Disappointed. I had high hopes.
on September 2, 2008
Having used LipInk lip color for a couple of weeks, I decided to take a chance on the eyeliner. My lip color definately has the staying power I had hoped for and believed that the eyeliner would have the same. Unfortunately, I have been disappointed so far. The first time I applied it, I was a little troubled by how difficult it seemed to be to put on. I followed the directions - clean face, I used LipInk Off to make sure my eyes were pristine, I shook the tube till the ball inside moved freely, I withdrew the wand and waited 10 seconds as instructed, and then applied in one direction. I assumed that since it had been sometime since I had used a liquid liner I would have difficulty getting the line right, but that was not the problem. I had to re-dip the applicator several times to get enough liner to do one eye. Maybe it was because the applicator was new, but it seemed a little strange that it seemed to have trouble holding enough product to line one lid. Within just a couple of hours, it had started to disappear. I chalked this up to my lack of familiarity with the product.
I have now used the product everyday for six days and the staying power has only slightly improved and the application issue has not improved at all. I had hoped to be able to put a small line right at the base of my upper lashes to provide a little volume, but to get it to last for more than a couple of hours, I have to put on more than I would like. Keep in mind, I work in an indoor, corporate environment and I keep my home cool so sweating is not really an issue. The only time I really get in any heat is walking from my car to the office (my garage is attached). I did sweat one time with it on when I was outside for about 15 minutes (in South Texas in August that is an eternity) and it did not run or leave me with black circles. It seems mostly to flake a little at a time until it flakes away. With my very fair skin, these flakes are unsightly and troublesome.
Just to be certain it was the eyeliner, I tried a day without mascara. The flaking continued so I am now sure it is the eyeliner. Today I tried putting a little liquid sealer over top that is supposed to preserve makeup and so far so good. It is unfortunate that I paid so much for a product that requires a second expensive product to do the job it should be able to do alone.
All-in-all, it performs as well as any liquid I have ever used. But there was a reason I really did not use liquid very much and have mostly stuck with shadow-liner. It did not live up to my hopes and does not perform as well as the lip color in this line.
