Editorial Reviews

Irish-born folk singer Danny O’Flaherty, whose landmark O’Flaherty’s Irish Channel Pub was for 15 years a cultural icon in New Orleans’ French Quarter. After hurricane Katrina destroyed the pub, his home and possessions, O’Flaherty fled to Texas and now tours the country, allowing audiences nationally to savor the numerous Irish folk songs he heard and learned in his home village in Connemara, Ireland. Danny’s expressive vocals and convincing delivery give a sincere and heart-felt immediacy to his ballads and tales. His prowess on 6 or 12-string guitars, accordion, harmonica, tin whistle, or flute is simply dazzling. Danny has been wowing audiences since first landing on these shores in the early 1970's, highlights including having played for President Reagan’s Inaugural Ball and for Pope John Paul II at the National Cathedral. In addition to his now-constant touring, Danny includes benefit performances for Irish cultural awareness events and leads regular tours of Ireland.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful. A true classic. Not to be missed. March 20, 2009
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I bought the audiocasette version of this tape over twenty years ago after being entertained by The Celtic Folk at the old Ryan's Irish Pub which used to be located on Bourbon Street in New Orleans(hence the name on the tape). Years later my husband and I would listen to it on the audiocasette tape player of our old Ford Escort. When this car died and the car we bought only possessed a CD player I felt it was time to see if a CD version was now in existance. Much to my delight Amazon carried it. So now I could once again delight in classic Irish songs, some happy, some sad, often thoughtful, always entertaining. This by far is the one of the best. From the sad Green Fields of France to the lively Voyage of the Asgard II and the rousing Wild Rover to the engaging Saturday Night in Dublin Town this is quite a great tape! I found it too late for St Patricks Day this year but I will enjoy it through the year and ESPECIALLY next St Patricks Day! Erin Go Braugh!

4.0 out of 5 stars A good cd from an up and coming band March 13, 2007
Format:Audio CD
This group sounds great and performs songs that aren't on every Irish cd, like Danny Boy(not that there is anything wrong with the song). Delivery was quick and on time.
