Surprisingly few pressed makeup palettes contain wearable matte shadows--although I love brands like Urban Decay, all their palettes tend to contain shimmery or glittery eyeshadows. Mattes seem to be a little harder to pull off that shimmery shadows--cheaply made mattes tend to be chalky or poorly pigmented. These shadows, on the other hand, are richly pigmented, long-lasting, easy to blend, and very much wearable.

This palette contains a versatile array of 16 shadows--7 matte, 9 shimmery; they are as follows:
White: a pure white eyeshadow with subtle glitter (shimmery)
Cream: a more natural, skin-toned highlighter (matte)
Taupe: a light brown (matte)
Lt. Pink: a pale, rose-toned pink (matte)
Mauve: a mauve taupe; looks brown in the palette, but has purple undertones (matte)
Sable: a richly saturated earth-toned brown (matte)
Espresso: a veeryy dark brown, almost indistinguishable from black except that it has brown undertones (matte)
Black: a nicely pigmented black, with grey undertones (matte)
Nude: a lovely white-gold shimmer (shimmery)
Champagne: a slightly darker, pinker shimmer (shimmery)
Gold: a rich copper shimmer (shimmery)
Lt. Bronze: similar to champagne, but slightly darker with less glitter (shimmery)
Pewter: a deep greyish-brown (shimmery)
Garnet: a rosey, dark brown (shimmery)
Deep Purple: an almost black shimmer with deep purple undertones (shimmery)
Slate: a deep bluish grey (shimmery)

This makes for the PERFECT everyday/nude palette, with enough gorgeous shimmery shadows to pull off more than a few dramatic looks. The shadows are long-lasting enough on their own, but the included primer really makes these shadows stand out. Overall, it's a must-have makeup set!

(the palette itself is very slim and compact, measuring at 7.5" by 3" by 3/8". Each shadow measures about 3/4 square inch. The included primer is .19 oz.)

I held off buying this palette for a while because I already love my UD Naked palette and have several other neutral palettes (e.g., Tarte Call of the Wild Too, Faced Natural at Night, The Balm Nude Tude and several Urban Decay palettes with neutral shades). However, Ulta had a gift set with this palette so I grabbed it with a 20% off coupon that worked on Prestige Cosmetics a few months ago. I think this palette is great! I love it almost as much as UD Naked 1. I will say that it is in my top 3 palettes (my favorites are UD Naked 1, Smashbox Wondervision Mega Palette and Lorac Pro). In this review, I will point out some comaprisons between this palette and my favorite neutral palette, UD Naked 1.

- This palette has more colors but the shadows themselves are smaller. With the UD palette, overall you get more product.
- This palette is $10 cheaper than the UD Naked palettes. Note however that all 3 Naked palettes come with brushes whereas Lorac PRO does not include a brush. Since I am comparing Naked 1 only, the brush in UD Naked 1 is a flat shader brush. There is no fluffy crease brush and you still need a blending brush and pencil brush. Anyway, while the included shader brush is a good brush, but it isn't my favorite (I prefer my MAC 239 or my Sigma E55 and only use the UD brush when my other flat shader brushes are dirty). And I'm sure you own brushes if you are into high end eyeshadow. So, to me, the lack of a brush isn't a deal breaker.
- The colors are more diverse. You get a beautiful Garnet color in this palette, for example.
- The textures in this palette are more diverse. You get a lot of mattes (this palette is half mattes, whereas UD Naked 1 only has 2 mattes).

I have been using this palette for about 9 months. I agree with all the positvie comments. There was a learning curve for this shadow. Because the colors are so saturated with pigment, you must DAB your brush lightly onto the shadow then apply in a dabbing and very light,short-stroking motion onto the eye.I start using a somewhat fluffy angle brush, like Bdellium Tools full ,sharp-angled eye contour 766 from Amazon, for the over-all base color (I like the mauve), then layer, using the same technique, with other desired colors. If I think I've gotten too much on my brush, I will dab the brush onto the back of my hand ever so lightly to remove some of the powder. I will then dip the brush into the powder left on my hand if more is needed. Try mixing colors. Once you are used to this technique, application is quick and easy. The result is a long-lasting professional finish for smokey eye or daytime eye.I follow up with a fixing spray like Urban Decay All-Nighter.The palette itself is very slim and light, making it perfect for travel. My dream is for Lorac to design another palette with colors added for spring like bright blue, green and purple.

Throughout the Christmas season and a few months after this palette was sold out everywhere. Finally Amazon got it (through Dermstore) and I quickly ordered it. And bonus, I even had an Amazon gift card to use. The Dermstore shipped fast and even included a free sample of an wonderful exfoliating face scrub.
The Pro Palette is now something I use nearly every day I go with a neutral look. I love color, but some day I like to keep it soft. The color payoff is top notch as is the feel and blendability. And to have 8 matte shades in colors that are useable is incredible.
Yes, they are very powdery, but most mattes are. And as a makeup artist I have learned the trick with matte shades is to pat the brush into the product and avoid rubbing. Both in picking up product and when applying. This decreases wasted product as well as fallout.
And I highly advise trying the shimmer wet. I use MAC Fix + and spray it directly onto my brush then dip the brush into the shadow and pat it onto my lid. The look is a stunning metallic, bold look!
