I am adding to my original review of this product after reading so many reviews regarding the validity of it being sulfate free.
"Sodium laureth sulfate" is the main culprit in sulfate shampoos. This product contains "sodium lauryl sulfoacetate" which is not the same. It is actually a substitute for the sulfate component in shampoos. They are different compounds. CH3(CH2)11(OCH2CH2)nOSO3Na vs. C14H27NaO5S. The other ingredients listed such as sodium cocyl isethionate, disodium laureth sulfosuccinate, etc. are also not sulfate. Again, they are different chemical compounds. Although they sound alike, they are not sulfate. This is a key difference is what makes these shampoos better for your hair. Alternative chemical compounds. Now this does not mean "natural" or "organic"....they are still chemical compounds. But they are certainly sulfate-free shampoos.
Pureology shampoo is one of the best known sulfate-free shampoos (and way more expensive), and their ingredients are the exact same.
I have been using this exact shampoo for the past 5 years and can't imagine using anything else. I have been dying my hair for over 10+ years and have used most every shampoo for color-treated hair. When I first started using sulfate-free shampoo for my color treated hair I didn't like that the only products available were high end and $$$ (ex: Pureology). Although there are more sulfate-free products available at more reasonable prices, I still think this is the best product. The price can't be beat, the scent of Rosemary-mint is amazing, the shampoo lathers so well that I don't run out of shampoo so quickly with my long hair, my hair is soft, and my color stays longer. Do not look any further!!!!!!
