5.0 out of 5 stars Timeless fun! July 7, 2005
I am currently 18 years old, and my best friend bought this game when I was 9. We played this game together for years, not knowing it was supposed to be teaching us patterns and stuff...

Years later I took an algebra class *honors* and thought the class was easy. I didn't know why it was so simple for me until I started to play it again at the age of 16. I noticed that I was doing exactly the same thing in the game as I was doing in my homework-and it was fun.

I strongly recommend this CD-ROM to any parent who wants their children to be smart in math. Kids don't even know they are doing algebra, even a 9 year old can do high school work...

5.0 out of 5 stars Stealth education that's fun for all ages January 17, 2009
This, the first of the Zoombinis series from Bröderbund, is an inspired piece of work. In the course of guiding 256 Zoombinis (sixteen at a time) on a trek to their new home, through obstacles such as the Allergic Cliffs, Who's Bayou, the Mudball Wall and the Bubble-Wonder Abyss, your kids (and you) will meet such characters as Arno the Almost Omnivorous Pizza Troll and the odious Fleens. You'll also solve puzzles including classification by logical deduction, combinatorics, pattern analysis, and even learn to analyze elementary programming problems. You'll buy it for your kids, but you'll find it surprisingly compelling yourself if you like to solve increasingly difficult puzzles.

"Fleens? You're not fleens! ...Well, whatever you are -- make me a pizza!"

4.0 out of 5 stars Definitely Works with Windows 7! February 18, 2015

I used to play this game as a kid and got the sentimental craving to play it again. My original Windows 95 Broderbrund CD didn't work (even in compatibility mode), so I ordered this to try running it on my Windows 7 machine. It works! I haven't tried it yet, but I imagine it would work with Windows 8 as well, since that's basically the same OS but with a fancier UI for the main menu.

I'm not giving it a 5-star review because there is some audio doubling between levels and the mouse does sometimes disappear when you're looking at the map, but I can play and save the game, so that's good enough for me!

5.0 out of 5 stars Same great old game and works on Windows 7 July 4, 2013

My kids loved this game growing up and were getting nostalgic for it recently. We found the old CD of the version we had had but it was a no-go running on it on Windows 7. This version installed an ran fine on Windows 7.

For my money, it's still the best logical puzzle game for kids 5-8.
