5.0 out of 5 stars Aaliyah
I think that every one should rate this a Five because it is the best thing since hot water and plus what better way o keep Aaliyah in your memories than to have a book about nothing but her short beautiful treasured and idolized life????

1.0 out of 5 stars Losing Aaliyah
I am a big fan of Aaliyah and this is a poor video prepared by folks who evidently don't share the same opinion of her. First of all, the video looks like a home video, certainly not of a professional quality. Its definitely not worth the money. I am a big fan of Aaliyah and this is a poor video prepared by folks who evidently don't share the same opinion of her. First of all, the video looks like a home video, certainly not of a professional quality. Its definitely not worth the money. Secondly, the narrator stated that the name of Aaliyah's first single on her self-titled album was Revolution. (It's "We Need A Resolution")I found this offensive. There were several mistakes like this. They solicited people on the street who obviously were not fans or who were not familar with her. If the video was $5.00, you could waste your money. Obviously, the makers of this are trying to make money off the grief of Aaliyah's fans, so I don't recommend that you buy. Aaliyah's continues to have a hugh fan base who will spend money to have something to which to remember her. I would not make the makers rich off of this video.

1.0 out of 5 stars This is SOOOO low budget and ridiculous!, December 17, 2001

Words cannot express the anger I felt as I watched this ridiculous, low-budget excuse for a tribute video. There is NO redeeming quality to this video...PERIOD! The people who made this should feel ashamed, and embarrassed. In addition, the people who they interviewed should feel embarrassed as well. They picked the most ignorant people. People who weren't even familiar with Aaliyah's work. The narrator even mis-titled Aaliyah's first single from her new album as "Revolution." In addition to this, he stated that her new upcoming movie was to be "Misstress of the Damned"! This video was appalling and outraging. I was upset that I have viewed it and I will NEVER speak of it again.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money, December 10, 2001

I was very disappointed with my purchase. Just as others have said the video is not professional, not put together well at all and the profanity i can't even comment on that. Truth be told this is not a tribute to a beautiful person, it's an insult. Some parts of the video had poor sound as well as picture quality. I can't believe Amazon is standing behind this product and is selling it to their customers just to make a buck. Then they have a no return policy on something as thrashy as this.

2.0 out of 5 stars IM FURIOUS!!, October 28, 2002

This review is from: LOSING AALIYAH - Format: [DVD Movie] (DVD)
First I would like to say, I honestly feel that I am Aaliyah's #1 fan or very near to it. I was expecting a lot more. The cover is VERY misleading. First of all, it sounds as if they are calling Aaliyah "Eliyah". They can't even pronounce her name correctly. Then, they play a bunch of music... why not even ONE Aaliyah song? They refer to Damon Dash, her boyfriend of only about ONE year as Damion Dash, her boyfriend of a very long time. They called Queen of the Damned "Mistress of the Damned"!! They said that her first single from her self titled album was called, "Revolution". The name of that song was "We Need A Resolution". She never even had a song called Revolution!! They said her name is Swaheli when it is ARABIC!! The so called "fans" they interviewed were mostly air heads that were smiling not knowing what they were talking about and you could tell they really didnt know much about Aaliyah, they were just camera happy! No interviews with Anyone who truly knew her and no real biographical information. I think if some of us REAL fans got together... we could do a 100,000,000 times better job. I cant even find their website. I want to complain!! Shame on them just trying to make money off her death! The only reason that I even gave it 2 stars is because it showed some of her funeral and the plain crash site... and that really affected me.. other than that... TERRIBLE!!

I absolutely love Aaliyah just like many of you out there but I found this DVD to be a waste of money. This DVD is how others view her life and death. There are a few pictures of Aaliyah on this DVD but hardly.

2.0 out of 5 stars All of her fans could make this MUCH better!, February 5, 2002
This review is from: LOSING AALIYAH - Format: [DVD Movie] (DVD)
As one of Aaliyah millions of adoring fans, I received this DVD as a Christmas gift along with other Aaliyah items such as her calendar & the book. At first I thought this DVD was going to be professionally put together like the tributes and documentaries aired on MTV, BET, VH1, and E! but I was wrong. For instance, while the narrator spoke about Aaliyah and the songs she released on her self-titled album, Aaliyah and instead of saying "We Need a Resolution," he said "Resolution." On the Limited Edition Aaliyah album with the DVD, Aaliyah stated her name is Arabic whereas the narrator states her name is Swahili.

I laughed at the commentaries by the interviews from random people on the streets and Universal Studios. ... I did agree with the male who disliked the fact Aaliyah's plane was a Cessna instead of a more sophisticated and durable plane. In this DVD, they also interviewed a supposedly experienced small plane pilot and I have never heard any interviewer who would ask the same question in different question forms 2 to 3 times in a row.

After watching the DVD, I read the back of the cover and it clearly states "This is an independently made documentary...." But hey, if you love Aaliyah and anything with Aaliyah in it makes the worst to barely satisfactory, which is why I gave this DVD 2 stars instead of 1. ...

i love aaliyah and her work, that is why i had to run and get the dvd. when i found out it was an limited edition, that made me search more and more. i recived this as christmas gift and thought i'm one of the lucky fews. as i viewed it i was so upset. as fans we could have done a better job and even include more pics of her. maybe even music. so like another customer reported it was not made professionally and not through her family..if u lover her work u will not care to much but i find that the dvd released with her latest album is so much better...run and get "I care 4 U"....

1.0 out of 5 stars A BIG LET DOWN A VERY WEAK TRIBUTE TO A GREAT STAR, December 7, 2001

This review is from: LOSING AALIYAH - Format: [DVD Movie] (DVD)
THIS DVD FOR 1 ISN'T LICENSED BY THE MUSIC COMPANY SO NO AALIYAH MUSIC OR PERFORMANCES. THE MUSIC AND REPORTING LOOKED LIKE IT WAS DONE ON A CAMCORDER AND HONESTLY THERE WAS NOTHING TO IT. A BRIEF INTRO A COUPLE SEENS FROM HER FUNERAL A SHOT AT THE PLAIN CRASH A BAD REINACTMENT. WHO EVER DID THIS DVD SHOULD BE ASSHAMED. IF YOUR GOING TO DO A GOOD ONE YOU HAVE TO HAVE HER PERFORMANCES AND HER MUSIC. THIS IS A BAD DVD TO GET IF YOU WANT TO REMEMBER THE GREAT SINGER. SHE'S GONE AND NOT SOON OR EVER FORGOTTEN BUT THIS DVD ISN'T FOR AN AALIYAH FAN!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Just awful!!!!, December 21, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: LOSING AALIYAH - Format: [DVD Movie] (DVD)
This is worst dedication to an artist I have ever seen, if Aaliyah was alive she would not have liked it at all. This is definitely not worth the money. The only thing I like was the fans talking about how wonderful Aaliyah was as an artist. One of her friends could not say what he wantd to say properly for ever other word was a cuss word. They focus on the accident far too long, a good 15 minutes. They could have done a better job. Again it's not worth the price. It's awful!!
