Charlie Nitric is an eclectic writer, whose stories will keep you entertained for hours. In his debut collection of shorts, he takes the reader on a roller coaster of hilarious life experiences.
Still very much a kid at heart, Charlie is constantly observing the world around him. Then, with the incredible imagination of a child, he plays with those experiences until the unimaginable becomes the imaginable for his readers.
Nitric presents an assorted array of eighteen colorful stories that will undoubtedly leave you wanting more. He entertains his readers with his humorous and original storytelling ability. From a good, hearty laughing fest to crying out in anticipation, readers can’t help but become completely mesmerized with whatever he puts before them.
Rich in excitement, each short story is jam-packed with entertainment that will keep you highly amused and eager to jump into the next. “LOL” is the kind of reading that forces laughter to abruptly escape your throat without warning. Nitric’s debut is filled with writing that is astonishingly relatable (even when it is totally and completely implausible). The author always manages to illicit some emotion or another out of his readers. Whether that emotion is inspiration, frustration, belly-busting laughter, or simply joy, Nitric’s constant goal is to have his readers feel each scene right along with him.
He writes “Strive each day towards your own joy,” encouraging readers to be grateful each day for what they have in their lives. Nitric’s writing is proof that if you take in all the experiences around you and simply let yourself smile about them, life truly is an enjoyable ride. Often times, the cruise is hilarious.

A deliriously decadent collection of short stories many people will easily relate to, Charlie provides a smooth double-dose of the best medicine there is; laughter. His writing style is real. However, genuine is a better description. I found myself grinning from ear-to-ear and guffawing most ridiculously while reading the kissing story. I shall say no more as you must read it for yourself to enjoy the full effect; hilarity at its finest!
Still LOLing!! This is a book even for those with a funny-bone deficiency. Thank you for allowing us to laugh "with" you. Just what the doctor ordered!
This book is a collection of short comical stories. I will give you an example of one. A Iowa country boy is in New York City. He is at a bus stop and sees a famous super model waiting with paparazzi all around. He looks her up and down and is smitten. He notices all the things that she has that the girls in his home town don't have. He sees that she is looking him over too and decides that she wants him. She walks away, he follows her. While he is following he witness a mugging, gets hit by a car and all sorts of trouble. The whole time she keeps looking back and he keeps following. By the end of the story he has talked himself into thinking, she loves him and wants the Iowa boy stud and follows her to an alley. He gets the crap kicked out of him and still he believes she is his girlfriend. The country boy gets patched up and she leaves him. He is back in Iowa talking while milking the cow, like he is just waiting for the super model to show up in the barn. Then he tells the cow how she is doing good these days. She had started a new reality TV show that makes fun of idiots on the street. And then you know for sure, he will show up on that show! There are 18 of these short cute stories in this collection.
LOL is a cute collection of stories. Some are more corny than others. Some are laugh out loud funny, others are cute and silly. It is a easy read. For someone that just needs a laugh and nothing serious. This would be the book for you, if that is what you are looking for. Worth the read but not a serious read by any means. if you want a serious story, this is NOT it! Older young adults would be OK reading this. I would approve of 16 and up.
Seriously, how old is this writer? My guess is recently pubescent. These stories are full of references to bodily functions and physical desires - butts, kissing, and pooping pants. Perhaps for 12 year old boys, but not for grown-ups.
If you ever had a little sister or girlfriend/wife who read those little columns of blush inducing stories, laughing so hard you cried, imagine a masculine version. A more funny masculine version, because this guy is talking about himself! As an observer and writer myself True Monsters (The Shepherds Wolf), I delight in the details that people share, and you will too! Buy this book! In short bursts or long lines, it is definitely worth the price.
LOL is a collection of eighteen short stories about the author's observations of life, especially romance and differences between men and women. The book is written from the first person perspective and reads in an almost autobiographical fashion. I'd like to briefly recap some of the shorts in the book. It opens with Trouser Mouse, an embarrassing tale that happened to the author on an airplane. Another story worth mentioning is Goddess 69, probably my favorite, about an email that gives the author delusions of studly grandeur but ends up to be a 1-800 number of fantasy. Then there is The Precious Pulpit which delves into some of the personality differences between men and women. Amber Alert is a rant about farmers who post online when their livestock go missing. Charlie comments on goose dropping problems in Bulls Eye. Butt Out lists some of the funny sayings we all hear while growing up. And then there is Divorce Letter, a letter filled with accolades about wife then ends with pot-shots about gravity and her figure. Lastly, I'd like to mention French Etiquette, a short that reads like an advice column about kissing a woman for the first time. This is something that really took me out of my reading comfort zone. I never read a comedy piece in my life. My tastes range, but seem to keep coming back to horror, thrillers, and mysteries. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised. Charlie's writing is clear, unpretentious, and humorous. He almost reminds me of a Seinfeld in a way. There are many also similarities with Women from Venus and Men from Mars and Defending the Caveman, a show created by comedian Rob Becker . Through some of the stories I could not help but wonder if he is a "play-a" in real life. Divorce Letter seems to suggest he not married and on the prowl.... If this is true, good luck! He also has the ability to laugh at himself and his attempts to hook up with the female persuasion, especially in Trouser Mouse and Goddess 69. I can see Charlie one day writing an advice column for men in a male magazine or even hosting a radio show on relationships. Very funny stuff! 5/5 stars.Read more ›
