Féria is for the bold. The colorful. The trendsetters. Multi-faceted, shimmering all-over color delivers brilliant results with 3X the highlights. Inspired by the runway, Féria's prismatic color spectrum is custom-blended by L’Oreal master colorists for bold, head-turning shades – no appointment necessary. The revolutionary Power Shimmer Conditioner hydrates and conditions week after week so hair is never wrecked or ravaged.

Expert Application Tips from L'Oreal Colorists
  • Before applying, do a skin allergy test to see if a reaction occurs.
  • Do a strand test by applying color to a small section of hair before covering your whole head.
  • Always apply color to dry, detangled and unwashed hair. The natural oils in your scalp act as a protective layer when applying color.
  • If you have thick or long hair, use two boxes.
  • Apply a small amount of Shimmer Booster Conditioner to hairline, ears and back of neck to prevent possible staining of skin.
  • Rinse your hair in cold water after coloring to keep color from running.
  • Do not shampoo your hair until 24 hours after coloring to maintain color vibrancy.
  • After coloring, skip clarifying shampoos and hot oil treatments. These products can strip or fade hair color.

Step-by-Step Guide for Applying Féria at Home

Mix:

Step 1. Be sure hair is dry, unshampooed and detangled. Put on colorist gloves. Drape towel over shoulders to protect clothing.

Step 2. Twist off tip from the Shimmering Conditioning Developer Crème Bottle (2). Then, remove applicator cap from bottle completely.

Step 3. Pour all of the Shimmering Conditioning Color Gel (1) into Shimmering Conditioning Developer Crème Bottle (2).

Step 4. Open Aromatic Shimmer Serum (ampoule labeled (3)) and pour contents into bottle (2).

Step 5. Replace applicator cap securely on Shimmering Conditioning Developer Crème Bottle (2).

Step 6. Place your gloved finger over open tip. Point away from your face and shake well until contents are thoroughly mixed.

Apply:

Step 1. Immediately after mixing, squeeze color from bottle (2) onto dry, unwashed hair beginning in front. Work mixture gently through hair, from roots to ends.

Step 2. Use as little or as much mixture as needed to saturate hair completely. Refer to lines on bottle (2) label as a guide.

Step 3. Pile longer hair loosely on top of head, securing with a plastic clip if necessary.

Time:

Féria develops in 25 minutes. Don’t skimp on processing time! If you rinse your color before it has enough time to develop, it won’t reach its most-gorgeous potential.

Rinse:

When time is up, keeping gloves on, add a little cool water to hair and gently work into a lather. Rinse thoroughly until water runs clear. Squeeze excess water from hair.

Deep Condition, Shimmer and Shine:

Apply the Shimmer Boost Conditioner (4) to hair. Work through and let penetrate for two minutes. Rinse thoroughly with cool water until water runs clear. No need to shampoo.

I've been dying my hair various shades of red for just about 10 years. One of the problems with the red shades, it seems, is that they fade after about a few weeks. After growing frustrated with the same-old color I'd been using for years ("light reddish blonde" which faded to "blonde with some orange" in about 2 weeks), I decided to go dramatic with this color by Feria. Feria is known for *dramatic* color, so it seemed right up my alley.

My immediate results were ~spectacular~ and I loved it!. The color was rich, prismatic, and it actually looked like I had highlights. I did notice some spots of unevenness, where areas were considerably darker red than others, which is hard to tell if it is because I was doing the coloring too soon after my previous coloring (about 3 weeks) or if the dye itself was applied unevenly (meaning you need to be hyper-vigilant about ensuring the dye is really applied evenly). My natural color is dark brown (and the color it was being dyed over was a darker auburn), and my color results were pretty much as depicted on the box, if not ever-so-slightly darker. Dramatic and eye catching, just what you'd expect from Feria.

It's now been 2 weeks, however, and the color has faded considerably. It's still red, but not as it was before. I'm not really disappointed, but I would have liked to maintain that "freshly dyed" color for a little longer. The kit, of course, includes conditioner that you use immediately after dying, then supposedly use "once a week until redoing color" to help maintain the color. While the conditioner does seem to help keep the color, the problem is there isn't *near* enough conditioner included to condition your hair for the 4-6 weeks between colorings. Why can't they sell more conditioner separately?

I'm a natural redhead (or was!) & for me this is the best color I've found. My sister is a hair colorist in Georgia and told me this is the only "over the counter" color that's got any decent color. The tone on tone colors are actually noticeable and you don't have to be a genius to get it right, just mix it.

Note: Once I've done my roots, I add water & conditioner (Dove, cheap & good) to the dye before I pull the color through the rest of my hair. The lower I get, the more I add to the dye (I've got long hair & one bottle is enough). Helps keep from overprocessing the older hair and damaging it too much. Biggest diff. w/over the counter is the amount of ammonia...more damagins.

I have black hair, so you can imagine how hard it is to find a hair coloring kit that shows up on my hair. Feria definitely does a good job. My black hair turned red, though still darker than the one shown on the box. I still like the color! I ALWAYS use feria when I dye my hair at home =)

I felt compelled to review this as I've just used it for the first time. I am a veteran home-colorer...been doing blonde in various shades for 15 years, and yes I still have hair left. First of all, don't even try mixing this in the teensy bottle they provide. Get an old bowl or a color mixing bowl. And if you have hair even past your collar bone, get two boxes. The consistently is thick, which is great for not dripping but not great for evenly applied color. You're going to need a lot to saturate your whole head if that's what you're doing. This is a nice alternative to bleaching, yes. But with drawbacks. If you have hair darker than dirty blonde, you're going to get brassy results no matter what you do. Only with extensive bleaching using a high volume peroxide solution will you get snowy white locks. I started with dirty blonde today, and my hair is a very, very light blonde now. I used the violet-tinted conditioner provided, and left it on my head for about 20 minutes which did counteract some brassiness I was left with. I'd recommend using a violet tinted shampoo and conditioner for maintaining your blonde and keeping brass toned down, especially if you have hard water. You can make your own purple or blue tinted conditioner by adding some manic panic or Jerome Russell dye to a large amount of cheap conditioner.

OK I have dark brown almost black hair....but i dyed my hair with L'Oreal expertise.. the one with the all over dye, then you put on the highlights, in the french eclair color... it came out a dark reddish brown and the highlights were orange...so i found downtown brown and read every review...fast forward...got the dye used it 14 days after first dye job...oh put a protein treatment on the day before using downtown brown....I'm happy with color... the orange is now sandy blonde, honey blonde, the reddish brown color is several shades of light to medium light brown....my roots very close to my scalp however appear red but I think it will settle in.. its only been 3 days...I applied the dye to the ends first but decided i would just put it on the roots right after applying the dye to the length...then put a bag on my head and set the timer for 40 min.. I like the color and I'm surprised it came out because it says wont work on previously dyed hair and not to be used on highlights i hope this is helpful i used reviews to make my decision to re dye my hair good luck, when i do my touch up i think i will leave it in 10 more min let you know
