Absolutely the Best,
By Phoebe Oh (central Illinois) - See all my reviews
This review is from: L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream (Shea Butter 20%) Dry Skin 150ml/5.2oz Tube (Health and Beauty)
I'm a caregiver, and the frequent hand washing and sanitizing made my skin rough and painfully cracked, but this cream made my hands soft again.
I am a big fan of a bargain and I've tried Neutrogena Norwegian formula, Vaseline Intensive Care, Jergens, Curel, Lubriderm, Eucerin, Aveeno and other common brands, but the L'Occitane just worked better. Pros of the L'Occitane cream: 1. Moisturizes super effectively. 2. Absorbs well without lots of greasiness. 3. Fragrance is pleasant and not too strong. Cons: 1. Price. 2. Lack of UV protection. The only other hand cream that worked about as well was Ahava (also a gift and also very expensive). If you can't get the L'Occitane, then the closest inexpensive alternatives include: Eucerin Calming Cream is very rich and non-greasy (it comes fragrance free and is in a nice, large tube) and Neutrogena Norwegian Formula (also greasier but available in fragrance free version) or Norwegian Formula FAST ABSORBING Hand Cream.

This is the best hand cream I have ever used. You only need to apply it once in the morning, its so rich that makes your skin soft.

I live in a very dry area. The humidity was 10% this morning. L'Occitane is the first lotion I have found that not only works really, really well, it smells good. I work in an office with many, many little cubicles pressed together. We need to smell good, but not annoyingly good. People live longer. This product is helping me arrive at at an advanced age without having skin like the snakes and lizards who also live here. Actually, until I bought this stuff and started using it faithfully, the snakes and lizards had better skin than I did.

Not fancy, but effective,
This review is from: L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream (Shea Butter 20%) Dry Skin 150ml/5.2oz Tube (Health and Beauty)
I am pleased with the L'Occitane Shea Butter products I've purchased, but they aren't miracle workers. I've got the hand cream, foot cream and body lotion.
They work well for softening the skin, and there is no stickiness or oily feeling. The body lotion is rapidly absorbed and does not give that sweaty feeling that other lotions leave after you've put on your clothing. The scent is pleasant and the container size is generous. The consistency of the body lotion is approximately like thousand island dressing. Consistency of the hand and foot cream is approximately like cream cheese. The tubes of the hand and foot cream are like old-fashioned toothpaste tubes; as you use the product you flatten the tube and roll it up. I find this somewhat inconvenient. In rolling one tube, it separated at the bottom and some of the cream oozed out. The caps of the tubes are ridiculously difficult to use. They are very small, and when you've just put cream on your hands, almost impossible to grip them. Even if you can hold onto the little cap, it's a challenge to actually get it onto the top of the tube and attach it. The hand cream has a thickness that seems to really soothe, but it doesn't have a lot of "slip." [It isn't slippery.] The lack of slip means that I've had to use quite a bit to cover my forearms. I have very dry skin and full coverage is important. I'm consuming the hand cream (20% shea butter) pretty quickly. It may become too expensive for me to use it on a regular basis. The foot cream is also approximately the consistency of (whipped) cream cheese, but I've noticed no difference or improvement of my heels or toes. The cream just doesn't have the power needed to affect the tough areas. I won't be reording it. As compared to other products, I like this brand. The creams are not runny, are not over-fragranced, and the hand cream and body cream do seem to offer skin softening. There's nothing in these products to produce a permanent change (such as alpha or beta hyroxies) but they are soothing and give relief from dry or older skin.

I bought this as a gift for my wife. She loves it. She's an RN and washes her hands a million times a shift. This keeps her hands from getting dry and cracked from all of the hand washing. The tube is really big, it will last quite a while as a little goes a long way. My wife also loves the mild fragrance (I think it's nice too).

This is a great handcream to repair hands from the garden or housework. After that use it everyday for soft and moist hands without the greasy feeling. The service was terrific from the seller too.
