You've seen them on the Internet - cute pictures with zany captions. Well, someone has finally collected them into a book. This book is chockfull of such pictures (pictures of dogs) and captions, many of them very funny. My five-year-old picked this book out for herself, and loved it. She loved paging through all of the pictures, with me reading the captions to her. I must say, we both had a great time!

Cute Concept Book will appeal to younger dog lovers. About 180 photos of dogs with captions in "slang language." Many are from Flickr's Creative Commons-licensed content. A fun book to breeze through and pass on to a friend. As one of the featured photographers in San Luis Obispo County California Nature Photographers -- Their Works and Techniques this book uses one of my photos of a dog surfing (p. 58).

I like LOL dogs and cats. I get the email feed daily and have msot of the books. But this book is a cheat. The cutest dog is the one on the cover. All of the captions were written by one person and are mind-mumbingly repetitive. Check it out in your local brick-and-mortar store if you must, but don't waste money buying.

When I first became acquainted with LOL Dogs, I don't think I really got the concept. Pictures of dogs, many wearing costumes, with captions that were, at best, illiterate. Some of the misspellings so complete that I never did figure out what the dog was supposed to be thinking (or saying). But that was then, and this is...well, you know.

Our pets give us some hilarious photo opportunities. No question. I've got a cat that you would think was possessed every time he yawns. Boris the Bad not only looks ferocious, he looks absolutely insane. I am clearly not the only person in the world with such a pet, as is evidenced within the pages of LOL Dogs. Thanks to the internet, people no longer have to appreciate their dogs' or cats' embarrassing moments alone--we can share them, worldwide, with others. I'm not convinced my furry companions don't use the computer when I'm asleep, so it shouldn't come as a surprise if one of them slits my throat as I slumber for humiliating him or her online.

Seeing the expressions on many of the dogs in LOL Dogs, we may not be surprised if they have similar thoughts about their humans. For whatever reason, wet dogs are particularly funny, and the added captions are usually very fitting or hilarious. Also, dogs that are threatening the lives of their photographers are especially entertaining -- there are two, a vampire dog and what can best be described as a devil dog, that I found hysterical.

There are also lessons to be learned from LOL Dogs. The one that springs to mind is that no matter how adorable you think your dog looks in a dress, sweater, or t-shirt, take a look at another dog dressed similarly and you'll find it not only not adorable, but also absurd.

If you are a fan of [...] and the books that came from it this book may seem like "not quite on target". I love all animals so it isn't just a dog vs. cat thing but many of the captions don't seem quite as funny although the photos alone are worth the price of the book.
