About the Author

"Ashok Kumar Harnal is currently Additional Director General of the Department of Defence Estates. In his present position, he, in association with National Informatics Center, Chennai, has developed a GIS-based land record management system for defence. He is also a member of the Core Technical Advisory Group under the Centrally-sponsored scheme of National Land Records Modernization Programme (NLRMP). He made significant contributions to promoting digital mapping in the survey of India in the 1990s. Further, as a member of National Committee constituted in 1991 by the Department of Science and Technology, he helped formulate National Standard Exchange Format for Digital Vector Data. He has also been a professor of Computers & MIS at the National Institute of Financial Management from 2000 till 2004. An electrical engineer from IIT Delhi, Ashok has also authored a book, Computer Game Programming. "
