Socratic rendition of a futuristic opera,
By KaTHerine Jenkins (Tallahassee, FL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: I LIKE YOU A LOT (Audio CD)
This album transcends modern musical ways of thinking. It encompasses the glimmering significance of every musical genre, becoming itself purely genreless. With the combination of a sexy trumpet dancing casually and sometimes forcefully in the foreground, an elegant violin, a femininly shaped bass, and a defeated romantic guitar player, this arrangement of ballads and blistering harmonics is a must for any jazz, folk, blues, rockabilly, or classical enthusiast. Imagine sashaying through a ballroom lit with blue, cupping a golden glass of champagne, meeting the intoxicating charismas of cowboys, and slow dancing with Django Reinhardt and you will still have no idea of the fantastical world that these songs will send your mind and body to.

A Different World,
By Randy Furber (Kirkland, WA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: I LIKE YOU A LOT (Audio CD)
I don't know who these guys are (a friend gave me the CD for Christmas) but after a few casual listens here and there I put this disc on the other day and I can't get it off of my player! These tunes creep under your skin. I love the rootsy vibe mingled with the punky passion and realness. Now I understand my friend's need to evangalize for this band. It's the best stuff I've heard in a long time.

As True And Unique As An Artisanal Cheese,
By A Customer
This review is from: I LIKE YOU A LOT (Audio CD)
As individuals, we are rightly picky about our music preferences. But there is an essential quality to HFQ's music which defies traditional description. Whatever you think you might not like about HFQ -- don't. Try it. 'I Like You A Lot', and all of HFQ's music, delivers a flavor you know yet with an ingredient you can't quite name, but you just have to have more. This is real music, second only to hearing HFQ 'live'.
