used this today. it was my first experience with foam haircolor, but have been coloring at home for about 8 years. when i color, i alternate between 3 main brands, depending on which is on sale when it's time for me to color, so i'm not terribly brand-loyal...i do typically try new stuff when it comes out, though. as a result, i've tried a pretty good number of haircolors. :)

what i liked about sublime mousse: easy to apply...definitely easier than typical creme hair color.
very pleasant scent...not at all chemically.
didn't stain my skin or scalp...this is something i thought i'd just always have to live with for a couple days after coloring, but not with this product.
color is very close to what i expected (i used medium golden brown, which is the shade i typically use regardless of brand)...i am used to at-home color turning out darker than desired at first. i have learned to not freak out and just let a new dye job fade for about 5 days before it matches what i want. sublime mousse looks pretty good on day one.
my favorite part - immediately upon washing it out, it left my hair feeling BETTER than before i colored it! even without using the included conditioner! most boxed colors promise to leave your hair in better condition, which i have come to accept as a bunch of bunk...never found one that actually delivers on that promise until now! btw, i never use the conditioners that come with boxed color. my hair stylist once told me they are mostly waxes and oils that can leave unhealthy, heavy build-up, so i always use my regular deep conditioner immediately after coloring and toss the stuff that comes in the package.

what i didn't like about it: very poor gray coverage......actually probably the WORST gray coverage i've ever gotten out of a boxed color, and trust me - i saturated my most gray areas like the instructions said to do. usually boxed color will turn my grays at least blonde or reddish-blonde, and i generally get complements on my highlights. my grays are still mostly gray and even stark white in several places.
came close to running out before i felt like i had saturated my hair well enough...i have VERY thick hair(i mean as much hair as two people, in all seriousness) cut in layers that come to just below my shoulders. when i had much longer hair (to the middle of my back), i always had to buy two boxes of hair color to get the job done. with sublime mousse, i came close to needing two boxes with my hair as it is now.
hard to tell how where i had applied it and where i hadn't...the mousse is so light-weight and blended in so well that it was difficult to tell whether everything was saturated. i know i got my roots covered well, but had a harder time with the longer layers. color came out looking pretty even though.

i don't know that i'd buy this brand again. since i use a dye as close to my natural color as possible only to mask my grays, and since it didn't get the gray coverage job done, i will probably pass on it in the future. but i really like the ease of using foam, and will definitely make the switch from creme color. will probably spend a bit more money to get a brand with a bit better reliability, though. Usually I read reviews before I decide to buy a product, but this time I'm glad I didn't! This is the best drugstore dye that I've ever used, and I've used most of them in the store at one time or another.

First off, this dye ended up being a huge bargain for me because I have hair down to my waist so I always have to buy two boxes and with the more expensive dye that can get to be a bit pricey. Not so with this one! I only needed one box and the mousse covered all of my hair!

As far as applying the dye it was easier than any other dye I've used before. Usually I want to dye my hair, but I dread getting everything out, and making a huge mess. This dye was not messy at all and the pump worked wonderfully. One of the best things about this dye was that while it did foam initially when I put it on, it didn't stay foamy like the picture so at first I was worried. But a short time after I put the dye on my hair it actually turned the color that it was supposed to be on the box! With the other dyes I've used, you have no idea what the color will be until you wash it out and you don't know if you've missed any spots, but with this one, I knew I would love the color and I could easily see if spots hadn't been dyed.

And now for the color itself. It is a couple shades darker then the listed on the box, BUT I just dyed it last night and dyes always blend more after a few days of having them in. I fully believe that the color will lighten to that of the one on the box. I would like to say that I cannot comment about gray coverage though because I don't have them, and was just trying to get back to my natural color and get rid of all the roots I have growing out from dying my hair so often....

So I can honestly say this is the best dye I have ever used and it got me back to my natural hair color which I have been searching for for so long. Even though I just dyed it last night, it doesn't look fake at all. The color, although a bit darker right now is perfectly natural looking. Love it! Read more ›

I was eager to try one of the new foam-type hair colors, but L'Oreal, usually a literal "preference" of mine, needs to go back to the lab on this one! Although easy to apply as promised, the ephemeral sudsy consistency was far from luxurious and mousse-like as shown in the commercials and on the website video. That would also explain why grey coverage was not satisfactory despite care to apply it first, and generously, to those problem areas. Worse, as a previous reviewer said, the Light Chestnut Brown turned my medium brown hair a much-too dark chocolate brown that doesn't look anything like the box, meaning I'll now probably have to add highlights to keep it from looking so harsh with my fair complexion. Really disappointed in this product ... I won't buy it again even with a coupon!

I tried this product today because I have been unable to find my regular dream blonde in the drug store or anywhere else locally. I tried 90, pure natural blonde. The only thing it did was dull and dry out my hair. NO gray coverage at all; no lightening of my roots, it just flattened and dulled the color of my hair and left it feeling like straw. I chopped a couple of inches off the bottom to get rid of the worst damage. I never had this problem with dream blonde. It left natural highlights and low lights in my hair and actually left it feeling better than before I colored it. L'oreal should take this product off the market immediately.

Loved the application process. Did great coverage and rinsed out well. I haven't had any shine from the product but my hair may not be in the best health. I would use it again.

Update: After a couple of washes, my hair looked very shiny. I am ordering more. Love the ease and the results.
