Book Description

A young runaway takes refuge in a makeshift shack under the Hollywood Freeway, forcing the autistic woman in it to find milk for her sickly newborn – a search that ultimately ends in tragedy when the woman is run down by a hit-and-run driver after a violent confrontation with several teenagers. When one of those teenagers, seventeen-year-old Karen Devane, is implicated in the woman’s homicide, the tabloids are quick to exploit the tragedy, thanks to Karen’s recent antics as a spoiled Tinseltown “celebrat” riding on the coattails of her famous grandmother, the legendary Kate Stanton. Complicating matters is the dead woman’s daughter, who’s determined that Karen be held accountable for her mother’s death, even after the charges against Karen are dropped. With tensions between Karen and her family near breaking point and the paparazzi relentlessly hounding her every move, Karen makes a startling discovery which finally puts her on the road to redemption – and links the dead woman to her beloved grandmother.

Karen’s discovery raises a host of troubling questions for Kate, forcing her to revisit the horrors of her past in search of answers. But Kate soon realizes that some questions are better left unasked after a seemingly random shooting leaves her granddaughter fighting for her life and Kate scrambling to stay one step ahead of a killer who’s determined to end her life in order to save his own.

In this sweeping murder mystery based on the novella FORBIDDEN, past mistakes are pitted against bittersweet revenge and family secrets as old as Hollywood and Hitler threaten to destroy one family tainted by a poisonous legacy none of them can ever hope to escape.

About the Author

By the time Marta Tandori reached fifth grade, she was an avid reader and writer with a stack of short stories collecting dust in a box under her bed but it wasn’t until she began studying acting in her early twenties at the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York that Marta realized acting wasn’t really her passion – writing fiction was. What followed was years of writing workshops as well as correspondence courses in writing for children through the Institute of Children’s Literature in Connecticut. She credits the award winning author, Troon Harrison, as the instructor who helped her find her literary voice. Marta’s first work of juvenile fiction, BEING SAM, NO MATTER WHAT was published in 2005, followed by EVERY WHICH WAY BUT KUKU! in 2006. With her more recent endeavors, Marta has shifted her writing focus to “women’s suspense”, a genre she fondly describes as having “strong female protagonists with closets full of nasty skeletons and the odd murder or two to complicate their already complicated lives”. 2.0 out of 5 stars What is the point of this story? April 24, 2013

TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE
What is this about? I am 44% in and I have read about Nazis, wife abusers, child murderers, rapists, incest, sadists and masochists. There are 60's folk singers, famous film directors, and actresses, wealthy, spoiled, druggie teens and mentally challenged homeless people. It seems to be a biographical family saga spanning more than 60 years. But because there are so many characters and such a long time period, there is no real character development. There are snipets of deeds done and then the character is dead or it is years later. And the author just keeps introducing new characters.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat. I don't normally read more than 30 minutes or so at a time. I started reading this book though and before I knew it two hours had slipped by. I just couldn't put it down. This book has great intensity that will leave you wanting more. An excellent read, Tandori is a highly imaginative author.

2.0 out of 5 stars Did Not Read Past Page 3 May 26, 2013

In reviews it sounded like it would be a good mystery. What it failed to tell was the amount of vulgar language that accompanied it. I would not recommend it for this reason.

Too Little, Too Late was way more than I expected. It grabbed my interest from the first chapter and didn't disappoint. Twists and turns, mystery and more fill the pages. It was a great read and I look forward to reading more from this author!

4.0 out of 5 stars Exciting thriller May 5, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A very intriguing novel that has a bit of everything- from Nazi experiments to old Hollywood. I enjoyed the extensive details and the seemingly dead end plots leading to a bang up conclusion.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bamm! A lot to absorb! April 23, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Most true artists compose a breath taking sketch before completing their masterpiece. In some ways, that is what the author has done with “Too Little, Too Late”, this fantastic work is the expanded story taken from the novella, “Forbidden”. In the novella, you have all these mind blowing scenes, one right after the other. Hard to catch your breath, leaving you wondering how this scene came to be and who is who. In “Too Little, Too Late”, you have the same fantastic scenes, but now you know how they got to that point, who the players are, why it is happening, a somewhat expanded description of the event and the consequences of that event. Kate Stanton becomes more than a victim, she is a survivor. You learn the truth about her history, and the legacy that consumers her. Kate is brutally raped, and this act is secretly witnessed. This event has engulfed the life of the witness so much that everything this person does is ruled by that one act. Can it be true that this person has the capability of becoming even more evil than the rapist himself? It is for you to decide, can you handle the secrets of Kate and the silent witness? Does everyone get what they deserve or was it truly too little too late? It is a wild ride worth taking. Read on in the Kate Stanton mystery series, “No Hard Feelings”

4.0 out of 5 stars Intriguing Story July 16, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Kate Stanton remembers all too clearly about death and tragedy. Kate was raped by her own father then had his child Sonja. Sonja is killed in an explosion but Kate has never forgotten. Flash forward years later, a homeless woman carries around a necklace like it's security blanket. Liz Farrell is searching for her homeless mother Maria and not having any luck finding her. Kate Stanton's granddaughter Karen Devane goes to Kate's home to drop off items only to witness a homeless woman beating on her grandmother's mailbox. Then Karen and her friends witness this same woman be hit by a car. Karen is horror struck by what's happened yet no one believes her. What do all of these people have in common? Your answers await you in Too Little, Too Late.

I found this book to be fascinating with switching from past to the present so seamlessly. The characters are rich, bold, complex, and interesting. The story is character driven and complex. It's also page turner for me too. I'm definitely looking forward to reading more books like this.

More About the Author

Marta Tandori had always been an avid reader but it wasn't until she began studying acting in her early twenties at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York that she realized acting wasn't really her passion - writing fiction was. Thanks to an overly zealous addiction in her youth to all things Nancy Drew and Trixie Belden, Marta fell in love with mysteries and it's hardly a surprise that she chose to write in the same genre! She's the author of the Kate Stanton Mystery Series as well as several other standalone mysteries.
