I first found this book while sifting through the stacks at my local library, where I also worked, seeing the name of John Donne I thought I might find a poem I hadn't read before. To my pleasant suprise the beginning of the book was a selection of Robert Herrick's poetry. I read the Herrick selections and instantly felt a connection with the witt and depth of this unheard of genius. I checked the book out and enjoyed many weeks of poetic contemplation. Now, whenever I hear the name Julia my mind goes back to Herrick's poems and I smile. So
I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to see what the english language actually sounds like in the hands of a master wordsmith. Oh, the John Donne selections were pretty good too.
