5.0 out of 5 stars "Cars" Lightning McQueen RC toy
Bought this and the Mater toy for my kids at Christmas. McQueen car is really really fast. Mater sometimes runs pretty slow. They are both on the same radio frequency which is not good because the kids really want to play with them at the same time. Response time for the RC is really pretty good. Otherwise the kids just love this toy.

Its unfortunate that the description of the product doesn't specify that the car is set to ALWAYS drive backwards and the only "control" is to push a button to make it move forward. Its also much smaller than what you would think (approximately 4"). This toy is much more complicated than a control that allows for various directions to be selected. My son is constantly frustrated at not being able to figure this out. I don't think this toy is fun for a child, and as an adult I certainly don't find it entertaining. So, I can't imagine any age in between thinking otherwise.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lightning McQueen Review, January 9, 2007
By
This review is from: TYCO R/C CARS LIGHTNING MCQUEEN Radio Control Vehicle (Toy)
I purchased the "Tow-Mater" and "Lightning McQueen" for my seven year old grandson for Christmas. I don't know who enjoyed it more, my grandson or my son-in-law! The only problem we found that the control for the "Tow-Mater" would also control the "Lightning McQueen" car. Which my son-in-law found amusing, but my grandson found frustrating, because Dad was controling his car too! These cars are definitely fast action. It might be hard for younger children to control the cars. I will definitely add more of the "Cars" radio controlled vehicles to my grandson's,(& son-in-law's) collection.

3.0 out of 5 stars Difficult to control, January 19, 2007
This review is from: TYCO R/C CARS LIGHTNING MCQUEEN Radio Control Vehicle (Toy)
I bought this car for my 3 year old because it specified easy control, yet he prefers his older brother's multi-buttoned monster truck. The car goes unnoticed on the playground. Although it is cute and small its difficult to get the hang of, even for an adult. Batteries seem to wear out very fast, too.

The car is designed to run in reverse. It will only go forward if the button on the control is pressed continuously. It requires a lot of pressure and was difficult for my grandson to operate. It is also pricey for what it does.

I got my grandson the wrong "Lightning McQueen" and even thought this came after the holiday, he says it's his favorite present from Santa. It has no educational value, except hand to eye coordination. It's just fun.
I am writing this review in August and the car still works.

I got this as a gift for my friend's son who is 4, my son is 3 and her daughter is 2- all three of them were in heaven with this toy! I never did figure out how the control worked but they sure didn't care. They were able to play with it as well as us adults making an attempt. The battery door kept popping open on Lightning, I am not sure if he came that way or the kids did it, either way that seemed a bit shotty. We had to actually hide it though, the kids loved it so much!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad for the money, January 16, 2007
This review is from: TYCO R/C CARS LIGHTNING MCQUEEN Radio Control Vehicle (Toy)
This is not a bad radio remote for the money. I am a little disappointed that you cannot make this car stop. The remote programming is limited as the only thing you can do is touch the button. The car automatically goes in reverse to the right. When you touch the button, the car goes forward. So if you want to change directions, it takes a series of moves. Overall, it is a good model of Lightning, the car moves quickly, and it appears to be durable.

Who would sell an r/c toy car that runs backwards continuously? It was a big disappointment for my granddaughter. Tyco's Lighting McQueen was greeted with glee when it was unwrapped, and found its way to the trash with the day's wrapping paper. POS.
