What an Emotional Show!!,
By
This review is from: LIVE in Slow Motion (DVD)
I already had and love "Live at the Point" and was quite surprised that there was no concert DVD for "A New Day at Midnight" so I was more than a little eager to get my hands on this DVD. Most of the songs are from his latest album "Life in Slow Motion" with a couple of older songs thrown in. It is so enjoyable to watch Gray perform these songs because he completely loses himself in each song. He also does longer versions of his great songs like "Nightblindness" and "Lately" that are a must to see. There are a couple songs that were edited from the show that were on the album such as "From Here You Can Almost See the Sea" and he does certain classics that were already on "Live at the Point". I would love to hear his other songs performed live than to see those again. Maybe in the future the marketing people will keep that in mind. The disc also has three great videos and a 10 minute "making of" video that for me is WAY too short. It's a smaller cut of the video that's already on the other side of his deluxe studio album. After such a great and long add on from "Live at the Point" you would think the people who put this together would know not to give us less that what has been given before. I give this 5 stars because what you get is truely amazing and a must to own. David Gray is a true global treasure to be cherished. The marketing people, on the other hand, need to use more of the space a DVD gives to give those of us who love David Gray more to tide us over until his next DVD. I hope this helped:)

This may be the best DVD live concert of 2006! I can't tell you how exceptional the sound and picture quality of this product is...stupendous!
Even if you are currently not a David Gray fan....have a listen to "You're The One I Love" or "Hospital Food" and you will quickly recognize greatness in all its glory! This performer gives every song exquisite care and the result is excellence in every detail. I can't recommend this show enough! Run out and buy it! You will not be disappointed!

This is the best you are going to get listening to him on your couch. The sound is great, the camera work is excellent, and most of the songs are new (which could make you swing one way or the other). I'd like to see some older stuff but he is a very talened performer regardless. Bottomline- if you like him, you will like this.

Every once and a while we are blessed with an incredible talent. David Gray is that blessing. No one out there compares to what he does. His voice is perfect, his lyrics are perfect, his music is perfect and his goofy head wobble is strangely cool. You won't be disappointed in this DVD if you like REAL music.

David Gray once again displays true artistry in his newest DVD, "Live in Slow Motion". The DVD has a wonderful setlist of 19 songs, many being from the "Life in Slow Motion" CD but he also taps into the past with several of his older songs as well. The concert was filmed in London during the Christmas season and is one that is filled with beautiful remditions of his songs. What is great about this DVD is it doesn't have all the angle shots and moving around of the camara like his previous DVD "At the Point" did to make one kind of dizzy. The DVD also comes with extras, such as the making of "Live in Slow Motion" plus a couple of videos from "Life in Slow Motion". The DVD is PAL so can only be played on region free DVD players or a PAL system. The DVD also mentions that it can also be played on a Playstation 2 unit. Overall, this a must for any fan of David Gray. I hope that a Region 1 DVD will come out soon so everyone can enjoy this wonderful show.

Gray Matters,

A strong setlist from David Gray at this London show ensures that the two hours plus running time drifts by fairly quickly, however even with bit of banter between songs Gray fails to excite on a personal level. Not to worry. New tracks from Life In Slow Motion, including The One I Love, Nos Da Cariad and Lately make the first half of the show a roaring success, before Gray dips into the multimillion selling White Ladder archive for This Year's Love, Silver Lining and Babylon. A top notch band ensure that even the songs from the comparatively unloved A New Day At Midnight album sound powerful and emotionally charged. Nice one, wobbly head. Also included is a featurette on the making of Live In Slow Motion (directed by U2 affiliate Hamish Hamilton) as well as videos for Life In Slow Motion singles.
