5.0 out of 5 stars Came out exactly as expected
A few months ago I bleached my dyed black hair to white and turned it all to mush. When I was sick of the white I tried to dye it back with a box dye and while my roots accepted the dye, the parts of my hair that had been so severely damaged by the bleach did not. So I had red roots and light pink hair. Not good. So after a lot of research I began dying my hair with henna...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not my preference
When I started coloring my hair a couple of years ago, I used Garnier Nutrisse, based upon a friend's reccomendation. I decided to try Loreal's preference brand b/c of their "fade resistant" claim. I have used light ash brown on my hair (Garnier) w/ good results. So my experience w/ Loreal Preference was not great.
1) when I was applying the color my eyes were...

5.0 out of 5 stars Came out exactly as expected, August 29, 2010
A few months ago I bleached my dyed black hair to white and turned it all to mush. When I was sick of the white I tried to dye it back with a box dye and while my roots accepted the dye, the parts of my hair that had been so severely damaged by the bleach did not. So I had red roots and light pink hair. Not good. So after a lot of research I began dying my hair with henna (natural not compound) which worked beautifully. However it takes a really long time, 24 hours prep and 8 hours on my hair. So after a few months I decided to try boxed color again. This time I bought preference Lightest Auburn and not only did it turn out exactly like the color on the box, but it even dyed the damaged part and my gray hairs. It also blended in with the existing henna hair color beautifully. I love this product!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Color for a Wide Range of People, August 10, 2011
By
Pamela (Philadelphia, PA U.S.A.) - See all my reviews
L'Oreal told me that given my past hair coloring, bleaching, color fill and natural dark brown hair that this product would turn my hair "screaming orange" and that I was not a good candidate for it. Nonsense. Right on the box it tells you that you can use this from medium blonde to dark brown natural hair color. Despite the dire warning, I used Intense Red Copper, and it was beautiful. It was the exact color of the model on the box. I can't stop looking at it. If you have dyed your hair brunette or red - I had dyed my bleached and dyed blond hair red - then wait until your color fades to a lightness commensurate with the color. Color cannot lift color, but if you have very faded color then you don't need any lifting. The vivid nature of it is amazing. Take a chance! Have a box of darker red dye nearby in case this doesn't work for you and you need an immediate correction. But believe me, the folks at L'Oreal's call center have been wrong in almost every situation in which I've called them. They are trying to avoid a lawsuit, not really help you look your best. You know what you like and what is going to work. Don't pass this up: Intense Red Copper is a color you should try at least once.

5.0 out of 5 stars Only thing I trust, June 12, 2011
I am a natural blonde but it's more of a dirty dishwater blonde and have always died my hair a lighter/brighter Blonde. As of late I have had no success with getting my hair died at the salon, I always ask for the same thing - A cool Blonde with no "yellow/gold" undertones, Yet, I always leave unhappy.

I decided I needed to try this myself and purchased L'Oreal boxed color Whispersoft Blonde and for the first time I Loved my hair! It turned out perfect, a natural light blond with no gold, no yellow.

I will never use anything else!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great color!, February 21, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have used this hair color for years. It is a vibrant dark red, which I like, but I also use it to give my hair body, which it does. Although I still love it and use it, I believe that they have changed the formula through the years, because the color does not last as long as it used to, and it seems to me that it does not give quite as much body as it used to. That being said, it is still the best product I have found for my own needs, and I will continue to use it. Another plus is that I am allergic to many, many shampoos and hair products, but I have never had any allergic reactions or allergy problems with this product. I just hope that L'Oreal continues to make this product for many more years. I bought this color through Amazon, and as always, they were efficient and a joy to order from.

4.0 out of 5 stars L'Oreal Preference Medium Chestnut Brown, August 20, 2011
I started dying my hair at home just recently. My natural hair color is a dark ashy blonde which I had highlighted with light blonde for years. I decided to go brunette, which I had professionally done. I then decided to try coloring my hair at home. I was very nervous, but decided to go for it. I used L'Oreal Preference Medium Chestnut Brown 5CB. I followed the directions exactly. My hair must pull red tones because when I first rinsed out the color my roots looked reddish/pink. I freaked out and thought I would be heading to the salon for a $200 color correction... After I dried my hair, the reddish pink color dried to more of an auburn color and the overall color of my hair was a deep brown with a lot of auburn accents. I decided to wash it right away to see if I could get the red to fade a bit and it seemed to have worked. After a couple of days the result is a beautiful shiny deep chestnut color with a touch of auburn accents. My hair looks very healthy and I have received a lot of compliments on the color. I will continue to use this product, although, I may try mixing a cool brown color with it to see if tones down the red.

5.0 out of 5 stars L'Oreal Paris Color Care System is awesome, March 15, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I love L'Oreal Paris Superior Preference hair color. It colors great, leaves your hair looking healthy and feeling soft. It comes with a color protectant condition to use once a week after coloring and it really works great.

I really like the Medium Chestnut brown color. It's a deep rich color.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous In Turning My Medium-Dark Brown Hair, a Nice Light Ash Brown, November 17, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
UL61 is the first at-home coloring product that hasn't left me super duper red tones. I followed the directions exactly... so put it on everything but the roots for 20 minutes, and then the roots for 10. I debated doing this as I have short hair--but decided I should follow the directions regardless and it turned out perfectly. I'm super happy. I just wish they'd make this formula in foam. Hopefully one of these days.

Amazon subscribe-and-save is the best way to buy it. Cheaper than the store, plus guaranteed that it will arrive when you need it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous Copper Red AND Saving Lots!, November 8, 2011

For many years I have had my hair colored by my haidresser. Now it is more difficult for me to get in regularly. I decided to try coloring myself. This Loreal Superior Preference RR07 Intense Red Copper Warmer is gorgeous and looks as good as my professional color. So I'm saving about $40 and, thanks to Amazon, I never have to worry about the store having my color in stock, a new box will arrive every month with my subscription (cheaper than the store, no tax, no shipping ... can I be any happier??). My hair is a medium brown with red base and some light greying. I left the color on a little longer (40 minutes - per Loreal's suggestion over the phone) and the coverage is very good, color saturation and highlights very pretty. I even used the color on my eyebrows, as my hairdresser always did, and they came out a perfect match as well! I expect to be re-coloring about every 4-5 weeks as I did with my hairdresser. This is a gorgeous color and looks fabulous in the sunlight, but if you are a bit timid and accustomed to a tamer, mousier shade you might not be ready for this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly what I've been looking for in a Black hair color!, September 5, 2011
By
Ravensblend (Portland, Oregon United States) - See all my reviews
I have been using box color for years and my previous color (by another brand) was discontinued. This color has a purple wash when you rinse out your hair compared to most of the black colors that have a blue wash... This black hair color is so beautiful, rich and shiny! It covers my grey really well. If I had to make one suggestion, I wish it were a bit thicker... Otherwise, I Love it and couldn't be happier with the Ultimate Black! :)
