil where I would later insert the flattened bag. Threaded the line out the top of the spring (later, on the other side, I threaded it down through the spring from the top). I slid the puck up the line and taped it to one of the upper coils temporarily. I then jacked the truck just to the point where the coils were open enough to insert the air bag and placed the safety stands and let the weight of the truck onto the stand. I left the floor jack in place as an extra safety device.

On the ground I put the kit clamp on the line and attached the end of the air line, from the spring coil opening, to the air bag and slide the clamp in place. I placed a small "C" clamp on the other end of the air line. I flattened the bag by folding the top and bottom toward the middle and kneeled on it to force the air out. I then tightened the "C" clamp on the other end of the line to keep the bag from refilling when I removed my knee.

I then slipped the top of the bag (with air line attached) through the lower spring opening and a little up the middle of the spring, pulled the tape off the puck and let it drop to the top of the bag. At this point a friend reached through the wheel well, over the top of the tire and pulled on the bag. I pushed from below and the bag slipped right in easily. No prying devices were needed. The "C" clamp was removed and the bag inflated...perfect!!

I had 5,000lb airlift bags on my 1500HD. Now, I have a 2011 Dodge Ram1500 Quad Cab Outdoorsman. As you might know the Dodge has a coil spring suspension versus the Chevy's leaf spring suspension. I was leary of these bags, as the capacity is only 1,000 lbs. But, they work great. They have just enough oomph to help level the truck out with my 7,000 travel trailer behind it. Installation was easy. I removed the bottom bolts of the shocks. Lifted the frame of the truck to let the axle "hang". Watch the brake lines though, they get taunt. A great tip installing them, heat the bags up with a propane salamander heater. It softened them up enough to make them easier to bend and move in between the springs. Great product. And, it's made in Michigan!

Purchased these prior to Thanksgiving and installed them myself right after the holiday.

Installation was pretty easy - took about 3 hours. These were installed on a 2010 Dodge Ram 1500.

I tow my business trailer about 4 days a week, which has a heavy tongue weight. Prior to putting in the airbags the truck would 'squat' quite a bit causing my headlights to blind the poor driver in front of me and certainly caused that light steering feeling.
These have been installed for about a month now, I keep the bags at 20 psi at all times - so far they keep their pressure with no leaks. 20 psi for me makes the truck feel good without the trailer and great with the trailer, plus I do not want to keep lowering/adding pressure on a daily basis.

The quality of components was very obvious upon opening the box and I look forward to many years of service.

Bare minimum - I am sure the drivers in front of me will be very glad they are on the truck!
